Grippers! Could catch on!:rotfl:
Forgot I'd been paid today so just done the usual monthly money shuffle. Managed to put another £120 into various savings and will hopefully add to it at the end of the month. That's £300 saved since the beginning of the year now - not too bad but would like to get to £500 by the end of March. Feb is a short month so who knows maybe I'll manage another £50 this month? Will try.
I could save more by cutting right back but I have to have a life too so its a bit of a balance at the moment.
Just remembered - I should get an extra £250 minimum for working next week so will probably save £200 of that and splurge £50ish as a treat. So the £500 target should be well and truly busted - perhaps I should rethink and give myself a challenge. Maybe £650 by the end of March?0 -
Morning all!
Its the weekend and there's no urgent schoolwork to do today so I'm trying to think of something to do. I need to get some fresh air and exercise to blow away the cobwebs - won't do the dog any harm to get a bit out of puff either.
So, I think I'll go for a big walk in the countryside somewhere.
There's the usual weekend chores to be done too - cleaning, shopping etc.
I'm definitely going to do the Tae Bo dvd too.
I'll have a little mooch around the meetup groups and Spice sites too - its about time I got a bit more sociable again now the days are drawing out a bit.
Will pop back later with an update. Hope everyone has a good day - the sun is out here (for now!)0 -
Afternoon all!
Had a good day so far.
Took the dog for a lovely long walk around the waterpark and along the river - very mucky but the sun was out and it was fairly warm, took about 90 mins so a good bit of fresh air and exercise.
Then I went to the Trafford Centre for a little look - bought a nice bright red patterned shirt type smartish top with 20% off and then found a pretty purple patterned short sleeved satin top for £7 in the sale - I won't be wearing it for a while but it will certainly be a nice one for warmer times.:)
I was going to go to the cinema but when I looked there wasn't really anything that grabbed me and at almost £10 a ticket I didn't see the point of going for the sake of it.
So instead I went to the hairdressers for a chat and some advice on what to do with the unruly mop - we've decided to strip the colour off completely, recolour it with a reddish brown (its very dark brown naturally but I want a change) and restyle it - all to be done next Saturday. Quite looking forward to it - I've had more or less the same colour forever as its so difficult to colour as nothing shows up (except the grey!) so we're going to start from scratch.
Also got my eyebrows done (only a fiver and quick and fairly painless) - they look much better now.
A quick whizz round Tescos and now I'm back home and its almost dog walk time again.
I think this time of year is the worst for looking good - I'm all pale (for me, quite dark skinned but no colour at the moment if you know what I mean), feel grey and dull even though I exfoliate regularly and dye my hair and just look tired.
Hence the eyebrows, a sneaky sunbed tomorrow and the change of hair colour.
I'm determined to look better when I go back to work so plenty of exercise, a bit of a makeover and some sleep are needed.
Just off to get changed out of the glad rags and back into the dog scruffs to get a bit more sunshine before the night draws in.
Will have a bath and watch a movie later and try to have an early night - realised I'm starting to look my age and I don't want to!0 -
Hi WW and everyone
Well, its been a lovely day here today (Lancashire) sunny and even a little bit warm! Dare I say that Spring might be on its way. My garden full of snowdrops too, looks really cheerful.
Up early this morning doing some cleaning. Then into town for a peruse round, was meeting my friend after she had been to the hairdressers but she was late out so I spent a bit more than I should have but only on food etc so nothing too extravagant.
We went to Wethersp***s for a coffee and a chat, planning our car boot sale for a couple of weeks off. I must say we are getting very excited about it all!!!! The decluttering in my house has started in earnest, all the stuff I havent managed to sell on Ebay or Amazon is going to find its way onto our stall.
So had a good walk today what with one thing and another so a bit tired now. Going to have a nice tea and put my feet up. Maybe have a glass of wine or two later and watch something on the sky box.
I know what you mean WW about not letting things slide, I am determined to make a real effort now to improve my diet and fitness. A good diet and plenty of fresh air and exercise is the best beauty regime there is! Stress and hard work really take their toll. We need to stop it its tracks!
The get a grippers are getting a grip big style (but not paying through the nose to do it eh)
PS I love going to the pictures on my own sometimes but you are right it is so expensive. Best to go during the day during the week if you can its usually cheaper.0 -
Hi Sanch - the car boot sounds like fun. I've never been to one - they seem to pass me by somehow.
