    Afternoon,

Hopefully should get buttercup farm finished this week, just the sky and a small amount of backstitching to go.

I did give in to a catalogue from Readicut/I Love Cross Stitch website, and got this to add to the stash:

    th?id=H.4812855359374565&pid=1.7&w=148&h=153&c=7&rs=1

Hope everyone is keeping well and manages some stitching this weekend.

    x

I love this and the price you paid is a bargain

Morning all, light snow here and football practice!
I'm working on 2 stockings at the moment 1 is done and the other is half done, want them finished for when mum comes and visits so she can help make them into stockings.

Eric how exciting all them magazines, you could remove the pages you want or what I do is have 2 piles of mags 1 with nothing I want to do in, but I keep in case I need somthing for a card or Pressie. Then my 2nd pile is ones that have things I definatly want to do and I mark the chart with a page marker. Will pop off and find a link to a page marker brb

I'm back like these ones, but I have seen them in my local pound shop

    Hi ladies.

Chicky. Nice font for DOH. I'm sure your friend will love it.

JCS. The lady with the bird cage looks stunning! Look forward to seeing progress on it when you get started.

Do any of you crochet? I fancy learning just enough to make a couple of blankets/throws.

Rugby back on the tv this weekend, yay! Hope to get some stitching done whilst watching/listening.

Have loved reading all the posts about crochet but don't have any advice to add. I think it is probably the only Needlecraft which has defeated me. My Mum tried to show lots of times but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Then it went out of fashion but now it's back a again I would love to try again Not that I have time for any newhobbies :rotfl:
  • Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this forum.

But i was wondering how do you guys keep yourselves motivated when working on a big project?

I started one years ago and I cant even bare to look at it, which is sad as I'd love to finish it.

It's a stunning piece but stitching isn't supposed to be a chore. I'd suggest starting something else, something small that can be finished fairly quickly. Perhaps set yourself one day a week where you stitch the tiger and then post photos of your progress on here. We love to see update pics and the encouragement may help. I get bored with large projects so I have multiple projects in progress and the big ones do get finished (well most of them :D). Good luck and hope we can inspire you to enjoy your xs

A few random thoughts before I go to bed. Sorry it's a long and rambling but I'm too tired to write elegantly !

. Thanks for the ideas on how to store my left over lengths of thread. Being a silly whats'it I have always thrown out the details of thread numbers when I've finished the kits so I've got a big heap of glorious colours but no idea what numbers they are. SO I've sorted them out into colour groups and put each group into a ziplock (thanks for the idea) and then into a Really Useful box.

I put my finished grubby work into the washing machine in a lingerie bag on 30 degrees. BUT I do a test piece first with a few stitches of each thread on a piece of scrap aida to see if any of the colours run. (I put it in with towels and teacloths etc so if it does run it doesn't hurt).

I've acquired over 100 old cross stitch magazines going back to 1999 ! The mum of a man (Ben) who works with my sister (are you following me ?) has had a clear out as she's moved onto card making, and Ben asked my sis if she'd like them - she is crafty as well. I've flicked through them all but need to decide what to do next - how do I earmark the charts I'd like to stitch ?

Does anyone subscribe to Pinterest ? I joined a few weeks ago and am hooked on looking at other people's cross stitch pins. There are so any freebie charts available especially small Christmas pics which I'm stitching up for cards.

Right, going to spend 15 mins on the Guardian cryptic crossword now - it is posted on their website at midnight and keeps me up until 1am.

    Linda xx

I love Pinterest. Can easily lose an hour without noticing

I use the little post it markers to stick on the designs I really like in magazines. I buy them from £ shops If there is a design I plan to stitch immediately/soon I will do a photocopy, often enlarged to A3, which will be my working copy that I mark off as I stitch I then kit up the chart and put everything into a plastic folder I know some people take out the designs they like and file them in poly pockets and ring binders but I like to keep my mags intact. I would love to enter the designs I like onto a spreadsheet so that I could filter them and always find what I'm looking for but I've never had the time - it would eat into stitching time. What a lovely gift.
  • Sorry for the flurry of emails but I will leave you all in peace soon. Have invited ourselves to SiL for the day as came home on Thurs to cold house. To cut a long story short we need a new boiler  will be started Mon so managing with a fan heater, 2 oil filed radiators, quilts, hotties etc. just like the days before central heating - you can get one room warm and then get a shock when moving to another:eek:

Have a good day everyone and stay warm :D
  • Hi All,

Snowing here today, just a flurry but enough of an excuse to stay in and stitch :p

Here's a couple of little finishes. The first is a keyring I've made for my boyfriend since he's just bought a classic mini. He designed it and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

The second is a 50th birthday card for my best friends mum. She loves angels and fairies so hopefully this will hit the mark.

I like the idea of a spreadsheet - I tend to manage my life with them ! :rotfl:  :D I just need a few snowed-in days so I can go through 100+ mags. What I have noticed (it might just be rose coloured specs) is the older mags seem to have a much better selection of projects than nowadays.

It was a lovely gift from a stranger, she was pleased she could pass them onto another stitcher rather than they end up in a paper recycling sack ! I bought her some die cutting stuff as a thank you. I also sold some of the mags I didn't like at a charity fair - they didn't raise much but charities need every penny these days.
  • Just popping on quick. Love all the completed pictures. Chicky, DOH looks amazing and the wee quote just finishes it off perfectly.

I am looking forward to settling down tonight and stitching. Finally got my house perfect. Every item in my home has a meaning to us, and all the junky stuff has been relocated to either ebay, charity shop or dump.

I love getting up in the morning and everything being tidy, no boxes or tubs anywhere. We have got in a wee habit of cleaning as we go so no big pile of dishes or masses of washing hanging around.

Going swimming today with Jaxon. We are going to try and go once a fortnight to get him used to the pool as last year on holiday he didn't really like it and I would like him to enjoy it more this year.

Then will spend a while today putting items on Turbo Lister ready to list on eBay tomorrow afternoon, and then stitch tonight.

Hope everyone has a lovely day....xx
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)
