Nnm - thanks for the copy and paste info, wil, give it a go later. Tried to get photo to fliker just and its not playing ball. Need to walk away from it for a bit.

Fos - I've finished all of the Kloster blocks and then cut but it loks mesy. Do I cut the whole square out or leave the threads and bind them in the middle? Need to find an online tutorial.

Ruth - what a luckh find. Now what kut could you buy with free£10?

Charlie- 14 count aida and 2o count evenweave stitces to the same size, but with the aida you stitch 1 over 1 whereas the evenweave you stitch 2 over 2 - does that make sense. If the design has fractional stitches these are easier on evenweave. If not it a matter of preference, evenweave, because its holes are closer doesn't look so open when finished. I'm sure someone else will be along shortly who can explain it better than I have.

Gave in to the Readycut lucky dip promotion and bought a christmas kit and also the felt christmas kit. Figured I could use whatever comes as a present. Just been paid and thought I deserved a treat. Had my scan this morning and they have found I have gall stones. Thank God that's all they found came out a lot happier than I went in.

Off to shorten my curtains now which have been on my list over 2 years.

Lol! I like your thinking. Ended up spending it on lunch with a friend this afternoon. Curry AND dessert. :D But there's a chance I might be coming into some money soon, so I may well treat myself to a new kit at the Excel show in April. Got lots of fab kits on my Sew & So wish list. Or I could get something I've already finished framed up...
Golden Gate Bridge would look nice in the living room when the painting has been done.

What will they do about your gallstones? Have they been causing you pain? I had some removed late last year. So pleased they're gone as they were causing me so much pain. My scars are tiny too. Very impressed with the surgeons stitching/glueing. :T

Ruth - not sure what they will do. Had a few episodes of pain, the last really bad one was just before christmas and it took about 10 days to calm down. Now takjng lansopradol (?) every other day plus gaviscon most days. Pleased its only gall stones as managed to convince myself it was something nasty.

Don't remember yiur Golden Gate Bridge design. The sensibke me says frame something you've finished the "me" me would end up buying something new.

10 days??? How on earth did you cope? I was crying in pain after an attack lasting a few hours. I am so pleased that I had a scan and found out what it was so I could get it sorted quickly. Thought it was food allergies or something for ages. My surgery was done in October and I was in hospital for 2 nights. Yes, it took me a while to get back to normal but I've not had an attack since, thank goodness. I was getting to the point where I was dreading the weekend because my attacks seemed to come on worse then.

I finished Golden Gate Bridge a few years ago (didn't realise it was quite that long!)? I've got a frame, but need a mount cut. Have a few more to frame up too. Mostly small ones. I hate the framing bit. Takes too long to wash, dry, iron and frame. Then decide where it'll hang...

  • Charlie - tiger looks stunning - you MUST finish him :D

mumto2boys - well done on completing Somebunny. It looks lovely and not surprised it was well received. Next project?

nmm - lovely update on BD

brednall - I only cut one length of thread at a time - probably about 40cm (at a guess) for larger projects then fold them and use the loop through method for starting off (only discovered this method last year and it does help in trying to keep things a bit neater on the back) :o

perrywinkle - :hello: and welcome to the Cafe.

JCS1 - ooooh she is gorgeous. Looking forward to the updates.

Ailsb - hope you manage to 'get sorted' soon - at least you know what is causing the problems.

Spent most of yesterday at Mums's waiting with her for workmen to arrive so I took Sleeping Beauty with me and managed to do a fair bit. Page 4 is getting well on the way now then I will have to go back and tackle Page 1 (thought I'd already done this as I have rolled the aida out of the way with it being huge). Oh well - its getting there and I'm quite enjoying it atm.

    Take care everyone

I know I never post here anymore (I lurk and post my WIPs on the Flickr Group) so forgive the intrusion, but thought I would mention Ailsb that I've been stitching Mabel's designs for a while and she is a lovely lovely lady, so if you are having any problems drop her an email and she will be more than happy to help you out. Also have you checked out her SAL blog (different to her Flights of Fancy blog) - each month she writes two posts with lots of pictures and more detailed instructions for that month's piece. Cutting your work can be scary and confusing when you do it for the first time, but "seeing" the process rather than reading about it helps a lot!

Sorry to hear about your gallstones, on a side note and OT - I had my gallbladder out in April 2010 after being diagnosed as having gallstones 2 years previously. I put off having the op and controlled them by diet - then my gallbladder ended up being infected and I was in bed for 2 weeks and decided that it was time it came out!!! By the time it came out it had almost doubled in size (it was touch and go whether they could carry on with the op without opening me up rather than keyhole) and had adhered itself to my liver - lovely! Needless to say I was very glad I had the op! The lesson I learnt from this was to deal with things sooner rather than later.

Anyway, I've rambled on for long enough - I will leave you all in peace !
