Ruth_honey - sounds as though you both had a great time. :)

Its now less than two weeks till we go for our little break and I keep saying I'm going to have all sorts done and get up to date (not just stitchy stuff) before we go but so far not much progress has been made. :o

Off out to Mr. M's this morning - ooooohhh I know how to live - will I be able to take all the excitment ;).

Take care everyone whatever you are up to.

Where abouts are you going? There's never enough time to get things done, is there? We've got so much to do around the house, and I want to put up the tree this year (I think the past 2 years-maybe even 3, I haven't bothered to for various reasons) but I need to rearrange the living room a bit and then get into the garage, which is choc-a-block full of 'stuff' to dig out all the xmas decs. Can't a magic fairy come and do it all while I sleep???

Life getting in the way here, as it has all week! Went out for a nice meal with family for OHs birthday and then to the pub for a drink. The cake went down very well :o Am so glad he liked it!

Oh I love Wicked! I'd love to go again, not very MSE to go twice though. And don't think my OH would appreciate going for his birthday, he's not a musical fan. Funny how our OHs have the same birthday :D

I've got the other half of my root canal later this afternoon, wish me luck :( Foot is much better though so that's something

Can't wait to get the dentist out of the way and for it to be the weekend! Am going to relax and do as little as possible apart from some serious stitching/crafting, it's getting awfully close to Christmas now! This week's been crazy busy, I am feeling the need to put my feet up!

    xx

We've seen Wicked 3 times now. I think the last time was 2 years ago, though and it is my hubby's top favourite musical ever, so he wanted to see it again. GILT offers (coming in December for shows in Jan & early Feb) do some very good deals on tickets, so got tickets from there before. Hoping to see Lion King soon.

Happy belated birthday to your hubby. Glad he liked the cake. It was amazing! I made one for my DH, but it was nothing like yours. I made a heart shaped sponge with blueberry jam filling. Tasted ok, though. Good ole Tesco value cake mix for under 25p (and 3 for 2), so thought if I messed it up, I've not wasted too much money. :rotfl:
eeeek only 5 weeks to go...................and praying I don't need to go shopping again. My little town (sub town of the city) was crazy.....and it's a Friday would hate to see it at the weekends now,

Is it 1st December we post our cards?? (I know I have the PM as an e-mail somewhere as silly me deleted the PM....DOH)

Christmas is sneaking up fast, isn't it??? I was considering going into town this weekend, but I'll leave it until Monday now. Don't like it when it's really busy because I get too stressed.

Had a panic this morning when we didn't wake up until gone 10am and my mum had to leave here at 10:45 to get her train. Luckily that was allowing plenty of time to get across London, so hoping she caught the train (left here about 11:05) and got home ok. It was a bit rushed packing her cases and getting ready this morning though.

Think I might get my stitching out and have a few hours quiet with that. :)

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Thank you for the welcome replies :)

I put a load of things on my birthday wish list cross stitch wise and I think my OH ordered it all:

Small Snap Frame (Because I hate holding the material)
DMC Storage Boxes (Because my threads are all in sandwich bags in my sewing box right now)
Floss Bobbins (Because I want them all nice and neat in the above boxes)
Osprey Cross Stitch Kit (Where we love to go on holiday we like bird watching and finding the Ospreys)
    White Iridescent Aida (It's sparkly)
    Some more Aida 14ct
Blank Coasters (Doing them for Christmas)

I've also put on the list some Anchor threads off Ebay, as DMC seem a bit dearer to buy in bulk. (Right now I only have threads from the market:o)

The frame and something else just came in the post, pity I can't have them until Sunday, they've been hidden from me now.

    Some pictures:

First thing I ever cross stitched a few years ago:

    Some more early things:

    500D-OCTOBER2012ASPEN308.jpg

    500D-OCTOBER2012ASPEN309.jpg

There's a load more small things that I cross stitched early, some went away for gifts and others are most probably packed away somewhere in a safe place that I can't find now.

This is what I'm doing at the moment:
    500D-OCTOBER2012ASPEN312.jpg

Slightly paranoid about putting that picture up in case my sister or her OH sees it, though i highly doubt either of them would ever come on this section of the board so I might be safe as it's a secret I'm doing it for them.

Not finished obviously. I started filling in the empty areas with white as you can see at the top, my OH said it would be better, do you think this needs it all over?

As you can see I tend to do quick designs at the moment so the Osprey kit that I will have for my birthday soon will be the biggest thing I've ever done.

Lovely pictures. I agree that you shouldn't stitch the background.

Thanks for the suggestion FOS, that's a great idea! Any idea where I might buy one of these?

And thanks for the offer of the magic grid evenweave to test. I'm verging towards just buying regular and marking it myself as I think I'll get confused with the magic grid being every 20 threads instead of every 10... decisions decisions...

I'm not being very productive this afternoon, am so exhausted after this busy week that I'm running out of steam. Not helped by the butterflies that have set in RE visit to dentist :(

I can't wait until it's about 4.30 and work is over and dentist is over and I can just head home and relax. :o

Only 3 and a half hours til then, I can do it!!

Hope the dentist visit goes as well as it can.

I have bought full cones of thread from this seller It is Heritage Crafts - the people who sell the kits and charts. Service has always been excellent.

    Morning All,

Started another Christmas card stitch last night. Will stitch a couple more before making them into cards. Can't remember if we are supposed to sign our exchange card or not?

    Hope everyone enjoys their Friday:)

I think we agreed that we would sign our cards but not post photos until everyone had sent theirs
  • :oonly problem i have with the card exchange is i cant find my camera sim so wont be able to photo it before i send it off.
can i suggest we all put surname house number and postcode on the back of the envelope so that if the worst happens and royal snail dont deliver there is at least a chance they will be returned to try posting again rather than get completely lost.
took angel i to show the kids i look after at lunchtime i said ill bring her in again nearer christmas when shes hopefully finished they asked why i dont just finish it over the weekend and bring it on monday:rotfl: one child even said would i do them one each!! there are 30 kids in the class!!!

Here's my progress pic of my 10/11/12 to 11/12/13 christmas sampler. There's much more detail than I was expecting, so I'm not as far along as I'd hoped after 3 days of stitching.

    th_DSCF7736.jpg

Love this sampler...Can I ask where it is from ?

Is it 1st December we post our cards?? (I know I have the PM as an e-mail somewhere as silly me deleted the PM....DOH)

I will find the post with all the details again...gimme a minute...xx

To make the rules a bit clearer, we do sign our cards, just don't say on here or show our stitching until the reveal.
The card can be any size and I don't think any message would offend anyone. If it would please send me a pm and I will let you stitcher know.
We are not paired up but I numbered everyone and then randomly picked numbers so the person you are stitching for is not the person who is stitching for you.

Anymore questions, please feel free to pm or ask on here...

All details have now been sent out. Please let me know if you haven't received them.

    Just four rules

    1) Please post on the 3rd of December !
    2) Don't tell anyone who you stitched for !
    3) Any problems at all, please contact me as soon as possible.
    4) HAVE FUN !!!

I will reveal on the 7th of December who sent to who, and then we can show the cards we received. Also if possible please take a picture of the card you send just in case the person you send to has no way of taking a picture.

    There you go....xx
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)
  • thanks caroline

It's by Design Works. My grandma bought it for me in America years ago, but Sew & So sell it too. http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Christmas-ABC-Sampler__DES-5458.aspx
I'm using different aida, though. Just to make it more festive. :)
    It's a gorgeous design.

Thanks for the rules reminder. Can't wait to post mine! Still not mounted it in the card, though.
