Border and other buildings complete on peak district map, just got all the backstitching, rivers, trees and other bits to put on map now! Started it new years eve so not taken that long so far, especially with all the colour changes.
Keep warm and be careful if you do go out in the snow.

Hello all, even though the weathers not too bad where I am I decided to push on with my stitching today. Didn't get any done last night as we went to see Les Mis- cried like a baby. It was amazing!
Getting on quite well with my Hollywood design, can't wait to show you all a pic! I made a little mistake with the back stitch but I went back and fixed it, so its ok. It's so annoying when you know there's a mistake, even if you can't really see it.0 -
Thank you for posting that info chickywiggle - I know its a bit of a stupid question - when you have stitched something do you have to keep the chart to prove its yours? I wasn't sure about that.
nmm - thats a really beautiful design you are working on there! Where are you planning on putting it once its finished? How do you keep yourself organised with all the different threads you must be using?
blue_eyed_girl - I really like that Margret Shelly design you posted, your stitching is sooo neat too! I think the end result will be a heirloom.
I managed to get an hours stitching done this weekend, so quite happy with myself. Would have liked to do more (wouldn't we all!) but I was so tired yesterday that I promise myself not to stitch when sleepy as worried about making mistakes. Does anyone have a fool proof way of stitching when tired?0 -

I don't know if you have to keep the original chart Stitcher but I do because I'm very fond of my cross stitch stash and looking at the charts for the things I've stitched brings back happy memories plus reminds me of the toil and trouble I might have gone through to stitch the design. The backstitch on a certain elmo kit springs to mind...

I don't tend to stitch when I'm tired although I do wish I had more time for my favourite hobby. Most of today has been spent doing odd bits here and there and the day has disappeared. it is only this evening that I have sat down to do some stitching and I'mthat I haven't been able to manage more.

ALWAYS mark off the chart no matter how small or simple the design appears. Especially if you are stitching while watching the tv at the same time !
Perhaps have a designated I'm tired but MUST get my stitching fix. I have a snoopy bookmark design I started - it has very few colours and is another unfinished project ! but I have done all of snoopy in half stitches and the lettering in half stitches ready for the crosses/stitches to be completed with my eyes closed :rotfl:0 -

I'm keeping this one i've been dying to do it for years and finally found the chart on its own, the kit at the time cost over £50  The threads and fabric only cost me £20ish i think. For my threads i made a thread organiser like you get in the proper kits, i printed a template i designed then laminated it and made holes with a hole punch, yay me :T heres a photo :rotfl:

Stitcher - My rule is - don't try to neaten the back of your work when tired. I had to restitch a whole row as I snipped the wrong thread!Cross Stitch Cafe Member No: 86 :j0
