Shelly, i learnt from youtube aswell i found it quite easy, this is the video i followed, she has a blog site with written patterns or lots and lots of videos on youtube. It takes me about 30-45mins to stitch up 1 5 round square http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11Wh7IOT9BI I made a resolution i would stitch one square a day and build up a blanket, i think i only managed about 15 before i forgot to do them :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0

'lo all, didn't realise I hadn't been in since the 12th febVery busy last week, getting organised to go away for the weekend with hubby, got back late Sunday eve and this week hasn't been any quieter.
Haven't done ANY stitching in the past 10 days either  Shocking, I know. :rotfl:
I have had 2 magazines delivered though, so hopefully they might inspire me to get going again.
Going to go back and have a look at what I have missed xCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. sorry if this has been mentioned before, but 218 pages is a lot to read through.0 -
I love this. It's on my sew and so wish list, I have a bit of a red themed lady thing going on in my guest bedroom so it would be an ideal addition.
Done a couple of hours on my 'Map' today but DH will be home from work soon and then we are off to the Broadstairs Blues Bash for the weekend. Really cold here and been snowing lightly all morning so I just know I'm gonna freeze for the next two days.
Have a lovely stitchy weekend everyone
It's £30 on sew and sew, £15-75 here :http://www.ilovecrossstitch.co.uk/bird-cage-counted-cross-stitch-kit

Thanks ladies for the advice re crochet.
Have been looking it up online and on youtube and I have to say it looks complicated! I think I'll watch a few more videos before deciding whether or not to go for it
I guess though it's like anything new, seems hard at first but once you get the hang of it you wonder why you dithered in the first place
Louise. Nice to see you again, glad you're ok.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this forum.
But i was wondering how do you guys keep yourselves motivated when working on a big project?
I started one years ago and I cant even bare to look at it, which is sad as I'd love to finish it.0 -
Do any of you crochet? I fancy learning just enough to make a couple of blankets/throws.
Currently learning myself as I can no longer stitch
Oh and I have the DVD which came with Art of Crochet if anyone would like it (and a selection of hooks as I need to use the Clover ergonomic ones now *sigh*)Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

aww Dragon that is very sad to hear.
charlierabbit, try notto let the big projects turn into chores maybe do a little cover kit or something small like a card to get you back into stitching then get your big project out again and set yourself a couple of hours a week or goals like areas to complete. (a certain number of stitches a day maybe) hopefully you will soon get back into it.SPC~12 ot 124

I started it as a gift for my mum's 40th birthday, she's now going to be 50 next I'm probably just shy of half way done.
I didn't want to start anything else as i thought this would stop me going back as I'm more likely to do my crochet than the big cross stitch project so figured this would be the same with a small kit.
But I'll give it a go.
this is my big project:
