I can't get enough of canned mackeral / sardines in tomato sauce, mashed up. Then take two pieces of toast, spread with laughing cow lite and put the fish on top. I'm completely addicted, nice, cheap and easy to make - I am famed for giving OH and his friend food poisoning so the easier a meal is to prepare the safer we all are!*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0

great point! But now I'm wondering if the sign of a true friendship is that you *can* invite them over for exactly this meal and it will be the most 'talked about, cool meal' ever.

Get some penne pasta on. Then put half a tin of tomatos (for 2, or the whole tin for 4) into a sauce pan over a medium-high heat. Mash up the tomatoes while they're cooking to make into a sauce. Add a pinch of salt, a glug of EV olive oil and a finely chopped rasher of bacon or two.
If the sauce gets to thick while your waiting for the penne, take some of the cooking water from the pasta and add it to the sauce to loosen.
When the pasta is ready drain and add a little of the sauce then stir to coat. Plate up and then add more sauce over the top and some cheese (preferably parmasan). Serve!
From start to finish this require very little effort and can be knocked up in about 15 to 20 minutes! The slowest bit is waiting for the water for the pasta to come up to the boil.
A very small amount of ground chilli goes really well with this too!SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -

I think that some of the best meals I have had were with friends cooking me meals that usually you probably wouldn't serve to ordinary guests but have no problem eating with very close friends.
I really dislike cooking so am always grateful if someone else wants to cook for me.:j
Its good for me that most of my friends love cooking and are really good cooks (well they are really good with the dishes they have fed me!)
One time a friend invited me round for a chat, this was when we were students, just before payday so neither of us had any money (some things never change:rolleyes: ) so she said she would make me something that she had in. She warned me beforehand that she didn't have a lot in, it wasn't about the food though it was about the company. She made me cheesy mash and beans. So simple but oh so tasty! Fantastic company, tasty food, couldn't ask for much more really!:T
This is a great thread by the way, some of the simplest food is the best. Give me easy yet tasty anyday!0
