  • Jcs the racehorse looks fab, how did you find it? I've bought it to do for my dads 60th (it's in 2015) so giving myself plenty of time to get it done.
  • I love everyone's stitching. You are all very talented and patient. May I ask how many years everyone has been stitching. Ive only really started properly about three months.
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!
    JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD
  • Love the snowdrops. They are one of my favourite flowers. I will have to plant some more as the display in the garden this year is very disappointing

    DOH is looking great

Have just spent ages unpicking lots of stitches on Stitcher's 12 days as I misread a symbol and picked the wrong colour thread and it has to be changed

How long have I been stitching? Years and years :D. I have pieces dating back to 1980 which is probably before some of you were born. I moved on to other things and came back to xs in 1991 when I picked up a copy of a new magazine called Needlecraft Since then I have done some xs every year although other crafts have imposed on my time as well.

I never answered the question about how long I send stitching. Little and often is how I do it because I rarely get longer than 2 hours to stitch. To me it one of the advantages of xs compared say to patchwork and quilting that I can just pick it up and do a few stitches when I have a few minutes to spare. I am often tired when I get home from work bu I resolved this year to stitch everyday that I could even if only for a short time and so far I've only missed 3 days

Louise - any update on your nephew.

    Ruth - how's your brother.

He's doing ok, thanks for asking. Chatted online with him last night (or was it night before? So tired that the days are blurring!) and he's just waiting on the 3rd thing to go wrong. He hurt his hand a few days before the fall.

I've been stitching 'properly' since 1996. I did a bit before that when I was at school, but got hooked when I was 16 & stitched a flowers of the year sampler for my Grandparents. Been stitching regularly since then.

How is everyone this weekend? Heard there's snow about, so hope you're all wrapped up warm & snuggly. Loving the photos of finishes and updates. Not long now, Chicky...:D and Sweetcarer, those snowdrops are really lovely. What colour is the evenweave? Is it a pale blue?

Hope Pixie is doing well. Those photos of her are adorable.

Louise-hoping to hear an update on your nephew soon. Been thinking of him.

Maria-everything ok? You've not been about much recently.

I'll be decorating all next week as my Mum is up to help me, so won't be able to catch up for a bit (or do any stitching!). Please all behave while I'm gone. And save me some cake! ;)

A very scary 20 years! Did a stamped kit at school when i was 13, then started buying magazines with cover kits- it was the time when cross stitcher and cross stitch collection were starting.
  • My Mum bought me my first kit when I was about 15. Took me ages to figure it out. I was only stitching in each hole once so had a cross, a space, a cross etc..Took me ages to figure out that you used the same hole more than once. I didn't bother again until I was 18 and flying to Australia and that was a wool cushion front. That was me hooked. I am now 35.

I am quite lucky with the amount of time I get to stitch. My hubby is great with our baby boy and so I get every evening from about 7 till maybe midnight, and on the weekends can have most of the day.
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)
  • Morning, hi Ruth I'm fine thank you been reading but not posting, been sorting out what I'm going to do with myself come September when all the imps are at full time school :( and of course stitching
I'm signing up to a level 2 childcare course at my local college, which will involve 2 days in a nursery and 3 days e-learning so I will still be about for dropping off and picking up the kids ect and that will give the littlest imp time to settle into school whilst o get qualified and then next year back to work properly

On stitching news, I'm working away on the first of 4 Bella and boo designs from cross stritcher, and waiting for the new issue so I can see the 4th have also finished the 6 blackwork snowflakes that were in the world of cross stitch a few issues back.

All your pictures have been lovely.

  • Hello All,

Hope everyone's well. Great to see everyone's framed pieces. The racehorses are especially impressive - my dad would love that but I don't think I would! ;)

As far as how long i've been cross stitching goes, when I was ten a friend of my mum's gave me two little christmas cross stitch kits. I mucked up the first one with the classic 'using all six strands at once'! The second one was better though and I've been doing it ever since then. My best friend got interested when she saw me doing it and we still cross stitch together now! That's been about 16 years
