Hi everyone and welcom Vik and other newbies.
Well, DH is at home waiting for a visit from the planning officer to see why he turned down the extension we were planning. No-one who has seent he plans can understand why (I work in local govt so know people in planning). Hopefully he will realise he's been a plonker and will allow us a few minor modifications. Fingers crossed.
Then DH is going in to work grrrr. I asked him to take the day off as leave because he's got so much to take but he'll be going in to work for a meeting.
For dinner I will make DS's favourite tuna fish melt with potato wedges. Yummy. Then I'm supposed to be meeting friends for a catch up so I will miss the first half of the Utd match, hope we do as well as Liverpool.0 -
Just popping in to say hi today as I'm not feeling to great at all, am doing very little as I don't want to spend the rest of the holidays in a flare!
Not much OS being done today apart from washing machine being on most of the day and doing the dishwasher.
I tried to make gypsy tart last night but only the top set, so will have to see where I went wrong. I want to go out tomorrow if I'm well enough and might treat myself to a pre made Gypsy tart from the Marina Asda.
Have a good day everyone x

Re your sore hands
If you mix lemon juice and sugar into a paste and then "wash" your wet hands with it for a minute or so - then rinse - it removes the roughness - hurts like **** but worth it.
Or you could use sugar and olive oil and do the same thing. Apply cream to hands after treatment and let it soak in.
((((moggins))))
Taking DD out later for a soft drink and cake at the local teashop as a treat.
Made pea and ham soup in the sow cooker and scoffing it while I am on here.
Dried elderberries arrived this morning - very quick service! Now waiting for the preserve jars from Lakeland so I can make elderberry extract or "tincture" if I want to sound posh!
Hugs to all and lovely to see new people . :T"This site is addictive!"

Hi All
Just finished poached eggs on toast for lunch. Went out on my bike for a 5 mile trip this morning, absolutely cream crackered!
Dinner tonight will be leftover HM mushroom soup for me, and gammon for DH.
Been to the garden centre to get some new pots to display some more of my cuttings, so will spend some time this afternoon dividing and potting on. May also try and tackle the sitting room if I can summon the energy.
Mimi, if you're going to Runnymede it would be worthwhile going to the Airforce memorial. It's beautifully quiet, and if you can be bothered to climb up the steps the view is fantastic. One direction you see London (inc Heathrow, the Eye, Wembley), but the other direction is much more countrified.
Go through thye Runnymede gates towards Windsor (the tea room end), and turn left at the mini roundabout. This takes you up Priests Hill. After a little while (some way past a nice Farm Shop), there is a turning on the left which will be signposted for the Airforce memorial. You drive down the road and park, then walk about 100 yards. Definitely worth a visit.
Moggins - be prepared that whatever you try and do for your daughter may be "the wrong thing". WHen DH and his ex told their three kids they were splitting up, they took them to the Fair to show them that it would be OK.
One of the kids was more interested in getting to the fair (he admitted it with some embarrassement several years later), one was OK, and the other (the troublesome middle child) says his parents ruined his life by taking him to the fair that day. He's 29 now, and still blames that one thing (going to the Fair, not the splitting up of his parents) as the thing which derailed his whole life. But then he is and always has been a selfish little b*gger, and I don't imagine your daughter is anything like him!
Have a great day everyone, hugs to anyone who needs or wants one.

When my parents separated I had already left home, but my sis and bro were still teenagers. This is a story my mum still tells people:
Reaction of bro and sis to being told of parents' separation: "Oh good - about time too!"
Reaction of bro and sis to being told by Mum that she was no longer going to do their ironing for them: "WHAT?????????"
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I've probably posted that on here before but it still makes me giggle (and Mum, too!)
Shez - if the coconut chicken recipe is successful I will post it on here
Right, back to work...

Blimey - been rushed off my feet - spent all morning online looking at properties, doing the washing and chatting to my mother.
The surveyor was fairly laclustre but who knows? We got another note of interest so they will have to bid. Gone quiet on that front. Fingers x'd!
Went to Perth yesterday and it is lovely - beautiful day too. Looked at some properties from the outside, there too and ordered the car - collecting Saturday. Got a lovely jacket reduced from £299 to £118, yes it is £118 but it is lovely:)
Ate at the French Crepe place - very good.
Went for a drive and passed Glenalmond College - it is a huge boarding school in the middle on nowhere - fabulous scenery round there. We are mad thinking of relocating up there but it's so lovely.
Lovely and sunny here and forecast to stay that way:)An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

Good Afternoon All
Hope we are well
Ive just finished work, and the glorious sun is shining. Will get some washing on the go soon. First thing 1st, fag & a cuppa!
I was getting in the car this morning to go to work, and I felt my muscle in my lower back go into spasms (again), Ive been in agony all day. Ive rung the doctor's and Im waiting for the Doc on call to ring me back, and hopefully prescribe me some more pain killers! Ive been pain free for a few months now, I just hope it doesn't fully go!
I drove past the park this morning, on our road, and there has been a car abandoned for a few wks now, and saw it got burnt out during the night and dumped on the park. The local councillor was there, and said they was waiting for the police to come out! I presume its been removed as I cant see it now. Little toe rags!

churchmouse... yep i have to agree about the washing mating in the basket... but socks go in the machine in pairs.. but they must have a row cos they always come out in singles.. where do they go !!!!! ??????
mimif.. my i grandad had a fruit and veg stall and a flower stall in Fulhams North End Road many moons ago !!!!!!!!
ok.. have alittle question for you all.. i now use stardrops all the time, but my hands are sooo sore , any suggestions other than wearing gloves ?
off to the beach now.. be back later x x
Regarding your sore hands - I always have to wear gloves when cleaning. If you find the marigolds difficult, try the surgical latex ones you can find in pound shops - they usually come in tissue-type dispensing boxes and are really easy to get along with. I even use them when rolling dumplings, mixing crumb mixture etc., to keep my hands clean and for peeling kiwi fruit - for some unknown reason, the feel of freshly peeled kiwi gives me the creeps even though I love eating them!) You could also try applying something like Vaseline on your hands before using Stardrops and, for moisturising sore hands, you can't beat almond oil. Buy the chemist's own brand; it sinks in really quickly, doesn't leave your hands feeling greasy or sticky (it is the carrier oil that lots of aromatherapists use to mix with their essential oils so you could mix it with something like lavender oil or something else you like the smell of) it's cheap, contains no chemicals or artificial perfumes and you don't need to use a lot. I always keep some in the bathroom as well as the kitchen.:j :A :easter:KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
