Aquired Cat and Pregnancy!! Updated

  • My daughter was asked to look after a Cat while the owner moved but had kittens before she even got the Cat so had three in the end to look after. At only six weeks we 'helped out' and took Girlze on and she was a real super duper demon...unbelievablely naughty but adorable of course....but now 7 years old she has melloooowed so much... and I can honestly tell you how much they give you back, you cant know right now...but you will.
  • If she is preggies - she will eat like a horse. Lucy did. One would never believe how much such a tiney cat could eat.

I know you said you would have her spayed if it is early enough in her pregnancy.

I am tottaly against irresponsible breeding of animals (all my lof are neutered) but I do not think I could abort kittens that are already "done" but - absolutely not judging your decision, you know what you can/can not cope with and I am sure you will follow vet;s advice and do the best for the cat.

She is absolutely stunning..... lovely looking girl....

    All the best...

Thank you for taking this lucky girl on! Pregnant spay is best if you can, it can be safer for the queen and there are so many unwanted kittens already. Don't feel guilty about contacting rescues, given the circumstances they may be able to help with vet costs. Also they may be able to vaccinate and rehome the kittens, especially if you are willing to 'foster' them until they are ready to leave and keep the queen. That means the rescue gets a little money and homechecks are done. Generally they don't rehome right before Christmas, if you are going away or have no space they can probably organise another foster home or take them into their cattery over Xmas.

If you can't find a rescue to help post on Purrsinourhearts forum.

Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Thank you all for your advice.

We went to vets this AM, she wasn't pregnant.Vet said symptoms could be because shes feeling more comftable with us now.

Anyway he'd had a cancellation and she has been spayed! And microchipped.

Last night she was asleep on her blanket on landing and i heard DS1 get up for what i thought was a wee. On my way too bed, they were both fast asleep on the blanket on the landing - super cute. Made me see how much she is loved by us all.

Now i need advice on food, she's been having whiskas but have read its like crack for cats - so want to wean her on to something more appropriate. Any tips please x

    Thanks again all x

Zooplus is a great place to get food and cat supplies for.

When looking for food, http://www.petforums.co.uk/cat-health-nutrition/ is a good forum to read.

You want to pick the best food that you can afford with the highest meat content. From Zooplus, wet foods Grau, Bozita and Animonda Carny are all very 'meaty' and as you feed less of them than you would other foods.

    and, that picture is adorable!

Awwwww, that pic's fantastic!:D (She'll be on his bed in no time - esp when it starts to get colder!;))

Great that she wasn't pregnant and even better she's been spayed & chipped so quickly ...... new cat slave in the room!;)

Re wet food - wee cat won't eat it and big cat likes the junk food I'm afraid :o I have tried (honestly) nearly every good brand out there & neither of them will eat it!

The pet forum is a great source of advice & help as Bethie says.
