Never a good idea to weigh yourself on your own scales spending :naughty:
It does save the shock factor when u discover that despite you thinking you've had a fantastic week you have miracously gained or that you hadn't realised your weight had crept up to that ceiling limit we all have that trigger that makes u get off your backside and lose the gain and the factor that you then want to cry in front of the whole group can be somewhat prepped for.
Did you weigh yourself on your own scales the same time you went for Weigh In at group? I'll bet A: you weighed yourself at a different time of day and B: you didn't weigh yourself on those scales the same day you went to group.
My Wii told me I had sts this week. 20 minutes before going to group. I didn't eat anything I didn't swap my clothes or go to the loo either.
The scales at the gym have me 4lb lighter in general, the wii is usually around 2-3lb heavier. I can gain a whole 5lb in a day on the wii scales.
Ignore them, use them as a guide, sure, but not an excuse, nor one to panic over - panic in this house equals raiding the chocolate tin:D
Only one set of scales matter. The one you use for Weigh In.
Right, I'm off to bed, all powered up to claim my next shiny for next week :D

Literally jumped on them just as i was walking out the door to weigh for the first time in the very clothes i was due to "weigh in" was more to guage partly how close mine are by comparrison...... seems that after this weeks weigh in ... they probably should be destined for the bin..

    Lost 3.5Lbs this week :p

Great loss lush. Really go for it this week starting with those sandwiches tomorrow. You could have a coffee to be sociable you don't have to eat them!:rotfl:

I have WI in the morning. I'm pretty sure I'm still in target range but I'm feeling a bit bloated tonight (must be that little bar of chocolate just had to have earlier).

    Hello everyone :hello:

I started slimming world last week and had my first weigh in last night. I lost 1.5 lbs, which is a start I suppose - but I was expecting to lose more if I'm honest cos I've cut out an awful lot of stuff and had sensible options all the time.

I'm wondering if I am doing some of it wrong? It might have just been a bad weigh in, cos according to my scales at home (and I weigh myself on them regularly, so I know what I weighed before my first slimming world class) I have lost 4lbs.

I did eat tea before the meeting last night, which on my first week I didn't. But I don't expect that made all that much difference to the scales?!

I have oats so simple packets for breakfast. Its not on the healthyb list - but I don't have any other healthy b's in the day. So I have been counting this as 2 syns - cos most cereal are 4.5 syns which are on the healthy b list - and oats so simple is listed at 6.5 syns in the book.

Is that ok to do that? I don't want to particularly change my breakfast as it does help to keep me going til dinner.

I have fruit as a mid morning snack. I have left-overs usually for lunch, but am thinking of changing this over to soup once I have made a batch up. And I have a healthy tea such as stir fry, curry, pasta, chicken with jacket potato and salad. I am making sure I have 1/3 of my plate as super free stuff, apart from brekkie - but I have the fruit as a snack mid-morning.

I haven't touched alcohol, chocolate, cakes, sausage rolls, fish n chips, CHEESE, take outs, ribena (sugar free one is not the same!) or any other of the lovely foods which have made me overweight in the first place. I had a packet of crisps one day whilst I watched my little girl eat chocolate cake and cream - so I thought I did really well!!

Even if I listed my brekkie as 6.5 syns, I don't think I would be over 15 syns most days as most of what I am eating is on the free pages anyways.

I am gonna stick with it. Am hoping the scales will be kinder than that next week tho. Normally when I start a diet I can lose 4-5lbs in the first week so it was a bit of a shock that it was so low, especially as I have a lot to lose.

    Hello all,

Well done Lush, S vs S, and Stef's son :D

Abis - 1.5 is a good loss and often people lose more in their second week than first but if you think you should have lost more, eating before you went could well have made the difference. Best to keep things consistent if possible. i think technically you're not meant to have flavoured OSS as HEB but I have been recently and can't see any harm - I count it as 0.5 as or 1 as most Bs are about 5.5. The plain OSS are classed as B I think?

    EE for me today:
    B: Syrup OSS (B + 0.5), milk (A), banana
    L: Paella (2), 2 satsumas
    T: (late) Chicken laksa & rice (2)

Good look to those weighing in today :)

Don't worry abis, I'm a great believer in things catching up with you good or bad so if you've been following the plan then you'll lose but maybe not all in one week!

OSS is not a HEB and the plain ones are 5 (flavoured vary from 6.5lbs up). Do you not like anything else for breakfast or are you just using things up? On the days I hvae porage I just have it made from basic oats with a banana sliced on top or syrup (2 for a tbsp but I don't have that much). You seem to have given u so much but what do you use your syns for? Not having syns can prevent weightloss. Keep posting.

WI for me today and I gained 0.5lbs. Not worried about that as all as am still well in my target range. I've looked at my diary and no meals out planned next week. I'm doing my meal plan later so will keep closely to SW stuff. I want to stay right at the bottom of my range to allow for Christmas stuff.

Hope all goes well at the hosp stef.

I've found eating or not just before can make a huge difference to the scales. At least it does for me, I don't go to SW group yet so weigh myself, and usually have about a 2lb difference if I weigh before or after breakfast. If you're similar, that would take your real lose potentially down to around the 4lb mark you were expecting. Just keep at it, the weight will come off if you're sticking to plan. Maybe leave tea until after the meeting next week and see if there's a bigger drop?

I didn't quote your whole post, but I would recommend switching to a proper HexB for breakfast, or synning your OSS and having something else (maybe one of the fruit or soup options if you don't like grains?) as your B later in the day instead. I don't have the full list, but I know there's other porridges that are on there - Ready Brek as an example of another instant one. I used to have OSS and switched to RB, my book says 25g RB plus a Ryvita is a HexB. You could save the Ryvita for a snack or with lunch, which is what I do.

In my last post on this thread, I said I was struggling to find a HexA. Since then, I've started having the Oatly chocolate milk. It's not in my book, but I've read numerous times that it's on the online list so I'm happy enough with that. Took a few tries to get used to the oaty taste (and I like oats!) but I love it now. It's only 200ml, so don't feel like I'm forcing down loads of the stuff like I would with the larger allowances. So it's definitely worth trying out other items, you may stumble across one you love.

Couple more weeks until I move, then I think I'm ready to join a group. It'll be just down the road from me, and it looks like they have a pretty big Facebook community too. Hope to meet some nice people there! :T

Do stick with it. In my old group one lady gained. She was gutted- * week and lost well the week after. I've only had one STS, and that was when I missed lunch but ate dinner before going.

    (1 STS, & 1 Gain while briefly a target..not bad in nearly 40 weeks if I do say so myself ;):T )
Maman, I know how hard it is to remain within target, if only briefly before I set mine lower, so a .5 is a real achievement in my book! (even with that sneaky bar of chocolate you tried to get past us !!:D)
SvS ...all that stressing and fretting for nothing ;D been there done that. I find that if I just "coast" through a week I tend to be ok on the big day.
    Stef hope all is ok.

Outdoor fitness classes usually run by ex-military guys sometimes using tyres or heavy ropes to help, last night was a lot of running interspersed with press ups/planks/burpees etc. Hard work! Wanted to pass out and vomit halfway through but I got through it and am going on Saturday morning!

Abis - have you been filling out your food diary? See how you get on this week, and maybe fill out your food diaries for consultant to check. My friend lost nothing in her first week, was really upset but turned out she had been having muesli (Sp?) or something for breakfast and various other things meaning she wasn't really on plan. Good luck this week :)