Just walked the dog and popped in to book a sunbed but it was free then so jumped in just for 6 mins - look a bit healthier already. I won't go mad and end up orange, just not like death warmed up!
I've booked Taken 2 to watch on Box Office tonight - £4 much cheaper than the cinema and I get to lie on the sofa in pyjamas - what's not to like!
I've also joined a new Meetup group for Lancashire dogwalkers - will have to travel a bit but don't mind if the woofer is with me and not being left at home for ages on his own. The first walk is yet to have a date but it sounds like fun, especially as spring is on its way. Isn't it funny how a bit of sunshine really makes you feel so much better?0 -
Hiya
I know what you mean about the sunshine. A bit of colour really does make you look and feel better doesnt it. Like you say though dont get Tangoed!!
Ive had a quick look at that Lancashire dog walkers, it seems a really good idea and I bet alot of people will join. Good for the owners and for the dogs too who can socialise with other dogs. Its funny isnt it when dogs see each other even across the street, they cant help gawping at each other!
I would like to join but my dog is old and arthritic and has a job to walk to the end of the road now. I suppose I could always borrow a dog, I will give it some thought. The postcode they quote is about 20 mins travel from where I live so its all local. Groups are springing up all the time on that site aren't they. Its such a good idea.
Enjoy Taken 2 - Ive seen Taken 1 and thought it was entertaining0 -
Well done on all the "gripping"
Theres nothing like a bit of sun to make it feel like spring .....
Started the "spring cleaning" by clearing out my DS's room which hasnt seen the light of day for months apart from a quick hoover on the bits of uncovered floor and clean sheets every week
We emptied the entire room, DS hoovered and I washed the skirtings. DS moved the bed from under the window to the opposite wall and when it was moved there was black mould on the wall
I am not sure if this is because the room is small and with the heat from laptop/xbox etc and sweat etcor if there is a leak coming in from the window letting rain in. I have washed off most of the black stuff with stardrops and a few drops of bleach so will see if it comes back now the bed is no longer there.
Oh and 2 more bags of old clothes bagged up for charity shop
All the stuff he took out of the room has been put in the spare room so just have to go through that and get him to part with some of it.... hes a terrible hoarder, cant think where he gets it fromThe rest can go to the charity shop
Didnt get for a walk today but the room cleaning took 4 hours so will forgive myself for today0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Hi Skint - spring cleaning is exhausting! Definitely counts as exercise! I might have a go sometime this week - at least make a start anyway.
Sanch - I'll let you know how the dog walking thing goes. Taken 2 was OK - a typical sequel though. Only 90 mins long - the perfect length for me, I get fidgety after about an hour
Have booked on for a couple of Spice things in the next few weeks and a couple of the meetup group walks - now the weather is a bit better (probably won't last though) I feel like I should be out and about a bit more - makes me sound like a pensioner :rotfl:
Just watched The Following - I am enjoying it and am recording Vegas - we'll see if thats another hour's worth of escapist telly I can lose myself with.
ETA - The dog has just done the biggest trump in history :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: He even barked at his bum!0 -

WW hilarious about the dog fart :rotfl:Reminded me of my ex-husb :rotfl:
The Following - is that the serial killer one with Kevin Bacon? I would have liked to watch that but its on Sky Atlantic which we dont have. Will have to wait for it to come out on DVD
Sun is shining here in the south this morning. Dishwasher is on and first load of washing almost finished. Hope to get 3 loads done today..... where does it all come from
Will do a bit of clothes sorting today for charity shop, but am going to take it easy (it is sunday after all !!) as my back and neck are aching today and I dont want to overdo it and make my trapped nerve worse.

Yes - its the one with Kevin Bacon - very good so far.
Just back from a jog with the dog - saw loads of joggers yesterday along the river bank and so decided to go myself today.
We did 40 mins of interval training - running for 2 mins then walk for 30 secs - he's only little so didn't want to tire him out too much (that's my excuse anyway). He's now retired back to the couch - not sure that's what Couch to 5K is all about :rotfl:
The sunshine, exercise and fresh air did me the world of good and I feel fab now - in fact just about to have a go at the new Tae Bo DVD.
Hope we all have a good day - make the most of the weather grippers!0
