  • Mrs BC901 bought herself a simple Doro mobile phone from CPW and rapidly came to the conclusion that she didn't like it. So, back to (a different) CPW store where the manager patiently explained the various options and the benefits of a smart phone. So, she signed up for the £7.50 pm deal on Talkmobile which included a free Samsung Galaxy Ace and a more than adequate call allowance. Excellent customer service and a product that knocked the socks off the best offer that Vodafone made to her. I even signed up for the same deal a week later on the basis of her experience.:T
  • I've been with loads of phone operators, and have had a great experience with all of the them. So much so that I believed that they must be all the same and that it was just a matter of finding the best deal. What a mistake. The connection is unreliable, The customer helpline is terrible with continuous waiting, with no guarantee of getting through to anyone. Oh yes, and should you lose your phone, and eventually get through to customer service to try and block your phone you will be charged £15 for being sent out a replacement sim card and be told that it will take 5 days to send out a replacement. Don't do it, when there are so many decent reliable companies out there to use, you will regret it.
  • Just got my Xperia E from TM this morning on the cheapest contract they have, £8.50 p/m.

I wanted a smaller, cheaper handset to take abroad with me rather than my Xperia Z. So I phoned CS to find out how to unlock the phone to take a Telefonica SIM while I am abroad. Got through in less than 2 minutes! Very helpful chap told me that ALL TM phones are unlocked :D

    Sorted! :T
  • I first came across TalkMobile last August. Wanting to get away from another network, I first switched my PAYG sim to TalkMobile but the courier company tried to deliver to the wrong address and were demanding written instructions from TM to deliver to the correct address. TM customer service told me that this would impose an unacceptable delay and arranged for a replacement sim to be sent by next day delivery - it arrived at 9 a.m. I then got an official apology for the delay caused by their courier's mistake.

This month, I was looking to change my pay monthly contract. Talkmobile had an extremely good deal, so I contacted them to arrange the deal over the phone. Everything was done in a matter of minutes. TM apologised that as I was ordering on a Friday, I probably would not get the phone before the following Monday. It arrived at 8:30 the next morning.

There were a couple of things I was not sure about in the instructions for the new phone. A simple call to TM Customer Service gave me the information I needed in minutes - despite the information not being in the phone's user guide.

Everyone I have spoken to at TalkMobile has been polite and very knowledgeable. As a former consultant in Customer Services I believe I know how to recognise good customer service, but I have NEVER come across customer service as good as TalkMobile provide and that includes comparing it with a service that I guided to a national award for excellence.

If anyone has knowledge of the deals they offer when the contact ends I am interested.
I have two £7.7 pm deals finishing early in 2014.
The service is ok although we both think some texts occasionally go missing.
  • This company was OK over a four year contract period, didn't really have any complaints until I tried to switch back to a PAYG SIM that I had. I was told that failure to make a chargeable call within a 90 day period had resulted in the cancellation of my sim, with all credit 'lost'. I had the sim for emergencies or backup (it came with the contract sim) and hadn't used it for 4 months. Alright, so I only lost £25 in credit, but there is a principal at stake - I will not use this company again.

Why? That's the same with all PAYG sims.

We have three £7.70 deals ending shortly and would like to hear of any retention deals on TalkMobile. The service is fine but there have been occasions when texts have gone missing.
  • One word on choosing Talkmobile - MISTAKE!
I was sold a contract phone on Talkmobile via Carphone Warehouse. I made it totally clear that this was for my young daughter, and asked about what data charges control service was included so a huge bill could not be run up. I was told the data service would be controlled at £50 and we would be alerted if it went over that. We weren't. The bill in month 1 was £240

I contacted Talkmobile's Customer Services number to ask why I wasn't alerted or this over-use controlled as we expected it to be - and it seems there is time lag between the real Network (Vodaphone) and Talkmobile's virtual network. I spoke to a singularly unhelpful manager in Customer Services 'Kevin', who tried to point the finger at Carphone Warehouse, despite the fact that the bill was from TM. When asked he refused to tell me his surname (so I could complain), and when pressed claimed that his team 'had no particular name or number' (on the spot he told me I could call his team 'Team 4' because he had just counted the number of desk rows from the door and there were 4 of them!), and he also refused to tell me where the Talkmobile Customer Services Office was located, 'just in the UK'.

In summary Talkmobile's service is deficient, unresponsive, and their customer service has all the charm and appeal of a public toilet. AVOID!
  • My mother in law and a friend both have the 7.50 package as are low users and on the face of it it's a good deal

However both have issues with the service especially texts. Often the delivery is delayed and mms photos rarely reach us. I'm not sure about data connection on the move as they don't really use

For me as I heavy user with vast mobile experience I wouldn't touch them. Another reason is my experiences with talk talk landlines / broadband whom contined billing for 6 months after I moved. The customer services were woeful every month I rung them all sorted then another bill

For a low user they do provide a cheaper entry level.
