It's a free kit from a magazine, probably a few years old now. I've sorted some replacement threads out thanks to a very kind member on here
Luckily there's only two colours I need and only for about 20-30 stitches in each colour.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0 -
I'm back! My bike passed the MOT, which is great news. :j Now I can get a new tax disc and tick some more 'things to do' off my list.
Welcome to all the new members that have joined the cafe recently. Lovely to have some new people to share ideas with and of course, new pics to admire & motivate us.
blue_eyed_girl-I've been thinking of you a lot these past few weeks. How is everything going? I think having the Pooh bear pic hanging in the nursery is such a lovely way to remember her.
rubyrara-I've got a couple of Winnie The Pooh kits in my stash that use waste canvas, but I've not tried it before. If you managed to track some down (Sew & So?) then let us all know how you get on with it.
Shelly-Love the blue frames for the CC slide & 'Sprinkle'. they look very fresh. As for your hubby's suggestion of a kitten or two, I say go for it! There are so many lovely kittens that need good homes. Just went over to see Blossom in her bed (she's now 6 months old!) and she rolled over for belly tickles. Soooo sweet!
caroline78-Hope your hubby is still enjoying his job. How's the baby quilt coming along?
Also thanks for organising the christmas card exchange. I'm still debating if I am joining in (I know the deadline is tonight!). I was affected by the last project and quite gutted that so much work went 'missing'. It's hard to get enthusiasm up for these things once you've been burnt before.
I like idea of finishing something Christmassy on 20/12/2012 or 12/12/12 so I'll have a rummage in the UFO box and see what I can dig out. I remember a Newtons Law kit and a Lickle Ted one that have been living there for far too long. Will return with pics if I find something.
flowerofscotland-Your national flowers RR is lovely!
tellmeitsfriday-Your fairy is gorgeous. What fabric have you used? I'm a huge fan of coloured fabric. It's an easy way of making a design look extra special.
***Off Topic bit***
chickywiggle-The only surveys I do are the GFK TV ones every day. Occasionally win £2 or £5 vouchers for this, which I tend to spend on Amazon. Survey only takes 5 minutes, so I don't feel as though I'm wasting stitching time.
Sorry to hear about your stresses with your DH too. Try sticking your head under a pillow and screaming as loud as you can. It might help...:)
Flat Eric-I don't meal plan, as I'm far too picky about what I fancy eating on the night. We have a chest freezer in the garage, so we have the space to freeze a lot of different meats, breads etc. Tend to do one huge shop every couple of months, then top up with bits when needed. Might have to start planning meals more, though. I've just been told I have gallstones! I have an appointment at the hospital next wednesday but it's likely I'll need keyhole sugery. In the meantime I need to watch what I eat. More fruit, veg etc and less fatty foods. Am hungry and craving cheese already!!! :rotfl:
nmm-How's Tikaani doing now? That must've been so scary for you. Glad the vet bill wasn't too big-less stitching money!
Ailsb-Congratulations on reaching your target weight!!! :T You should feel very proud of yourself.
Gonna go and dig out a jumper or something now. I'm getting cold tonight & refuse to put the heating on in September. Will continue with the catch up later. Hope I'm not boring you all with the loooong posts! :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I love it tooI can't exactly remember the name, I got it from Polstitches. I can't imagine what she'd be like on white.
It was Lugana Opalescent linen, maybe wisteria, but not 100% sure...
I think I need to do another one now - what shall I do?0 -

