Hello all
Just had a quick read through right from the starting post and I'm feeling really motivated from everyone's losses - well done all!!
I joined SW about 4 weeks ago and lost 2.5, 2, 1, 0, then last night another 1 - it's soooooooo slow!! not even half a stone yet!
BUT I'm reacting badly to the change of food lifestyle - I was a convenience food queen previously, lost 11 pounds a month ago with a high-fibre almost-starvation diet, so now all the fruit and veg is making me bloated, constipated, trapped wind, stomach pains - the LOT! I think I'm dying!!I know it's a healthier way to eat and live so wondered if anyone else had suffered at the beginning and whether they had found anything that worked for them?
Many thanks!

The bloatedness does pass - I remember being gassy, crampy - not constipated though. Check your getting all your HE allowance - failing that scan bran with FFcottage cheese/quark/low fat spread.. works a treat
DRINK LOADS! not just water either. Really up the drinkies! (of course not the alcoholic styles)
Think of your tummy as a newborns. It has to rebuild all the "good bacteria" that processes all this fibre and green stuff, plus your body will still be used to breaking down the high fat, salt & calories found in ready meals. It's having to relearn.
Balance your plate, 1/3 of it super free, (yes I get bored of hearing that too) don't skimp on the syns either. The more I've skimped recently and trimed down the allowance on syns the less I have lost. But then my metabolism has changed so much as I have built muscle wherre I have lost fat.
I will say that I haven't had to by any "keep away spot cream" since starting slimming world. A couple of people have complimented me on my complexion too.0 -

Keep at it... it took me about 10 weeks to lose a stone, my friend has just done it in about a month!
Regards the bloating etc, last week was a baaad week for me (and my poor OH!) but generally I've found it to a lot better than it used to be, my indigestion/heartburn has calmed down and as Shellie said, I'm sure my skin is looking better too.

s'weigh in night for me- expecting a gain with all the beer, cake and toddler assistance I have had this week. This last week has been so stressful with ill toddler/smashed tooth toddler and now ill Hubby. I so miss my sleep god only knows how I managed through it all with a newborn as well.
Food planning has dropped to "shove it in the slow cooker and pray!"Fortunately I have been doing SW so long now I simply don't go near the snack'n'crap isles. Even with all the christmas promo stuff out.
I have a uni assignment that I really want to do well in and can't find the motivation to put the words together. Its due in tomorrow! When I work on that I snack like a demon. Just done this weeks shop and I forgot to get the yoghurts. (a staple in my house) *sigh* Hard work this getting super thin some days isn't it guys?

Shellie's given good advice. It's not at all unusual for your body to take time to adjust to the plan. I averaged 1.5 lbs a week when getting to target but still managed 3,5 stone in less than a yearand it's stayed off too. 'They' say it takes time to put on weight so it take time to take it off OR if it comes off slowly it'll stay off. Platitudes abound!:rotfl:Just stick with it, it works! There's a speed soup recipe (link in post 1 of the thread) that some people have used to deal with the bloating/constipation. I've not used it myself but aka Dynorod soup so that tells all!
Good luck with the assignment shellie, you'll feel so much better when you get started.:)0 -
Shellieholly - thank you, you've made perfect sense, I will drink more and treat my newborn tummy a lot better than I did before!!
Good luck for WI tonight!
Maman - thank you too! I have just located Dyno-soup, and going shopping tonight, will report back!!
Thanks all!!

I second upping the fluid intake - my first few weeks on plan I followed it religiously but I wasn't drinking enough. I never really have hydrated properly so that was no surprise to me but then I have one week when I didn't eat 100% on plan but drank loads of water and squash and pepsi max and was expecting a gain...stepped on the scales and had lost 6.5lbs that week! So definitely stick with it
Oh and use those syns - 10-15 a day and I see an average loss of 2-3lbs...less everyday/lower weekly average and I'm lucky to shift a 1lb!
I've just made some cauliflower and horseraddish soup (just 2 portions in case I ended up not liking it) and oh my word it's delish :j Will be making chicken and sweetcorn soup tonight and substituting corn flour for plain as I can not find anywhere at all in our town that has cornflour in stock! That will work out at about 1.5syns per portion. So glad to finally be getting my soup on for the colder weather!
Ooh and just had a call about another job - I've been shortlisted for the assessment centre for that one. It's only taken eleven months to start getting interviews!************************************

Thanks Lush - I havent been using my syns!! My thinking was that staying away from them would mean the weight would come off quicker - I will now allow myself some treats!!
Good luck with the job search!
