Definitely some funny ones there, but perhaps they're overdoing it to whinge about some of them, like snow in some fields in Germany or Austria (except perhaps they haven't realised that's what it is).

Give it some tim with update maps will get better.
The google map or tomtom also had many problems in the start.

I think Apple should have gone with bing maps used by WP 8 which are much better then others.

If you have updated to ios 6 and still need the Google map the following steps will help to get it back. It's not as bad as some make it out to be.

Step 1: Open up Mobile Safari on your iOS 6 device and navigate to maps.google.com.

Step 2: If the interface provides a user facing alert relating to permission to track your current location, make sure to accept and allow. Permission does not need to be granted, but without it the service won’t be able to provide anything that relies on the device location such as routing.

Step 3: Tap the action button from the middle of the toolbar at the bottom of Mobile Safari and select the ‘Add to Home Screen‘ option from the list. Selecting this option will tell the system to create a quickly accessible bookmark with the given web address and will be added to the device’s home screen to be invoked like a standard app.

Step 4: Give the bookmark your desired naming convention and select ok. The device will jump back to the home screen and create a Google Maps icon. Tap to launch just like any other app and enjoy a relatively seamless Google Maps experience on iOS 6.

    I have an iPhone 4s. I have iOS6.

The maps are crap. And no, your workaround is not a solution for removing a perfectly functional component because you think you can do it better.

Apple got it wrong. Badly wrong.

Same as on Android phones some use Google maps and others use Bing maps.
The Google maps had many bugs when released.
Only the Bing Maps have been more accurate from the start
You can keep repeating this until the cows come home, it doesn't excuse it. The fact is Apple pride themselves on attention to detail and perfection, even you can't argue that the maps app is a load of rubbish.

Google Maps had bugs at the start because Google created their own map data from scratch, Apple bought theirs in.

Do you think Apple should have finished Maps before they released it?

The maps on the new update are beyond horrific... There's no doubt on that! I was expecting better from Apple on this update... Yes I'm one of those loyal Apple people.... But I can honestly say I was VERY dissapointed when the new phone came out...

I fear that the loss of Steve Jobs means they're going to have run out of ideas, so everything that Steve Jobs had on paper before his passing they are going to try and stretch it out over a good few years....

may be that was the grand plan all along and not goofing up.

may be they wanted to remove the awesome and free googlemaps and navigation and streetview and replace with a crap free one so that their alliance with tomtom becomes a commercial success as people will be forced to buy the tomtom add ons to make it functional again. That way everyone is happy, people buy new phone or buy new apps and either way apple rakes in the moolah.

Too bad the consumer takes a hit, but what the heck once you have taken a bite out of the forbidden fruit, you gotta keep paying more to have more of the forbidden fruit.

But in this day and age when every other OS has free turn by turn navigation, removing free turn by turn navigation to force people to buy a paid tomtom once is taking the !!!!.

Wouldnt have bothered posting in this or any iphone thread if not for the constant crap that gets posted on android and related threads by the OP. so apologies for the users of the forum that find this tiring.
