Hi all!
I've been meaning to have a proper, big catch up on here for weeks. Been reading all the posts, but never seem to have the time/energy to reply to everything I want to.
Firstly-going back a LONG time, and to something in the previous thread-I am very interested in a real life meet up next year. I'd love to see everyone in person. I bet no-one is how we picture them in our head.
My mum is coming to the end of her holiday in America. She'll be home on Sunday morning. :j I spoke to her a couple of days ago and she did manage to find the Santa Sidecar Stocking that I wanted her to get for me. A bit more expensive than I'd hoped, but still cheaper than buying it here. Plus, she got to search out some stitching shops out there, which she enjoyed. She ended up getting it from ABC Stitch Therapy, which she has visited before, but they'd moved address (only down the road!), which threw her a bit.
Sweetcarer/chickywiggle I know my mum just missed Labor day sales, but she did find a good buy at Joanns. They had 50% off DMC threads with a coupon, so it worked out as about 5 threads for $1!
It's the peanut butter M&Ms that I love. The peanut ones are ok, but I'm not that fussed on dark chocolate. We bought some at the airport in Iceland in January, but they've long gone now.I'm not sure if the M&M shop in Leicester Square sell them or not. The one time I went in there, I was already very stressed out and it was so packed and full of tourists wandering around very slowly that I walked straight back out again. I'll maybe try again when I'm not so irritated.
firefly369 The JOY picture is just lovely! Lots of time & hard work gone into that and it shows. :T
JCS1 Finishing post is coming along nicely. I bet all the green gets boring, but it's worth it to get the background looking so realistic. Look forward to another update soon.
nmm I like the In Full Bloom charts that you posted a picture of-very funky! (post #60-I know it was ages ago!)
Only on page 4, but just spotted the time. Need to get dressed & take my motorbike for it's MOT. Realised last weekend that it expires tomorrow! Was convinced it was ok until October...
Will carry on with my catch up later.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
What kind of beads do you need? I have some sort of clear/irridescent seed beads hanging around if you would like them?
Thank you for the generous offer about the beads. I now have found some suitable beads but by the time that I did this Imagine had been overtaken by other projects...... I am one of those stitchers who likes to have multiple projects "in progress"
Love your Santa cushion0 -
Hi ladies.
Laura. The Noahs Ark looks good, I can't see the marks you say are left.
Also like the Reindeers, very cute!
Emma. Agree with the others, your stall set-up looks great.
Skoobie. Love Imagine! Very pretty.
Sweetcarer. Good spot! I like the kit but don't think it works as a real life face decoration
MallowBrain. Hi and Welcome
Maria. Thanks so much for the link to the blog. It's now in my favs ready for when I win the lottery and can afford to buy all the fabric and threads I need to stitch the lovely designs available on there
I feel your pain, when you type a big post and lose it upon submitting it! What I now tend to do is highlight it all, right click to copy then submit. If it submits, fine, if it doesn't you can then paste the copy and try again.
Chicky. Thanks for the post of xmas designs. I love the ABC one, reminds me I have a kitchen ABC in my stash.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
:j
I was just browsing your post again chicky and it struck me that a 'Twelve days' design would be a perfect one to complete on 12.12.12.:T
Now I have stitched the second one and it took aaaages :rotfl:but the first one is more simple and I reckon I would have time to fit that in with my other Christmas stitching.
What a brilliant idea. And it has reminded me that I have a partially completed stitchery of Twelve Days of Christmas which I should try to complete for 12 12 12. I want to make it into a wall hanging so I would just about have time to do that. So I might juggle a bit and say that Christmas Cheer will be completed on 20 12 2012. I know you could finish both in this time but I also have 2 stockings which have more XS to complete and then they and another need to be made into stockings by the end of November and I'm not as fast a stitcher as you (who is?) And of course there is the Christmas card for the exchange.

and yep thats the one I think ill do!!
Louise You must stitch quickly to be able to do that design as well as others!! Are you all doing something special on the 12/12/12?
Someone (can't recall who - sorry) mentioned that there are 2 "special dates" this year which are 12 12 12 and 20 12 2012 so some of us are planning to finish a stitching (probably a Xmas themed one) on one or both of those dates so that we can stitch the date on piece.
So far I think it's only me. chicky and Louise who have definitely said we want to do this but anyone can join in (or drop out) at any time.0 -
Laura - I like the Santa cushion. Seeing how quickly you stitched the Reindeer one I'm sure that this is possible before Christmas
Louise - I'm sure between us we have enough small designs from magazines etc to "knock-up" a 12 Days of Christmas design. I know it eats into the stitching time but would save money.
FOS - hope it's ok for me to PM you too.
Just back from my local stitching shop, had to replace a floss that my Dads dog decided to eat!! I'm using it for the legs and head of the turtle. Whilst there I had to have a browse and ended up buying the following:
A DMC bag Charm kit - black
A nutmeg 3d Half timbered house - one of these was on my Chistmas list (well I'd mentioned to hubby that I would like one), It was reduced to £5.
A little book of charts - when I've got home and checked this has 6 DMC threads in including 310 and 666. This was reduced to £1 so an absolute bargain.
Will try to post pictures of my framed stitching now but keep losing post so may not manage it.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Here's my finished pieces.
African Woman - started by my Mum, she had completed the woman and part of the background.

Tiger - again started by my Mum. She had completed the top right of the picture including the eye. My son stitched the left eye, as you look at the picture and I did the rest. 3 generations work in one picture.

And finally, A Good Marraige which I have stitched as a surprise for hubby for our 25th Anni next month.

Found a local framers that I am happy with. Cost £12 for the African woman, £10 for the Tiger and £25 for a Good Marriage. Really pleased and will use again. Will get non-reflective glass on my Mother & Child though.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Been having problems posting, had a really long post ready 3 times and kept losing it so ended up posting part of the post and then editing. Sorry for the suspense.
Here's a picture of the bag charm kit. It includes 4 skeins of floss so not bad really, cost just over £4.00Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j
