  • Cross Stitch Heaven is a lovely site and I have found the service to be excellent - perhaps it should be added to our list at the beginning of the thread?

think you'll find it already is.

I like the blackwork pattern - or should I say the purplework pattern. I'm sure it will make a lovely present.

I have finished my first fairy today. You can't really see from the photo but it is stitched in dark blue with the leaves a lighter blue and is on light blue aida. I picked up a silver frame from Poundland so all I need is a mount and that's one present down.

Will wait for the iridescent aida before I stitch the other fairy. This one I'm doing with a toadstool and 2 or 3 (haven't decided yet - depends what fits in my frame - again from Poundland) stitched in purple.

Feel like I am on a roll at the moment. Maybe having an infection and not being able to sleep does have it's upside. :D

Back on just to say welcome back Chicky - glad you had a nice break and the weather didn't hold you back. I always find I don't manage to stitch much on holiday: normally with others, light snot good, have a drink etc.

    Good evening everybody! :hello:

Not much stitching the last couple of days, think I stitched myself out finishing off the cushion! :) Anyways, I did do something constructive last night- I practiced french knots! I've never been able to do them and after a few try I finally managed and then practiced a few more to make sure!

Mentioned to my husband the idea of a 12.12.12 project and a 20.12.2012 and he thinks it's a nice idea to have one of each and them I can frame them and put them up at christmas. Need 2 fairly small but not too small designs now to start, and then finish on 12.12.12 and 20.12.2012. And still need to keep up with the baby sampler! :)
  • Welcome back Simac.

fos - love the christmas trees. They do make lovely pics.

tricksie - looking forward to seeing London Sampler.

Ruth_honey - hope visit to dentist wasn't too painful (or expensive).

Louise - love the framed finishes. Great job with the framing too.

brednall - well done with owl. Like the other designs too.

sweetcarer - that looks lovely especially doing it in lavender and purple. Would love to do something like that sometime.

    chicky - welcome back. :hello:

Ailsb - fairy is lovely - especially in the dark blue.

laura - I don't usually mind french knots too much except occasionally they just disappear like magic. :p:D

Update on my Cross Stitch Heaven order - they are awaiting delivery of thread :( (hopefully Monday) so it shouldn't be too long before the postie is on his way.

Probably not much stitching done over the weekend as we are going down to visit relations (near York) on Sunday weather permitting. Might need to bring dingy and snorkels with us the way things are looking. More rain and winds forecast for Sunday apparently. Hope none of you have suffered too much with all of this rain.

Hope you all manage some stitchy time over the weekend.

[STRIKE]Evening all [/STRIKE] (still half asleep) Morning all

    Hope all are well. :j

Well I'm full of cold and can't stop sneezing. - not a great combination when you want to stitch so no stitching managed last night and not sure about any for today. do want to start tidy up though that I mentioned earlier in the week.

watched the new Johnny English film last night. I quite enjoyed it. :T

So I've had an idea of stitching a Pandora'$ bracelet themed cross stitch as a present for my friend.....

    let me explain.....

I have the idea of stitching 3 designs to fit in this

I've decided on the designs but what I can't decide is whether I should stitch on the same coloured aida for each side (all on white) or whether it would matter if there was one white, one cream and one blue? (or one on that patterned aida).

I also can't decide whether to cut the material to size BEFORE I start stitching as a few of the designs I have in mind are too big and I will need to adapt them. If I have the exact piece of material that will fit to start with when I start the stitching then I can hopefully plot exactly where everything should go ? OR I could just stitch the design and cut to size afterwards.

The Pandora theme (you might be wondering) comes from the idea that for special events in the future, I will stitch a new design so then my friend can alternate to keep things interesting.

ps re lizzie kate. Sew and so are selling an xmas themed mag - you can find it if you look at their 100 top charts list.

This is stated to include Lizzie Kate designs (but it doesn't say how many). Its temporary out of stock at the moment though.

    edited to add:
    this is the mag

New issue of Cross Stitcher arrived yesterday.

out of interest - has anyone ever ordered threads from Mr J Wood of 6 Hopney Cottages in Pershore? I have seen the advert for as long as I have been buying the mag - currently 8m dmc threads are 57p :T

BEG-the dentist was fine, thanks. Just a quick check up and no issues, so was in & out in a few minutes. And I'm on DH dental plan, so all good...:)

I spent yesterday afternoon looking for fabric for my exchange card. Blossom was very interested and wanted to help...

Found loads of Christmas designs that I want to stitch and I also gathered up some Halloween charts that might fit the frame I mentioned in an earlier post. I hope I'll get time to stitch something this weekend, but I've got tons to do. Housework, errands, getting ready for mum to visit soon. Need to do a food order, too. Oh, I feel tired just thinking about it all...
