yep that's me crafty. Its coming along not too badly but I am doing it along side another project so that boredom doesn't set it.
Looking forward to seeing your squares and the kiss.
Take care everyone. It's still bloomin' snowin' here

Okay Maria, I'll be brave!
Hello everyone. This is my current wip
(Hope that works) it's called Safari Sunset and I wanted to get it finished for the start of January so I've failed spectacularly
I've also got White Lightening on the go (when does a wip become a ufo?). Long story short with that one: last year, my then puppy stole it and "played" with the fabric and threads. I got rather depressed and put it away so I'm not even certain I've got everything needed to finish it (I suspect that answers the wip vs ufo question!) I'm sure someone else on here has already completed it and it was gorgeous.
Anyway, will stop here before I write an essay. Love everyones work but particularly Beautiful Dreamer and the Margaret Sherry.
A x0 -
ASC, that is gorgeous, have seen that one before and remember thinking how Lovley it was. You haven't failed, you've increased your deadline lol
You should dig out beautiful dreamer and see if it is salvagable sp.?13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -
morning all
ASC that does look stunning, and every stitch you do is a stitch nearer finishing.
i agree you should get White Lightening out again to see if it can be finished
little bit more snow here but all schools are open, much to the disappointment of my two boys and me.
didnt do any stitching last night i wanted to pull a bit of knitting in
i didnt actually sign up for the sandy hook project but i did say i would do a couple of squares and post them on to (i think it was chicky) do i need to have a particular design or name allocated to me? i was thinking of doing a couple of butterflies, i have a few of those kits and can change the size of the piece of adia i stitch them on. i has a pale blue one that ive stitched before and can do them real colours or pastel them down so they dont stand out too much against other softer colours used.
i need to search back for the square sizes needed not i dont have face book so could someone who does tell me if ill be doing this right please.
i was just going to do a butterfly with my name and town in small in one corner but if a sandy hook name needs adding i wouldnt know which one to use.
thank youSPC~12 ot 124

Thank you for fixing my link!
ASC - that is utterly amazing! Is that a kit? Where did you get it?
My list of kits I want to make is LONG, and given that each one takes me about a year, I have many years of stitching to come!0 -

From what I understand what you suggest is perfect. I think you can look at the fb page without being a member, most designs are acceptable and also lots of free charts donated for the use of the quilts. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Xstitchforsandyhook/
The fabric has to be 14ct in cream, white or pastel aida.
Sizes: 7x7 and 9x9 stitching space- overall size should be 10x10 or 12x12 stitching needs to fit within these dimensions-
Signature- please put your name or initials, whichever you are most comfortable with and where you are from. This can be anywhere on the piece. Just please make sure to leave enough room on the border for the piece to be made into a quilting block
When stitching general squares refrain from putting a specific child's name on it.
Hope that helps. Also there is now an address for sending squares but quite a few of us are stitching some so sure you can send with those. I'm only stitching one so might also be an idea to send onto someone or collectively send them all to save on separate p+p charges, perhaps each person sending could provide a £1-2 each. Patches are not due till aug so we have time to sort it and see if a viable idea.0 -
JCS1 Your Peak District map is great but shouldn't it be covered in snow? :rotfl:
Julie Looking forward to seeing your Hollywood pic. Reverse stitching is sooooo frustrating and such a waste of time but we all do it
Maria I managed another hour on Let's Sew but won't have any stitching time tonight or tomorrow as out tonight and working very late Wed. Am enjoying it and will take a photo soon
AMLove the Bra zier - those dictionary designs are so clever. I finished one last year (a UFO) and I have to confess that it is still in a drawer as I'm not sure what to do with it
Shelly Love the cute cats - they look very realistic and very comfy
Thanks for the reminder about the erasable pens - I will look out for offers on them in supermarkets etc
mrsmp Love the personalised Trotter family and also the butterfly which will be even more special when you have added the name and the verse
skoobie sorry to hear about the problems with the wedding - I'm sure everyone has them at some time in the lead up to the big day and one day you will look back and laugh at them
catwoman well done on finishing pooh bear (have you got a photo?)
beg Loving your 12 days of Christmas but quite understand that you want to make progress on the lovely SB - there just aren't enough hours in the day for us stitchers. Were the Margaret Sherry designs in a magazine (and if so which one if you know? Was it a calendar?) There are so many of her designs published that I can't keep track. No that I need any more additions to my to do list at the moment
FE Sounds like Joan E was not best pleased with CSC leaving her out of the list (and she has done quite a few designs for them over the years)
nmm BD looking very lifelike - always want to stroke the fur Your thread organiser is very professional I tend to use cardboard ( the back of A4 lined paper pads used at work cut in half vertically) so they don't look very attractive. The laminator idea is one I may borrow particularly for long term projects
ASC Sunset Safari is stunning. Are the black areas stitched or is it the fabric left blank? Stitching on black fabric in the winter is tough (or at least it is for old eyes like mine). I can't recall if anyone has stitched White Lightning but I think I know the piece - is it a white tiger? Did your puppy do any actual damage or just tangle the threads?
gildius thanks for sharing your update - you have made great progress0 -
i know there have been posts on here about basic sewing machines ( think one sold by Lidl was mentioned). I've just read the email from Aldi which details their special offers from tomorrow (Thursday) and there is a Singer sewing machine for £89.99.
This isn't a recommendation but might be worth a look for anyone considering buying their first machine0 -
skoobie sorry to hear that your wedding plans have been causing you added stress, I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end.
catwoman well done on finishing pooh bear, did you take any photos?
ASC Sunset Safari is beautiful. I do like designs stitched on black but find them very tiring on my eyes. Have a design that I'd like to do on 32 count but loked at the material yesterday and decided I wouldn't cope with it. Lady in local shop has suggested light blue or green, may even think about red for a change or a piece of hand dyed from sparklies.
Maria [\B] you found some lovely quotes out for the butterfly for Mrs MP, very kind of you.
Mrs MP [\B] I signed up to stitch a square for the sandy hookmproject on Sunday but I'm onky syitching one and I think its going to be a general one. Was thinking about doing one of the fairies similar to the one s I stutched at Christmas or the heart with the hands and feet in it.
Subtleminx [\B] you beat to answering the question re he sandy hook squares. I like the idea of sending them to someone with money to cover postage and one person sending them on from the group.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j
