quidco - some sneaky affiliates not paying out

Options
I found what could be a sneaky way for affiliates not paying cashback. I bought a car insurance policy from Lloyds TSB via quidco in January. The cashback reward was £130.

The T&C's of quidco cashback say that ALL of your transaction has to be completed ONLINE for the affiliate to pay out.

Surprise surprise, a week later I get a letter in the post from Lloyds. 'Can you please call us to verify something'... they dont state what it is that I have to verify so naturally this gets me suspicious. I called up, and all they wanted to know was what I did to my previous car which was insured ...

Me: 'errr...i sold it'...

Them: 'Ok thank you sir, thats all we need. Bye'

Although I didnt think much of it at the time, to date I have not received ANY cashback from Lloyds, nor is there any record of it at quidco having been tracked or rejected. COuld this be a sneakey way of gaining business through quidco and not paying out? Has anyone else experienced something similar ?

My sister-in-law used Alliance & Leicester for a personal loan; same terms and conditions, i.e ALL of the application has to be carried out WHOLLY online.

She turned down the option online of Payment Protection Insurance as the loan was only over 12 months and she's been with her employer for 27 years and they have very generous sick/redundancy schemes in place.

Not content with one screen trying to sell her this PPI, she encountered a second screen informing her of all the problems she was bringing upon herself by not clicking Yes to it. She clicked No again.

Surprise, surprise, her email notification asked her to call an 0845 number for her loan decision, whereupon she spent 15 minutes on the phone (at her cost) whilst the person at the other end tried to flog her the same PPI.

Her cashback hasn't tracked yet and this was February...........you're dead right, it's a scam and Quidco should wisen up to it.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

I took a home insurance policy with Barclays as it was going to be the cheapest after £95 cashback and after waiting and waiting I emailed Quidco and was told to chase it up with Barclays themselves, I mean what am I supposed to say to Barclays when I ring? I did raise a query but it's been pending since last year. I thought Quidco would at eat contact them on my behalf as they got something for solicting my business but no chance. Not too happy about that but in principle and when your transactions track it's a good site.

I also have Boots and Unibet pending since last year, so it's a bit annoying and feels like no one is doing anything to chase this up

I bought my Skype credit through Quidco. All completed on-line. Mine was tracked. I supposed to get £2.50 cashback. But then saw it was rejected. Did ask for the enquiry. No result back yet.
  • I'm very suspicious of online retailers trying to avoid paying through quidco.

I ordered a mobile phone from dialaphone via quidco hoping for £50 cashback. They called me with a query about my address details (our lane has no numbers - only names). I then found that the quidco tracking showed payment "declined".

I then cancelled the order and placed another via quidco with carphonewarehouse, hoping for cashback again. I then find there is a problem with the order and I ended up ringing them. It turns out they needed to do the credit check again, and I was given another ref number.

No doubt this cashback will be declined!

Not had a problem with Prudential over car (two lots) and health insurance. The cashback is a bit lower but we did get all three lots...

Still waiting for LLoyds TSB to pay car insurance cashback.

Put complaint in writing to LLoyds - they'll send a letter asking you to phone them - all staff have no knowledge of Quidco cashback - try to tell you it's not them offering the cashback!!!

Waiting for resolution of second complaint.
  • Signed up for LoveFilm, next night looked in quidco account and said my £14 payout was declined. Should be called HateFilm!
