Maria - Lets Sew looks amazing, and it came together so fast!:T

    Piccies from me.....

I have been working on Touched By Magic for the past week, but it's too bulky to stitch in bed so I like to have smaller designs on the go which I can do there while watching a DVD.

Who was it that mentioned the free Lizzie Kate designs last week? I downloaded and stitched some of them::

Got my Scrabble pic framed (can change that to blue in my signature now lol) My mum will be getting this, it's her favourite game :D

  • Still here...Have spent the last two nights sleeping on a mattress on the floor in our new house. Hubby got bed fixed up today so will sleep well tonight. Still so much to do...xx
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)
  • Hello everyone

"Life" has got in the way of my stitching recently and I haven't picked up any sort of needle for 2 days resulting in severe withdrawal symptoms.

Also have loads of posts to read :D

JCS Love the cross stitched top but in answer to other queries I am pretty certain it will have been done by machine - my sewing machine does cross stitch as well as lots of other decorative/embroiderery stitches

chicky I agree the green sea looks fine but if you're not happy with it perhaps you have to re-do it. As it is a gift so you won't be seeing it that often I would be tempted to leave as is.

stitcher great to hear that you are speeding up though stitching is supposed to be relaxing :D

brednall Don't think I replied to an earlier post of yours about Humphrey's Corner kits. I stitched an HC picture for my grandson's nursery and I am almost certain that it was a chart from a magazine. I've had a look through some old magazines and seen at least a couple of designs though one is a Christmas theme so may not be what you had in mind. I am unlikely to stitch these so pm me if you would like more details and I can pass them on - note for the copyright police I am offering to pass on the original pages from the magazine not copies :D

ejs The Christmas Sampler looks great - so bright and colourful and your first project completed for Christmas 2013 :D
Love the MS cat - was the chart in a magazine?

Louise So many designs, so little time........ Have noticed Scrabble in your signature but don't remember seeing a photo - what is the design?

depends so much on what you like but here goes
For light non fiction I like Stuart Maconie's books and I also love Andrew Marr's history books
In fiction I am a fan of crime thrillers especially by Val Mcdermid, Karen Slaughter or Tess Gerritsen. Have you read the Steig Larsson trilogy ? If you liked them I'd recommend Jo Nesbo
I loved Wolf Hall and so I would like to read Bringing up the bodies
One book I've recommended loads of times is The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins (probably the first ever detective novel)
I agree with the recommendations for Marian Keyes and Philippa Gregory and if you like family sagas then I would recommend Penny Vincenzi
And finally I can't go without putting in a word for my favourite author of all Jane Austen. If I could only have 1 book with me on holiday it would be one of hers and I can read them over and over again. Oh and I'm planning to read Les Miserables again soon (translated into English)
Enjoy your holiday. Would love to know what you choose to read

So... after a quick trip to the charity shop I picked these up from the 50p shelf...

    Shantaram, gregory David roberts
Thanks for the memories, Celia ahern
    Sea of poppies, amitav ghoshi
From here to paternity, Matt Dunn
The clouds beneath the sun, mackensie ford
A tiny bit marvellous, dawn french
    The slap, christos tsiokas
    Room, Emma donoghue
The man who forgot his wife, john o'farnell

Very excited... hope the snow holds off so the trains run OK on Saturday morning :-)

I throughly enjoyed reading Room. Struggled a bit with the first few chapters as I found it quite hard to get into, but well worth sticking with it....xx
