Cross Stitch Cafe - stitching out of 2012 and into 2013...
Comments

I think I have been cross stitching on and off for 10 years. My Gran taught me ordinary sewing at a young age but took to cross stitching when my mum bought herself a small kit at a craft fayre and couldn't do it so I unpicked what she had done and started again.
Full of the cold at the moment so no stitching since I finished my mums birthday gift.
Lovely to see everyones updates0 -
Hi ladies.
Sweetcarer. Hope you are feeling better. The Snowdrops are pretty.
JCS. Framed pieces are lovely, the Horse Race looks especially brilliant!
Chicky. Nice update on DOH.
Winnie. I started stitching in my late teens, just a few free cover kits. Then I started a design and it got put away for about 10 years. I wasn't as 'into' cross stitching as I am now so didn't miss it. Then a couple of years ago I decided to finish the design I started 10 years ago and haven't stopped stitching since!
The amount I have learnt about cross stitching in those couple of years is amazing and all thanks to the lovely ladies here.
FOS. Oh no, how frustrating!
Firefly. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for Pixies good wishes. She doing well, seems to be healing nicely though she's desperate to go out but coping well with her enforced lock down:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
JCS1 - framed pieces are beautiful :T
sweetcarer - snowdrops are lovely (one of my favourite flowers). Hubby has just pointed out this morning that the ones we have in pots in garden haven't poked through yet.
chicky - great update on DOH. I refuse to investigate grabby games:D. Know what you mean about cream on hands. My eczema has flared (yet again) on my hands and the cream I have is thick ointment and I have to wear cotton gloves as everything gets covered (makes stitching impossible).
greetingsearthlings - good luck with racehorses. Looking foward to seeing your progress.
winniepooh - been xstitching for more years that I care to admit tobut had very long breaks in between. But since I joined the Cafe I have had a couple of solid years at it now as the lovely ladies keep me going when I start to flag.
fos - it's so frustrating having to unpick. Hope you managed to sort it now.
Ruth_honey - good luck with decorating. We are getting new boiler at the end of the week and the kitchen is in dire need of decorating (imo not necessarily DH's) so called in and picked up some colour charts yesterday. It's quite a dark reddish colour atm so its going to take covering with new colour.
maria- good luck with your new course. Hope all goes well for you. Looking foward to seeing your new pieces.
firefly - hope you are feeling better soon.
Stitching challenge for me today - to complete 9th Day of Xmas (inc all b/s).
Only picked up laptop to check a few things and here must be nearly 2hrs later . Going to have to restrict time on laptop.
Hope you all have a lovely stitchy Sunday.

Good Morning Ladies, winniepooh wrote: »I love everyone's stitching. You are all very talented and patient. May I ask how many years everyone has been stitching. Ive only really started properly about three months.
Think I was about 17 when I done my first pattern, but serious when cross stitch collection came out (1993?) so long time.Ruth_honey wrote: »Sweetcarer, those snowdrops are really lovely. What colour is the evenweave? Is it a pale blue?
Yes it is some pale blue I had in a box and thought why not use it show off the white in the snowdrops betterSweetcarer. Hope you are feeling better. The Snowdrops are pretty.
I thought I was getting better but have woke up to a very croaky voice - going to get my boss - he should of went home the first day he felt sick instead of coming each day with it and smitting us all with it - yuk.
Thank you all for you kind comments - today is their anniversery and I am missing them more than ever - was really close to my gran - we share the same names and before she was married she would of had the same initials as I have now - noticed that when I inherited her engagement ring when I turned 40.
Trying to and have a shower now instead of tonight - my hair takes ages to wash - it is down to my bahookie now. One of the girls at work does the hairdressing course for our "clients" and she said I can pop down on Thursday when she has none and I can get a trim. We were talking one night at sign class and I was saying I haven't been able to afford the hair dresser for near 2 years.
Going get out my stash of threads later and work out the colours for my alphabet hearts for Sandy Hook - set up my hoop last night for doing purple work part 2, felt odd not doing some kind of stitching last night so done that and did a square inch.
Keep well and warm everyone - glad I am not going out today - going to stay in and keep warm and stitch. One advantage of an unemployed hubby - only have to worry about cooking - cleaning is done.
Kind wishes to all
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
I have a feeling I was still at junior school when I started, (7-8) with a sampler I'll have to look at the date on the sampler (and my younger sister had to do a sampler too) had an on off relationship with it until about 6 years ago and I needed to do something to switch off when away with work and I have yet to master knitting and I don't like watching films and I always run out of books (e readers dont help, books are my illicit packet of choclate biscuits I will read them ALL in one go).
I'm hoping to get more time this year to get things done and finish all my WIPs (so I can get some new ones)0 -
I finally went to see Les Mis today so that has put paid to doing any stitching. Very rude of the cinema to have the lights down so I couldn't sneak a few stitches in on my xmas stitchy project. :rotfl: Saw a trailer for the new die hard film while at the cinema - that looks good....
I did enjoy Les Mis but I have to say for me, it wasn't the big wow that I was expecting. *** I haven't seen the stage show so didn't know much about the plot. I think to fully appreciate it, I would need to see it again. There were some heart stopping moments and I still feel a bit sad.
*** to be fair I went for the budget option and saw the film in my local abc cinema so my ticket cost just £5.25 instead of the extortionate price v.u.e. wanted for their premium screen/premium sound/premium seat ticket. Our abc cinema is over 70 years old so a little old and tired and probably not the biggest screen but the price worked for me as well as not treking out of town to the v.u.e complex. It would have been nice to have the best experience of Les mis but I chose the :money: option instead !0 -
Evening all. Snowing here in Derbyshire. Picked up the 365 designs bookazine yesterday. Got the 'keep calm' designs in it. Does anyone know where I can get pieces of coloured aida similar to the 5x7 pieces sold by ATS or cross stitch heaven (can't remember which) but in other colours like lilac or teal or pink?
SOme lovely finishes - always inspiring to me
