  • I was going to say Good Morning and then I noticed the time:eek: But at least I have finished my chores and have a time for a quick catch up on here before making the lunch

I had a lovely time yesterday at my SiL's - she made a delicious lunch and I was able to do some stitching on "Sophie's Stocking" while catching up with all the family news etc. Then in the evening I did more stitching on my card for the exchange.

chicky thank you for the link to the Stitchers' Christmas - I've bought from this site before and been very pleased with the service. I have been very good recently and resisted a lot of temptation to add to my stash but at this price I could afford it from my pp balance so it didn't feel like spending money :D

Wonder how many others will be similarly tempted and whether we will organise a stitch a long (SAL) for next year?

I would love to stitch the revised version of A Night Before Christmas

chicky and maria I can't offer anything other than sympathy. Men do seem to have more of the selfish gene than most (though not all) women

postingalwaysposting welcome back. I remember your London design and am looking forward to seeing an update

laura I love that Monet design. It would be expensive to have to buy all the skeins for this but you wouldn't use all of them so would have also made a start on your threads collection:D
I went to a Monet exhibition in the summer and would love to stitch this one having seen the original

MallowBrain There aren't a lot of places in the UK which sell Lizzie Kate charts and kits - sewandso probably has the most extensive range and their service is excellent. However it is worth searching on ebay as there are usually charts and sometimes kits for sale on there. Which fabric are you looking for?

    Right off to make lunch
  • Thankyou all for your warm welomes. I haven't picked London back up just yet FOS decided to start off slowly ;)

So one of you lovely ladys sent me some evenweave to try before buying a Heratiage London design. So I started this rose but went wrong, after unpicking I managed to get a few stitches down. This is what I have done up to now after spending 45min on it yesterday -

This is what it will look like, replacing the month with either Mum or Rose -

Hope you all have a good Sunday, enjoy your spending Chicky :rotfl:

They have lots of "show offers", and special deals - I would think it's about the same as the internet, plus a lot of chances to look at samples, and ask questions. I am pretty sure black sheep was there yesterday, although I wasn't really looking for kits or wool so I didn't bother to pay it too much attention.

There's stuff to look at too -- there was a big quilting display, a machine embroidery competition display, and the costumes from Pride and Prejudice - which is good, because you have to pay £6-10 to get in to these things.

You should go, just to see if you like it :)

Which one was that...? I missed it.

There was a vintage fair in town yesterday which I missed - should have liked to go to that as well, but you can't be in two places at once can you :)

It was this one I saw it advertised in a cross stitch mag. Where was the show yesterday in relation to the city centre or I suppose the train station ??? I think I might have to go next year !

It's at Westpoint - which is out of town, I believe there's a bus from the station to the event though - or at least there used to be. The AA thinks it's 9 miles from the station.

If it's Exeter you want to go to, there's this one next year, in January... http://www.craft4crafters.co.uk/showevent.php?show_id=32
  • Brrr Just had to put on a thicker jumper and at this rate the heating will be on this evening

flat eric well done on the organising I hate it when I can't find something I need - such a waste of valuable stitching time. Craft Shows are great and stalls often have special show offers so there are bargains to be had and I love seeing the stitched models etc There are usually workshops which give you the chance to try different techniques. Definitely a good day out IMHO

tellmeitsfriday I'm not at all surprised you couldn't resist spending at the Polstitches stand. Her stuff is tempting enough on the website but in the flesh ...... fabulous colours you have chosen.

mrsmp Thanks (I think) for the other special date. Think I will have to stick to something small like a coaster or scissors fob for at least one of these and perhaps finish a UFO

Ailsb Love your idea of starting a piece on 10 11 12 and finishing it on 11 12 13 I'm thinking a band sampler might be good for this...... I love the Shipping Forecast blackwork

Maria You're making great progress with the table mats

ocemeer the bit is really cute

shelly Sorry I haven't got that issue of Cross Stitch Collection but it is still available as a back issue for £4.99 inc p&p which is the cover price so what you would have paid in the shops
linky And if you use cashback sites such as Quidco or Topcashback you can get a discount :money:

These are the charts I mentioned in an earlier post. I was thinking of getting the Christmas aida pack from Cross Stitch Heaven and using the sparkly for the santa and the snowman or penguin, the green for the tree which will eliminate some of the background stitching and then using the other colours for the other designs. Opinions gratefully received.

Just been looking at Cross Stitch Heaven. Oh dear, another site to add to my favourites :rotfl:

Not sure which Christmas pack you are ordering but I would stitch Silent Night and Snowy Night on the sparkly aida.
Snowman on the dark blue aida
    Penguin on the red aida
    Santa on the green aida
and xmas tree on the white aida

love the owl by the way!
  • brendall "alright" is a bit of an understatement! its lovely really nice design and the backs lovey and neat as well.

finished my freebie lizzie kate design, and just started another one
