Hi mallowbrain! :hello: I'm new here too but I just brought virtual tea and cake and they let me settle right in.... well, at the least they have tolerated my waffling about cleaning my current project :D

Anyways, had a god stitchy day today doing some more of the blue on my reindeer cushions whilst watching some Downton Abbey I'd recorded on the V+ and this evening I did some more grey on my Zebra- not worth a photo update at this point though. That is all for tonight though- watching a film, drinking a cup of tea and mooching on here at the same time. That's multi-tasking for you :D

    Hi Laura,

I didn't see the original picture and can't see where the marks were.

I love the two reindeers and the one you did for your boyfriend/husband:D

The blackwork owl is very special. I've never attempted blackwork but am always amazed by how good they look.

Thanks firefly. The blackwork owl was actually quite simple and made a nice change from 'normal' cross stitch and is well worth a try :)
  • Hi everyone Im new here!
Been trying to find a friendly cross stitch forum, some seem to be quite clicky and not accept new comers very well but from looking around here you all seem lovely so fingers crossed :)

Im a nightmare and get bored too easily, I seem to need to see results quickly to motivate me but I really want to try something bigger or more detailed. Cards seem to be my limit at the moment and that makes me sad :(

I LOVE christmas so I thought maybe a detailed or bigger christmas design might be good for me, so hopefully Ill find a nice design and you lot will keep me motivated :D

    Hi :j

what about something like the christmas motif one on here.
Lots of small designs to make 1 big one. I'm the same always seem to make more progress if I can see it coming together quicker.

apologies for all the pics to follow.

    or this one

then you can get loads of "12 days of christmas samplers" so 12 individual pics making a big one..... e.g.

Wellll my stitching is still.............untouched. Got sidetracked booking holiday tickets. Split ticketed it and got tickets there and back for less then £60. (straight thro was coming up at £64+ each way). and couldn't get returns as going to one station but coming back from another one.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Sk00bie - 'Imagine is beautiful', that's still on my to do list for the future :T

brednall - Unless it has to fit a frame or something, then you should change it to whatever size fabric you feel most comfortable stitching on :)

sweetcarer - that likeness is uncany!:rotfl:

Mallowbrain - Welcome to the cafe :D As long as you post something (anything!) we will chat to you and make you welcome :T Instead of jumping from cards straight to a big picture, why not find a smaller design forst (maybe 5x7 sort of size) Chicky's ideas of small motifs making up a larger pic is a good one.

No stitching for me again....feeling a bit 'meh'. Something is niggling at me and I can't figure what it is :(

    Evening everyone,

Sorry been AWOL for a while, had a week off work so busy pottering around the farm.

I had great plans for my week off, but have managed to ignore the ironing yet again :rotfl: and have instead watched all 8 Harry Potter films :D And managed to get quite a bit of stitching done, think Finishing Post is now about 3/4s done and the end is in sight :T

Will see how much more I can get done over the weekend and then post a pic.

OT - anyone take medication for high blood pressure? My mother, sister and both grandmothers are on meds for it, and so it has finally caught up with me and the dr has prescribed tablets.

Just feels weird, as probably starting taking something that will need for rest of life. Wasn't helped by the fact that when picked up the prescription the pharmacist took me for a chat in the private room and asked permission to phone me in a week to see how side effects were going - think that shocked me a bit.
  • laura -well done with your stain removal. Love your reindeer cushion and bear/heart pic. I've done the blackwork owl quite a while ago now and from what I remember I quite enjoyed doing it.

Emma - your stall looks really lovely. Hope everything goes well for you.

    sk00bie - imagine is beautiful.

sweetcarer - definitely see the likeness (Gaga). Wonder who came up with the idea first - Gaga or Joan???? :D

MallowBrain - welcome to the Cafe and don't worry - we're a very friendly bunch here. :D Don't forget to let us know what you decide on for your next project.

Louise - hope you're stitching mojo returns soon.

Got an early start in the morning so I should be closing lappy pretty soon and getting off to bed but you know what it's like - just check this, then this and then go on to check that and before you know it, its way past midnight

Hi all, haven't been on here for a while as I've had computer problems!! Apologies for the long post.

Firstly, Chicky - I did check my colours and I didn't have the one you needed. I can see you treated yourself at HC so hopefully the colour you got is correct.

Welcome to the newcomers - Laura and Mallowbrain. Laura, well done on reducing the stain, have to say I can't see the second picture but I'm sure after all the effort you have put in to remove it it won't be noticable. Mallowbrain I would be interested on what you decide to stitch next as well.

Ellie - your finished piece is lovely, really stands out. How long did it take to finish?

Flat Eric - your lunch time club sounds great, wish I had colleagues with similar interests. If I stitch at lunchtime it means sitting up the corner of a room with my back to the world looking like "Billy no mates".

Emma - the layout of your stall is really good. I think if I had time and something to cover it with I would possibly cover the boards but they are fine as they are. In case I don't get chance to say it before hand good luck on the day and I hope you sell out.

Sk00bie - I love imagine, didn't you stitch it fast.

JCS1 - thankfully I haven't had to have tablets for my blood pressure, I was threatened with them if I didn't lose weight. However my hubby has been on them for about 10 years, started when mid 30's due to heart problem. He hasn't had any side effects even though the consultant spoke to both of us due to the nature of the side effects for men :D

Have picked framing up from local framers this week. will post a picture of them later, hubby just come downstairs and wants to do shopping list. We are on Cub camp fromthis afternoon and I'm doing the food shopping this morning - joy.

Will try to post again later, computer permitting.

Yay its Friday! already planning on lots of stitchy stuff this weekend. :j

yes I love my lunch club. we did do it earlier in the year but it fell by the wayside because we both ended up being busy but I think its important to make time for it so hopefully we will keep it up this time :j

I have started a food blog if anyone wants to follow it.

    Details here

It will run along side my cross sttich blog - I haven't posted there for ages and now I'm considering starting a book blog!
