Yes I know what charity the person was representing. I suppose not even giving him chance to speak put us both on the wrong foot - I'm too nice to complain although I know I should. I do object to being stopped in the street by people with clipboards trying to get you to sign up to donate money and I object even more to people knocking at the door. Perhaps I should invest in one of those signs....:rotfl: I also object that the charities obviously have to pay for these people in some way. At the end of the day they are doing a job and it must be hard work as I imagine most people are not interested.
So no stitching yesterday (too much time on farm ville!) and not sure what plans are for today yet....0 -
Had a lovely (but non-stitchy) day yesterday. I went out for lunch with some friends I met on holiday. We found a fabulous little pub, with lovely food. Then we spent a couple of hours wandering round a huge garden centre.
(OMG, I'm turning into my mother....:rotfl:)
So. Today will be for stitching. I need to do the washing, but that'll only take a few minutes for loading/unloading. At least I don't have to do the actual work0 -

Haha that made me laugh
I love huge garden centres too - I don't even do much gardening, I am likely to plop a few green things in holes and hope they grow - but I still like them.
Yesterday I went to Clark's Village (which is one of those outlet villages) - had a lovely day, bought a couple of tops and a jumper and had lunch with a friend, so that was nice.
Today I plan to get the sewing machine out - just for some quick repairs (work trousers - trouser leg hems, need I say more!).
Then either cross stitch or crochet for the rest of the day... Yay for lazy Sundays!
Have a lovely day everyone.. I like hearing what people get up toxx

Hi ladies.
Not posted for a few days so apologies if I go over old news.
AM. I hope you get your stitchy bug back soon, sorry no ideas how to get it back unfortunatelyI'm lucky that these days mine only goes AWOL for a day or two.
I'd probably advise the same as mum2toboys and do a day or 2 on the LL then a day or 2 on DOB if you feel the DOB will become a UFO.
Mumto2boys. Look forward to updates of your next designs, especially the White Tigers.
Ruth. re your decorating: Personally I'd try to get all the painting done before the new carpet is laid. I'd hate to tempt fate and leave it then spill paint on a brand new carpet!
Nice one on finding £10.
Charlie. You have had good advice about the difference between aida and evenweave and all I would add is that if all of the fabric is going to be stitched on go for aida. If there's going to be fabric on show, go for the evenweave. Evenweave looks much nicer than aida when the stitching is finished.
Aida is much more forgiving than evenweave though, evenweave tends to distort/go out of shape if you pull your stitches too tight so you have to be a little more gentle with evenweave.
Ailsb. Hope your stones get treated soon.
Winniepooh. Nice update.
Mrsmp. Tinkerbell looks good, I like those sketch type designs. Nice bookmark too.
Soulie. Glad your chemo went ok friday.
Bobbi. That's great news about the LL! Fingers crossed they are still gone once it's completely dry.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Good Morning Girls
Hope you are all well, I am ok - bit tired but ok - taking a wee break between chores before I get my reward later - more work on purplework - would love to finish it for 31-3-13. Would show a photo but batteries dead in camera - only got a bit done.BOBBIs_MUMMY wrote: »Good News!!
Finally got round to hand washing lilliput lane cross stitch this afternoon in stardrops plus a little bit of pre wash soap (Morrisons version of Vanish) and the marks appear to have gone!!:j:j waiting for it to dry completely but so far so good
So glad you got your piece cleaned - I have never been frightened to wash something old as what have I got to loose. Always wary of new things tho as I don't want to ruin them but with the confidence of the girls here I feel ok and if I use good material and threads it will be ok.I am doing well. Cheno went good yesterday, and was a lot quicker than the last time, so that was good, mind you, I spent a lot of time chatting with my neighbour and her son, so that helped to pass the time too. Just waiting for the achyness to kick back in again lol
Glad all is going as well as it can for you. Can you not sneak some stitching in or is it too much to do.flowerofscotland wrote: »It is probable that the person at your door was working on commission for a sales company. I don't like it when they come to the door - need to get one of those signs say thanks but no thanks to my door. Caught a charity one out a few years ago. I have always been involved with a lot of charities fundraising committees and been on a few in my time. One time I was on an Epilepsy one. So one night I was just finishing dinner and some one came to the door claiming to be from the Epilepsy one I was involved in. I asked him where his card was, he said in the car, did he want me to get it, asked him who sent him, where his office was, he couldn't answer them as it was confidential. I said do you know what the local police stations number was he was puzzled and I said I will be phoning it and reporting him for embezzlement and fraud - he then ran off. I did phone the police to warn them he was doing his rounds.
I like to pay my charities that I want to - not because someone comes to the door. I know they have to earn money but I am still sceptical.
Well better check on FB and then back to my chores - a wee bit of shopping and put the washing out - was late putting it on - thought I had when I woke but noticed it wasn't when I went to check on something.
Keep well everyone, kind wishes,

GGGRRRRRRR How crazy am I??? Second thoughts - don't answer that.
I have just realised this morning that I have confused two symbols on Sleeping Beauty - the colours are at opposite ends of the spectrum - how could I be so dense
Will see how much I can unpick and restitch over the next couple of days - only 3 A4 pages to check.
On the brighter side of life, I won an auction for a new kit on Eb@y this morning (so that I can get more practice at sorting colours).
Oh well, better dash and get back to the unpicking.
Will catch up properly later today with you all.
Hope you all manage some worthwhile stitchy time.
