Good lord that mapping is awful :rotfl:

Very poor. Have Apple not seen how good the maps are on WP and Android?0 -
Give it some tim with update maps will get better.
The google map or tomtom also had many problems in the start.
I think Apple should have gone with bing maps used by WP 8 which are much better then others.
If you have updated to ios 6 and still need the Google map the following steps will help to get it back. It's not as bad as some make it out to be.
Step 1: Open up Mobile Safari on your iOS 6 device and navigate to maps.google.com.
Step 2: If the interface provides a user facing alert relating to permission to track your current location, make sure to accept and allow. Permission does not need to be granted, but without it the service won’t be able to provide anything that relies on the device location such as routing.
Step 3: Tap the action button from the middle of the toolbar at the bottom of Mobile Safari and select the ‘Add to Home Screen‘ option from the list. Selecting this option will tell the system to create a quickly accessible bookmark with the given web address and will be added to the device’s home screen to be invoked like a standard app.
Step 4: Give the bookmark your desired naming convention and select ok. The device will jump back to the home screen and create a Google Maps icon. Tap to launch just like any other app and enjoy a relatively seamless Google Maps experience on iOS 6.0 -
You shouldn't have to wait for updates, it should work out of the box, that's part of the reason people buy iPhones.
Saying Google and TomTom had problems in the start doesn't excuse it, it makes it worse. Apple were supplied the map data by TomTom who have already done the donkey work in collecting the map data.
I'm quite surprised Apple allowed such a poor, unfinished product onto their phone. It smacks of arrogance.
They should have stuck with Google Maps until their own maps were ready.0 -
The crapness of Apples maps make those 'reviews' in the OP even less credible.0

I see now why you are so obsessed with upgrades.thegoodman wrote: »Give it some tim with update maps will get better.
At least they shouldn't have withdrawn this free app hastily from their appstore. They should have stuck with Google Maps until their own maps were ready.0 -
The Google, Bing and Apple all update maps via their system. In case you are not aware you do not need to update the phone or it's os.I see now why you are so obsessed with upgrades.
At least they shouldn't have withdrawn this free app hastily from their appstore.
If you need to use the Google maps still you can. See the post number 25.
The iMap is an other option, same as how you can use Bing maps on Android.0 -

Dont people use iphones though because "They just work" Isnt that a lot of faffing around to get a basic working mapping/navigation system?0 -

Its pretty clear by now that people who buy iPhones do so because they like the OS and the apps, and they'll pay a significant premium to have an Apple phone because they're seen as being desirable.
Few of these people care what the latest Android phone is like because they wouldn't be seen dead with one, so whats the point of comparing them.
As soon as Android nerds start droning on about pixels and frame rates and teraflops it just confirms what Apple people already think about people who have Android phones and makes them turn off even more.
People want to know whether they will like it compared to the iPhone they currently have, not compared to a phone they already don't want.
Well said, excellent straightforward point0
