Well I persude it all the way, costing me £95 in fees, to find out they've gone into liquidation!
The liquidation company (Duff and Phelps) have sent me the forms to try and get some money back but they've said it will probably be a pound in the penny payment. They sent me some paper work which was give a brief ohistory which led the company to go bust and they are claiming that it's people claiming the £80 charge back, plus interest that's sent them bust and that they obtained written and verbal consent from customers, to take this money!
It states that the shareholder (Secret eye holdings limited) traded under "The Finance Facility," "Quick Steps" and "TFF Loans"
It states the business closed a made staff redundant in November 2014? It also stastes that they sent cheques out to the people that the financial ombudsman awarded payment to (which includes me) up until Novemebr 2014!! Which is also a lie! It's so annoying to think that these !!!! holes, Gary, Lesley and Paul McKenna will only open the same sort of business under a different name and do the same again!
I think you means a penny in the pound, not a pound in the penny, or everyone would get back one hundred times the amount they are owed."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I've been conned out of money by a company like this in the past, some loan broker, maybe a subsidiary or just another recycled version after a previous one that went bust.
I was charged £69.95 and this was a few years ago now from a company I had never hard of, or seen or contacted or anything. What happened was when I applied for a Pay Day Loan direct to a legitimate lender it got declined but it automatically sent all my details to basically every company on the planet, including one of these. It seems all my details, complete with debit card information was just automatically passed on and processed.
I called the company and they gave me some rubbish so I left it at that, took it as a loss, reported my card lost, opened a new bank account etc. etc. There was no way I'd let it happen again.
But this was all seemingly innocent which was what annoyed me the most, the fact that I went to a real lender direct and it still happened. I always make sure I tick/untick the "Do not pass/pass my details to third parties" boxes.
I strongly urge people "Just don't do it". If you're struggling, find some other way, you're already going to be in a difficult situation and losing or having to fight for £70/£80 does not help. You may as well just burn the money now if you're thinking of using one of these loan brokers. You'll just get a letter from Amigo Loans and them thinking they have done some kind of service (I think I had about 3 letters in one week from Amigo Loans once, just goes to show that they all use the same tactic). I'm just thankful I only got robbed the once.
EDIT: I actually remember the name now 1st Stop Personal Loans - Never in my life had I went to their website, or called them, or applied directly to them in any way shape or form. Yet they managed to charge my debit card.0 -

If the above it true and these clowns have finally gone to the wall then good riddance, although no doubt a very simlar outfit will soon open for business.
You should have complained and taken it to the Financial Ombudsman to get a refund.
Putting it down to experience is why they drive around in flash cars and live in big houses.0 -
This is why they traded for so long and made as much money as they did. People simply let them get away with it.

You are right of course, I should have. But honestly at the time so much more was going on in my life I had to deal with. Which is probably what they count on.
Anyway, three years later, a mortgage, a car and 2 credit cards, I'm not doing too badly. There can always be light at the end of the tunnel.0 -
I sent mail to this company and sent using recorded mail. This mail was rejected and sent back to me with a Royal Mail sticker explaining this was the case. What can I do? I'm owed money as stated in the t&c. Please help?:mad:0

I was ripped off by this company of thieves known as The Finance Facility. I contacted them and they said that they were going to take 50p from my account to check it was active which is usual practice. Instead, they removed a sum of 79.95 from the account without my permission, where I come from that's called theft. it says nothing in the T&C's about that!! I was then told that I would be entitled to a refund after 6 months if I did not take up any of the company's they sent me, which I didn't ask for in the first place!! After the 6 months, I attempted to contact them but to not avail.
Because of this i contacted the Financial Ombudsman who found that the Financial Facility was also trading under the name Secret Eye Ltd.
It now appearers that The financial Facility has gone into liquidation and is no longer trading.
The company that has been brought in to manage the liquidation is:
Duff & Phelps LTD
The Chancery
58 Spring Gardens
Manchester
M2 1EW
These are the people you need to contact if you are looking to get your (STOLEN) money back.0 -
I have never, in all my life applied for credit that required the lender to take 50p from my account to check that it was active.
Your money wasn't stolen, in your desperation to get a loan you willingly signed up to their membership scheme and gave out your debit card details. I'm pretty certain going by what's I the 5 pages of this thread that it did tell you the fees in the T&C.
Good luck with your quest to get your money back.0
