*Louise* had a problem with pen marks that wouldn't come out and she found a product that worked wonders, think it was like a oxy powder or something. I'm sure when she's online next she'll remind us all :)

It was in a spray can, just called 'stain remover', displayednext to all the valish and oxy powders. I was really impressed with it. :)

Maria - I really love your Belle and Boo picture. I have never heard of them before but I will be googling them now.

Beg - Sleeping Beauty is looking gorgeous :)

JCS1 - Buttercup Farm is so pretty. I can't comment on the Anchor threads, I never use them. If I have a chart with them I just convert to DMC, no point in buying twice :D

Erics Mum - Good to see you back :D

Soulie - Thanks for letting us know how you're getting on, horrible treatment but a necessary evil I guess :( xx

Chicky - DOH is fantastic, I'm sure it will be gladly recieved :T

Help! Has anyone on here ever done a Dimensions kit? I'm totally baffled as to the thread organiser - if you've got spare thread left over from a length you've cut/stitched etc how exactly are you meant to attach it back to the organiser for safe keeping when it's all glued/stuck together?!
  • Hi Laura, I was reading about them the other day and they were saying that you cant get them back on and that most people make there own thread organisers and transfer the threads onto it hth x

    Evening,

Finally managed to take some pieces to the framers and picked them up today:

Hope everyone has a good weekend and manages some stitching time.

These are beautiful. My Mum comes from Buxton and she would love the map. The horses pic is amazing, so realistic that I expect them to run out of the frame at any minute !

Going back to the question asked 2 weeks ago !

I started cross stitch in 1989 and I remember the occasion well.

For some reason my sister bought me a kit from Argos for Christmas 1988, I had no idea what it was. At the end of January I had to go into hospital for an op and I just threw it into my bag to keep me occupied for what turned out to be a 10 day stay. I got such a shock when I opened it and saw that the fabric was blank - had expected the pattern to be printed on so I could just "fill it in" ! The threads weren't sorted and the chart was so big but I persevered and really enjoyed it.

Remarkably I finished it and it now takes pride of place on my living room wall. I've never looked back !

I must take and post a photo.

A few random thoughts before I go to bed. Sorry it's a long and rambling but I'm too tired to write elegantly !

. Thanks for the ideas on how to store my left over lengths of thread. Being a silly whats'it I have always thrown out the details of thread numbers when I've finished the kits so I've got a big heap of glorious colours but no idea what numbers they are. SO I've sorted them out into colour groups and put each group into a ziplock (thanks for the idea) and then into a Really Useful box.

I put my finished grubby work into the washing machine in a lingerie bag on 30 degrees. BUT I do a test piece first with a few stitches of each thread on a piece of scrap aida to see if any of the colours run. (I put it in with towels and teacloths etc so if it does run it doesn't hurt).

I've acquired over 100 old cross stitch magazines going back to 1999 ! The mum of a man (Ben) who works with my sister (are you following me ?) has had a clear out as she's moved onto card making, and Ben asked my sis if she'd like them - she is crafty as well. I've flicked through them all but need to decide what to do next - how do I earmark the charts I'd like to stitch ?

Does anyone subscribe to Pinterest ? I joined a few weeks ago and am hooked on looking at other people's cross stitch pins. There are so any freebie charts available especially small Christmas pics which I'm stitching up for cards.

Right, going to spend 15 mins on the Guardian cryptic crossword now - it is posted on their website at midnight and keeps me up until 1am.

Looks really cute and worth the effort finishing it. Think I stitched this a few years ago as a birth sampler. Was it a DMC kit?
