I have a query about Healthy Extras - *consults book*

375mls skimmed milk - I just wouldn't drink all that (I only have milk in coffee and I don't like semi or full fat). Could I split my HEA between milk and cheese? i.e. 180mls skimmed milk and 3 LC Extra Light cheese triangles. They're both marked CC.

I'm not technically following SW but I know the answer to this from lurking in this thread! :)

It's generally considered fine to split your HEs, as long as you do it evenly. So 50% one choice and 50% of another as you've done. That should mean your calcium amounts are still as per the recommendations. Personally, I think they only list the whole choices as it would get confusing (not to mention long) to list all the variations. You could also use all of your HEA allowance for cheese and syn the milk if you don't use that much.

The HEA choice is the part of SW's plan that I struggle with the most, since I can't have dairy or soya. I know there's dairy free options on there, but mostly milk replacements. I drink about a cup of almond milk a week, if I have a smoothie. Otherwise none! To be honest, this is probably the entire reason why I haven't signed up to SW as my diet otherwise would fit into EE with barely any modifications. I do enjoy this thread and the mag though, mainly for recipe ideas. :D

BTW, since I'm delurking - I love the Oat ScanBran crushed up and added to porridge to bulk it up. Never tried eating it on its own though. :p

Well done on the loss kandfs mam. beanielou and blodwen keep on going, we will all get there eventually. I do feel like a lot of us are struggling at the moment, not sure why? Is it the colder weather perhaps? It makes me want to snuggle up with a quilt and half a ton of biscuits :rotfl:

Despite struggling to stick to plan I have lost 3lbs this week, I think that was from all my hula hooping! I can actually feel my stomach muscles now though (under an inch of flab) I didn't realise I actually had any :rotfl:

OK, this is my first day on SW. Joined last night and got a pleasant shock on the scales - I was less than I had expected so I only have just over a stone to lose. I've set my target at 10 stone but I think I'll lower it to 9st 10lb. That was my last target when I did WW and I got within 1/2 pound and I just couldn't shift it. Then I gave up. Then I put weight back on. Sigh.

I've been advised to do Extra Easy for the first week. So far I've had:

    Breakfast:
Coffee with sweetener and skimmed milk, 2 turkey rashers and 1 egg fried in Frylight, 1/2 tin of beans, followed by a sliced banana and sliced apple, topped with 0% plain Greek style yogurt, cinnamon and a drizzle of honey (1 Syn). Man I was stuffed when I left for work!

    Snack - a satsuma

    Lunch:
Mugshot Chinese style, 2 x Ryvita Dark Rye with 2 x LC Extra Light triangles (HEA and HEB - see my query below). Mullerlite toffee yog and some fresh brambles/rasps.

Welcome to the thread! I sometimes split my hea, I will use half for my cereal and then have some cheese on an omelette or something later. As long as it all adds up then surely it's ok?

  • Hi all,

have had a really good week but I'm already mentally beating myself up by expecting a gain at WI tomorrow night :( need to get out of this cycle!

Have eaten really well/at least as well as usual, swam twice, gymmed once and zumba'd as well as doing my usual 60mins a day walking etc so really wouldn't be impressed with a gain :(

Just as an aside (warning TMI here!) I am really constipated so think it may be that contributing to my mental attitude as I'm feeling bloated etc. Anybody got a SW friendly/non tablet way to battle it in time for WI tomorrow??

Is that what's called a NSV?;)

On the splitting of HEXs, absolutley no problem. I wouldn't be too concerned at the 50:50 idea at the moment (keep that for later), just split it to suit. While I'm not advocating too much deviating from the plan I think it's a good idea to have ways of tightening up if/when weight stalls. I measured my milk when I first started SW so I knew what my day's allowance looked like/how many teas I could make then I played it by ear. I always knew I could be stricter with myself if need be.

lush, I don't know of any really quickfixes but yours is a common problem with SW. Scanbran, dyno rod soup etc are all said to work but not that quickly!;)

    Good EE day today:

B: small juice, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: grazed on LO chicken and banana
D: lamb chops, roasties, carrots, cabbage, gravy
    Syns: juice, gravy
  • I didn't want to resort to tablets but I'm thinking I might run out and get some/get some on the way back from the gym tonight :/

Recommending medication isn't allowed but there are herbal type remedies available or have a chat with the pharmacist.

Someone, somewhere mentioned making a sort of Ferrero Rocher from Scanbran (which I don't usually buy) but I will make an exception if people think they're worth it.

    Anybody made them?
    Are they nice?
    How many syns?
  • Back last week from holidays and I managed to put on 3lbs. Not overly shocked and am back on track now.

  • Thanks for the replies to my query. I have about 3 cups of coffee a day during the week and maybe 6 cups a day at the weekend. LC Extra Light - they're not very nice are they? I think I would prefer to eat less of the fatter version and Syn my milk.
