Tempur make the proper ones. I took the cheper option and went for 2 Tempur Traditional pillows - they are great. Used them for a couple of years now. They keep your head in position more than a nomal pillow so you don't move around as much at night, and also reduces snoring because your head is in a good position. It gives lots of support to your neck and so helps your posture. Cheaper than buying a new bed. I sleep much better now, so although they seem expensive in comparison to a normal pillow they are well worth it for a better nights sleep and they last for years.

Got my Tempur Tradional Pillows from Bakers and Larners who have the best price, £5.99 delivery, and arrived less than 24 hours later. They sell Tempur beds too and special sheets for memory beds:

Although Tempur mattresses are good, they definately aren't the best (they actually came bottom in the which magazine report). They are way over priced, and are only reflex foam/memory foam, which if you read my previous post you will see that they aren't the best type of memory foam mattress. The osteopath who I mentioned near the top of the previous post said she actually used to work for Tempur, and she didn't rate them.

By the way, I do also sell latex/memory foam mattresses, so I'm not trying to put people off them, I'm just trying to give honest advice.

    Hi all,

I want to buy a new double mattress and like the look of the Tempur style mattresses.

I have seen some retailing on ebay for c.£400 with 2 pillows included.

Anyone got any experience or recommendations?

    Has anyone seen them cheaper?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    Hi!

What does anyone who knows anything about this think about this one?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-new-Memory-Foam-Topper-King-size-2-5-thick_W0QQitemZ170114626928QQihZ007QQcategoryZ131596QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have a mattress, which came with the flat I rent and its not that comfortable, I use another duvet between it and my sheet to make it a bit better, but am thinking about buying a new mattress, but if this was a good alternative to doing that I would be happy to do it.

I have emailed the guy and asked about the density of it, but going on the above comments where people have said 2-2.5 inches is the ideal thickness, this sounds perfect?

    Any comments welcome!

    Hi Mike.

If you read posts 7 & 9, it mentions the best types of memory foam mattresses.

That's a good price, but what is the guarantee?

The reason I ask is because from what I've been told by customers that have previously owned Silentnight mattresses, they don't last. So make sure you keep all your guarantee paperwork safe.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for your replies.

Following Heather's link I had a nose on mattressmans site and went for the following as it has 10cm (4") of visco:

    http://www.mattressman.co.uk/mattress/Double/SupaMemory_1000_mattress.aspx

Had my first night on it and it was brilliant.

I do own a Tempur mattress but that is on a King Size bed that is in the flat i rent out. Alas the bedroom I have now can't accomodate a King size bed :(

Anyhow, this new mattress is brilliant and dare I say it ... I probably prefer it to the Tempur one.

Free delivery and 6% Quidco as well.

    Thanks again
    Mike

Obvoiusly this mattress suits you Mike, but for anyone who doesn't like being too hot in bed read the following:

The optimum thickness for memory foam is 2" to 2 1/2". Any less and it wouldn't be deep enough to contour to your body. Any more and you will sink into it and get far too hot.

Some manufacturers use very deep layers of memory foam, and tell people that the deeper the foam the better. The truth is that the optimum thickness for memory foam is 2" to 2 1/2". Less than this and it won't be enough to contour to your body. If the foam is too deep, then you will sink into it, and it will wrap around you making you too hot.