I just caved and put the heating on as I'm already wearing a jumper
Hoping to post a progress picture later- I'm determined to finish that darn zebra tonight!0 -
Heating? Got a coal fire here to heat the house with a back boiler for the hot water, get ice on the inside of bedroom and bathroom windows in winter
Evening of either ironing or sewing, really need to do ironing but think sewing might be calling me loudest0 -
Hi ladies.
Ailsb. Loving your framed pieces, they are lovely.
JCS. Nice progress on Finishing Post.Ruth_honey wrote: »As for your hubby's suggestion of a kitten or two, I say go for it! There are so many lovely kittens that need good homes. Just went over to see Blossom in her bed (she's now 6 months old!) and she rolled over for belly tickles. Soooo sweet!
It's not happening! Has he paid you to work on me?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against cats, I just don't want another one.
We currently have Lily, she's nearly 8 and she's been with us nearly 5 years. She too loves belly tickles but once you get started she complains loudly if you stop before she's had enough :rotfl:
Before Lily we had Coco, she was with us for about 16 years before she died in 2008.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Elle1267-WOW! That Japanese Ambiance is just amazing. I can't believe you've taken such a short time to stitch it. It's so detailed.
I've also stitched the blackwork owl. Actually, thinking about it, it could possibly be a UFO (almost finished, though!). I can't remember seeing it for ages, so it may be with the Toy Story alien that I know was started but has gone walkies.
chickywiggle-I've gotten very annoyed with cross stitch mags in previous years. I wait ages for a subscription gift that I actually want and would use, only for them to not send it. You contact them and they claim it's been sent-or they'll send it out straight away-and then when it doesn't arrive and you contact them again, they're out of stock and can only offer you alternatives which aren't of any use/not to your taste.
laura2481-Well done with getting the marks out. I think you've done a good job on it. I have an old kit which is quite grubby, so will make a note of all the tips you were given and give it a clean soon.
Love the reindeer cushion too! I'm a sucker for christmas cross stitch designs. And Halloween ones too, come to think of it. There's something about the colours that just appeals to me. [STRIKE]If[/STRIKE]WHEN I win the lottery (and I'm talking a couple of million!), then I'm buying a huge house with enough rooms to have a Christmas room! :rotfl: I can have all my cross stitches hung up all year then.
brednall-Emma, your craft fair stall looks great. Wish you all the best for Sunday. Hope you get lots of customers. Chickywiggle's idea of testimonials is good. I think the boards are fine uncovered. It makes the keyrings more visible.
sweetcarer-That Gaga pic made me laugh. She really is bonkers, isn't she?
MallowBrain-I'm fairly sure the Christmas ABC that chickywiggle posted a pic of is one I have in my stash. It's got a lot of beading on it, so be warned. I went to start it last year after dreaming about it (I know!!! :rotfl:) and looked at the contents and put it away again.
I like the kit above that one (3rd one down in post #325) but I have soooo many Christmas designs to stitch.
Ailsb-A Good Marriage looks great! I like the customising that you've done.
As most of you know, I stitched that design (but no personalising-no spare time to play!) and my mum also stitched it. Hers was for a wedding that she went to in America last weekend. Well, when I spoke to her, she told me about a reading that they had at the wedding & it was that exact piece!!!At first I thought she had already given them the stitching & they liked it so much that they used the wording for the reading, but no-they hadn't even opened the gift and had no idea! What a HUGE coincidence. I assumed it was just a Lizzie Kate designed chart. She was really thrilled and obviously it made the stitching even more special.
JCS1-I can't do french knots either. Beads are my friends...;)
Great update of Finishing Post. You've got loads done.
Willow92-I've never had that happen to me before. The Bothy Threads kits sometimes have threads which have snapped while stitching. I changed to a new needle, which helped, but I still think the thread quality isn't too good for the cost of the kits.
I think we were toying with November 2013 for the meet up? Out of season a bit, so hopefully cheaper. I've never been to the Lake District (only a day trip from Blackpool to take a boat trip), so I'd love to visit properly.
maria and the imps-Thanks.:) I am very tempted to do the card exchange. I love seeing what designs people chose to stitch for exchanges. I've had (and sent) some great designs in the past. One of my faves used glow in the dark threads for a halloween card.
tellmeitsfriday-I'm such a sucker for Polstitches fabrics. I have loads of pieces in my stash. I might use some for a little halloween piece. Got some little LK charts I've pulled out in the hope I might stitch one this weekend.

JCS1-I was on blood pressure meds for a very short time last year. I wanted to start working out at the gym but my blood pressure was too high, so they told me to see my Dr first. They put me on it for a month or 2, then it was low enough for the gym to be happy for me to use their equipment. Since then I've lost over 3 stone, but my blood pressure is borderline. I've been asked to get it checked again in a fortnight. Seems it's high, but not high enough to warrant meds. Perhaps if getting an appointment at the Drs wasn't so stressful, it would be lower!
Is there anything else you can try to lower your blood pressure? It could be hereditary, as your mother, sister etc are on it, but if exercise or something like yoga could help, it could be worth a try?
shelly-No, he hasn't. :rotfl: I'd been working on my DH for years about getting a kitten/cat and he always said no. Then [STRIKE]we found Blossom[/STRIKE]Blossom found us and he couldn't say no. She needed someone to look after her and we couldn't leave her at the vets. She was so tiny and cute. It's been very hard work, though. Our place is not kitten friendly and we keep having to move things because she's always exploring. Who knew I had so many dangly bits on my clothes to leap up at?
I'll come and tickle Lily's belly if you like! Blossom only lets me do it sometimes & it's on her terms. I guess it's a very trusting thing for them to let you do. They're very vulnerable in that position.
Right, I think that's me caught up. Sorry for such long posts, girls! I should've warned you to get a cuppa & a biscuit first...Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I LOVE christmas so I thought maybe a detailed or bigger christmas design might be good for me, so hopefully Ill find a nice design and you lot will keep me motivated
Why don't you join our Christmas Card exchange...Ruth_honey wrote: »caroline78-Hope your hubby is still enjoying his job. How's the baby quilt coming along?

Hubby's job is going great but I am finding it hard to get into a routine so my stitching is suffering...lol
You should join up to the Exchange as if it all goes wrong the only thing that can happen is that you don't receive a card...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0
