18 Months Interest Free with Capital One

Would it be possible to spend £100 immediately after getting the card, wait a month, pay off the £100 and then do a balance transfer for the remainder of the 18 months? Or do BTs have to be done when the card is taken out?0

Like your thinking Anthony...............but Im sure they will have that covered.........................0

I take it this 18 month interest free period is for balance transfers only and not purchases...
And obviosuly the min 3% repayment is gonna pay off the balanace transfer amount first. - So basically you will get stung on the interest for the £100 min spend.

Yes - but see Martin's post on page 1 of this thread.
If you spend £100 just before the end of January 2005 you'll pay 11.9% on £100 for about a year - about £12.
It costs £35 to do a BT on MBNA! ::)0 -
I've just given them a call to see if I can apply. I told them a "friend" had received a letter.
They told me I would be unable to apply unless I either 1) Received an invite myself, or
2) Was able to get the invite off my friend and use his.
I'd suggest if we don't hear, we find out if any friends or relatives have got a letter and if they don't want to use it, we take it!
Worth a try.0 -

I have found this post very interesting as I had a Cap1 card and recently paid it off and transferred to MBNA as I was already a customer with them and rang them to see what they could offer me and they offered me 0.9% for 9 months on balance transfers. Beware with Cap1 though, when I paid my balance off they tried to charge me interest on a zero balance when I questioned this with them they said I would need a settlement figure which I am currently waiting for, interesting though that although I only owe £1.83 they said I should probably send £4 to cover everything to ensure it gets cancelled?Official DFW Nerd - 3990 -
you can take out the card and spend the £100 if you are required to, pay this off then as long as you do your balance transfers within 6 months of opening the account you will still get up to 18 months interest free.
After 3/4 months ask to increase your credit limit, then as long as you are within the 6 months you can still transfer balances to receive interest free.
Rememeber to cancel you old cards or this may affect the next time you apply for a card.0 -
My wife received the offer this morning it says (We will apply a handling fee of 2% of your balance transfer amount to your account.) Is it worth having? Thanks.0
