Part of the Furniture Photogenic Combo Breaker Xmas Saver!
got cross-stitch card shop today, just need threads & aida now.
whilst clearing out bedroom i found 4 xmas cards i had stitched for kids a few years back & saved. 4 different tatty teddys. any ideas what i could re-cycle them into? they already have stitched stockings, but although small, the cards are just beautiful & would love to re-use them!

    what size are they??

Just wondering as some of us are doing squares for the sandy hook quilt project and if they are the right size would be lovely.

thought I'd repost this rule as I noticed names appearing on items
These are the guidelines for the cross stitch squares. However, please know anything stitched will be graciously accepted and incorporated into the items being made for the families, and the school. If the design you have chosen does not quite fit these guidelines that is fine, we just ask that you refrain from putting a specific childs name on it.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Chicky I read this rule a bit differently to you. I thought it meant that if you weren't stitching the standard sized square then not to put a name on it, as it wouldn't be able to be used for the quilts but would be used elsewhere. However if you were stitching on the pale aida, 14 count and the correct size then you could put names on it...There are quite a lot on the Facebook page with names on..

    Oh, I hope I haven't picked it up wrong...xx
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)

 OH is out tomorrow and will be eating at lunch time so that has somewhat scuppered my plans to cook a casserole as he might not want tea in the evening and I don't really want to cook it for one....

So not sure whether to head to the shops or whether to still have home shopping but just what I need.... and then spend the day stiching (or half heartedly tidying up....) decisions decisions....
Surely the only response you will get from this group is to stay home and stitch ::D

pinknfluffy28, welcome, cross stitch card shop is probably a good mag for you, there is usually an offer on like 3 for £5 or 5 for £5 there were some links posted about 5-10 pages back :)

Sorry can't remember who was doing the "dogs in the snow" photo conversion, but i eagerly await updates on it, would love to turn some photos into cross stitch, particularly ones of doggies no longer with us :(
Thanks for these links Great site for someone like me who loves U S designs, threads etc. not what I need at the moment of course as am trying to use what I have and resist buying more :D
    Has anyone used them?
I noticed they are advertising in this month's Cross Stitcher mag

Gutted! Bought 3 gorgeous glittery photo frames in the sale specifically for 3 postcards I got in New York and one of them was totally smashed when I got it out the box! Cant order anymore, they're out of stock :(
  • Good morning stitchers

Just popping in for a virtual coffee with you all while I take a breather from the main task of the day - putting away the decorations. I took them all down yesterday but it takes ages to put them away properly and safely (worth it though)

I also have a lot of Christmas stitchings that need to be stored and as I get out the ones they replaced I always move things around so it takes much longer than it has to.

I mentioned that my dear Dad asked for 2 of my pieces as his birthday and Christmas presents - he chose 2 of the big Mirabilia pieces, Titania Queen of the Fairies which is one of my favourites and is stitched on beautiful opalescent hand dyed linen from Silkweavers and also Rose Celebration which I don't like so much because it was one of the first big Mirabilia designs I did and I used plain white aida which is too stark and every time I look at it I think I should have used a different fabric. Polstitches has a fabric she has dyed specially for this design so perhaps I will do it again

Anyway my Dad also transferred cash to my bank account after he taken the pieces and when I asked what it was for he said it was to cover the cost of framing the replacements. I said he didn't need to do that as they are presents but he insisted and said the gift was the time I spent stitching them. So yesterday I took 4 pieces to be framed. One of my stitching resolutions for 2013 is to finish/frame more of my finished pieces so I also picked out 2 small Mirabilia pieces which I am planning to frame myself
    This is Miss Valentine Fairy

It was a kit which a friend of mine stitched and then loaned me the chart. I stitched it on hand dyed fabric

The other one is Daisy - one of the Pixie Couture range by Nora Corbett stitched on pale lavender linen

I finished Cleaning the House on 3 1 13 and am now trying to decide what to finish for 31 1 13 (thanks Louise)

And I have also finished another UFO - a Mystery garden sampler which became a UFO because I ran out of one of the threads and had to order - by the time it arrived I had moved on. When I was sorting out I found the project with the additional thread and it didn't take long to finish so that's 2 UFOs completed this year :j Just need to decide how to frame/finish it
