FOS - the wine bottle pattern you posted a link to is really nice, we seem to have similar tastes:)

Maria - your little feet are really cute. I downloaded loads from the makingspot last month but didnt see if this, may have to revisit. It never fails to amaze me how we all use the same magazines and sites but still manage to find other things to tempt each other with. The list just keeps growing - unfortunately the time doesn't.:D

Chicky - well done on finishing DOH, the font and wording looks really good, I'm sure your friend will be delighted with it.

M-o-s and BEG - I've had the email re subscription and I'm also tempted but don't know if I have the space for storing more magazines.

Shelly - congratulationsnon birthday and anniversary, sounds like you've had a lovely week.

Winniepooh - well done on finishing the bear, its always feels so good to finish somthing when its taken such a long time. Having said that I have been known to feel a bit deflated when I've finished a large piece and then struggle to motivate myself for a while.

Laura - glad girls aloud were good.

Louise - if you're out there hope this are ok.

    Afternoon,

Hopefully should get buttercup farm finished this week, just the sky and a small amount of backstitching to go.

I did give in to a catalogue from Readicut/I Love Cross Stitch website, and got this to add to the stash:

Hope everyone is keeping well and manages some stitching this weekend.

    Hi ladies.

Chicky. Nice font for DOH. I'm sure your friend will love it.

JCS. The lady with the bird cage looks stunning! Look forward to seeing progress on it when you get started.

Do any of you crochet? I fancy learning just enough to make a couple of blankets/throws.

Rugby back on the tv this weekend, yay! Hope to get some stitching done whilst watching/listening.

How easy is it to learn and how did you learn? I was thinking of looking at youtube because I asked my Mum (who is an avid knitter) but she crocheted years ago and can't remember enough to help me.
Like I said, I only want to learn enough to make a blanket/throw from start to finish.

Any help, tips, links or advice will be much appreciated! :)

    Thanks

Youtube - it's your friend (and my gran - who taught me how to hold the wool/hooky thing properly)

I have been making little "granny squares" - the hardest thing I've found is keeping the edges straight, so anything in a circle is ideal for me at the moment. I will pop some links up when I get home - I've been collecting stuff to practice.

Get wool which is tightly spun to start with, or even dishcloth string, because it's really easy to end up with a fluffy mess otherwise.

I have a little learner leaflet which I can email to you if you want it... It explains things well..

Oh, and look at "Attic24" - she has a blog and a good facebook page - her tutorials are brilliant :)
  • definately youtube, im a self taught lefty so it helps me watching a mirrior image of what im meant to be doing. i can do granny squares and have managed a ruffle scarf. i find crochet grows quicker than knitting

JCS love the addition to your stash

I love this. It's on my sew and so wish list, I have a bit of a red themed lady thing going on in my guest bedroom so it would be an ideal addition.

Done a couple of hours on my 'Map' today but DH will be home from work soon and then we are off to the Broadstairs Blues Bash for the weekend. Really cold here and been snowing lightly all morning so I just know I'm gonna freeze for the next two days.

Have a lovely stitchy weekend everyone :)

  • JCS1 - love the new lady with birdcage. Looking forward to seeing how you get along with it.

WOCS arrived today. Just said to DH that I didn't know what to do next and he said 'Go and stitch for a couple of hours as we have a busy week next week'. Not waiting to be told twice in case he finds something else for me to do.

Catch up with you all later.
