Augustsmummy - your dictionary of bras is coming on well. I really like the dictionary series of designs.
Maria - Lets sew is looking great and I agree with Augustsmummy it is stitching up sp quickly. Might invest in the chat in the next mknth or so seejng as its not too dear. Think I saw it somewhere for under £4 the other day but can't remember where.
FlatEric - haven't seen an Elmo stutched for ages, its lovely. I do similar if I am getting tired I outline an area and then fill it in whilst watching telly. I also always mark off my chart, no matter how simple the design.
b-e-g - 12 days is coming along nicely. You are certain to have it finished well before the 11.12.13 date.
I've stitched quite a bit of my eye and love it. Will try to put a photo on tomorrow. Decision is do I do the iris of the eye in green as per the pattern, blue because we all have blue eyes or purple because its my favorite colour? Hubby thinks I was drawn to the pattern with the iris green therefore I should stitck with green. All thoughts and comments gratefully received.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

I have that on my to do list and chose blue because we all have blue eyes - but if you were drawn to the green then perhaps that is the one for you?

TThe threads and fabric only cost me £20ish i think. For my threads i made a thread organiser like you get in the proper kits, i printed a template i designed then laminated it and made holes with a hole punch, yay me :T
That's how I sort my threads as well, I couldn't' be without an organisermaria_and_the_imps wrote:started let's sew tonight it's a really nice stitch and comes together quickly. here's where I'm up to after 3 1/2 hours

I've started as well but in a completely different place[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

but I have done all of snoopy in half stitches and the lettering in half stitches ready for the crosses/stitches to be completed with my eyes closed :rotfl:
That's what I do - all the complicated counting half stitches (////) when I am awake, all the other ones (\\\\) when I am sleepy!!!
Works for me
(Oh and yeah, mark 'em off on a copy of the chart no matter how simple :rotfl:)0 -
works coming along nicely. Love dictionary of bras and thats lets sew is brilliant - might add that to my 2014 list i can't justify another yet!
no up date of DOH, hopefully i'll be all up to date on housework. get both kids in bed by 6 and have a solid 5-6 hours stitching time.
right must go and ring school and tell them that although THEY may be open we can't get down our road to get there!!loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Thank you all for your advice! Thats going to really help me when I'm tired and not so confident to be stitching!
Thats good advice Flat Eric to mark the chart off as I go. I don't do this at the moment and spend a lot of time trying to guess where I am...and when the colours are the same..even more time! I don't know why I didn't think of doing that before :wall:. And the idea of doing all the \\\\ then when I'm sleepy all I have to do is the //// is a great tip!
nmmm - thats a very professional looking thread organiser. At the moment I store mine in a pencil case for that project and sometimes it does take a while looking for the number I'm after. I think I'm going to try making one!
augustmummy- I'm sorry to hear you had to restitch a row, but thank you for sharing that with us! Hopefully I will learn from your mistake
So a big thank you to you all! You have given me great advice which means I can stitch when sleepy (and probally more accurate too!). I can't wait to start doing what you said :j but have to work first!0 -
Morning ladies.
Ailsb. Love the finished Bug, very nice.
JCS. Map is looking great, coming along nicely.
Sweetcarer. Really like the calendars.
Caroline. Brilliant news about getting a new home! Congrats!
Craftycrafty. Nice work. The hearts are lovely.
Nmm. Nice progress on BD.
BEG. Nice update, very cute.
Maria. Really like the gift for your Mum, very nice. Nice progress on 'lets sew'.
AM. Nice bra progress.
Stitcher. As per the other ladies I too use a thread organiser if the kit comes with one. If not I use small zip locks bought from ebay with a small sticker (a large sticker cut up into smaller ones) on the front of each one that shows both the number and symbol. Once a kit is finished the sticker can be peeled off and the bag used again.
Also definately mark the chart as you go, if you can photocopy the original and mark the copy that's even better.
I used to use a pencil for marking because if I marked off the wrong stitches I could rub it out easily but then I was recommended Pilot Frixion Pens by Magscat IIRC? They are ball pens that you can rub out and re-write over where you have just rubbed out. I now have several (buy them when on offer as they are quite expensive) and wouldn't use anything else.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with.
