Just catching up with your diary. I know you have been talking about weight loss this year but seeing it so clearly between last Christmas and now ....WOW .... Well done! Seriously impressive.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

  • Managed planned 8.27 mile run although legs haven't forgiven me yet. Was really enjoyable till the last uphill mile which killed me. Weather still perfect. In a debate as to when you need to carry water, as I literally take my phone (for music) and that's it. Was getting dry near the end. Have mapped loads of variations to work towArds.

Have ski lesson 3 booked for later.

Can I confess to having not done anything else... Have eaten 2 bags of jelly beans.

Money ready in starting gates and will be 27.5 k on the 1st, which is on target. My list of what need to replace at the end gets bigger. Take me year post mf to clear it!

Have you used the lightbulbs yet? I ask as H0mebase have 25% off lights and lightbulbs this weekend (damned Classic FM ads have brainwashed me!) :rotfl:

Your running is going very well. I never bother with water unless it's a race day, I don't seem to have suffered too badly. That said, I do tend to use a few energy gels if I'm planning 10+ miles.

You're putting me to shame, currently doing no exercise. My excuse is that my £100 running shoes (necessary as a heavy overpronator) are worn down by an inch, need a new pair :o

On a related topic, have you ever read any of the articles/discussions that suggest that distance running on a treadmill is bad for your muscles in the long term? Apparently the wrong muscles get exercised vs. running in the wild. Could be total hogwash, but I have heard it mentioned a couple of times...

No, hadn't read that, although there's a lot saying treadmill isn't as good for training, I only treadmill on a Tuesday now as fits in round girls. Have lots of different routes to try and did a completely new one today, 2 massive hills (one at beginning and then at the end) but I think the flattest of all my runs to date for the middle bit. Was just over 7 miles. My knees ache today now though. Haven't managed 10 miles yet... max is yesterday's 8 1/4. Im thinking repeat that one a couple of times and then move up to 9 in a couple of weeks. My short run is now 5 miles which was my long one only a short time ago. I do run slowly though when outside. Are the gels for hydration or energy? I have bought addidas running trainers but weren't fitted, have had no problems though and they weren't cheap...
I can't explain how much am enjoying being outdoors on my own (does that sound strange?) Someone was asking me if I wanted a running buddy, this is my 3rd offer but i like to get up and just go.

    Afternoon in. A and e, Dd2 broken toe (3 bits) dd3 fault.

He bought the bulbs that day as we would soon be sat in darkness but thanks xx

The gels are for energy, my longest training run clocks in at about 11 miles, it really takes it out of me. I'm thinking about going the other way (re. solo exercise), my brother in law (something like that, wife's sister's husband?) has offered to take me along to his running club. I think it might give me the kick up the bottom that I require to get started again. Managed to find replacement shoes for £73.99 delivered, that's actually pretty good :)
  • It's the being able to just go that puts me off a buddy plus being in my own world. Well done on shoes, No excuses now then ed!
I also like running out the door, rather than having to go somewhere first, frequently get home and everyone is just starting to get up.
