Hi georgia1980 course you can join us.

Ohhhh what IS IT about Marco Pierre White that makes me melt?? I don't think I find him perticularly good looking, he has a big attitude problem but mmmmmmmmmm. (same with Gordon Ramsey).

Have actually got a bit of stitching done............ I almost have a stocking on 'christmas stocking'.

right now do I want an apple pie or a homemade strawberry muffin?
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I would like to do my MIL a cushion for Christmas with a Westy on it. I have a couple of questions relating to this:

    3. Can anyone point me in the direction of a free chart of one from a magazine of a Westy? I have recollections of one being in a fairly recent magazine but as I'm not organised I can't find it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    .

There is a chart of a Westie in a tartan hat in Cross Stitch Favourites Christmas Edition (Issue 196). Don't think it is very big though as it is meant for Christmas Cards (8x6in)

I'd forgotten that for my 30 birthday (many moons ago - well 17) I was bought the DMC thread book which was the complete set in swatches at that time. Had completely forgotten I'd got it, may have to find it out.

    1. I have found one I like http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Westie-on-Plaid-Cushion-Front__GRO-CD5161.aspx but it's out of stock. Does anyone know where I can buy the canvas from for making my own cushion?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I do quite fancy getting one HUGEE bit of aida and doing the whole lot on one like a massive colour chart .

I had considered this as well :T:T:rotfl:

Hi everyone - have been lurking about checking in when I get the chance and keeping up-to-date on everyone's progress.

Managed to stitch the M0usel0ft pink flip-flops for my sister's birthday in Feb (so at least I'm early for a change) and made a start on a small black lab cross stitch. Have left the mammoth black lab for a while as I can't bear to look at it - reminds me of what I ws doing when I couldn't get back to the UK in time to see my Grandad before he passed away.

Ailsb - Westie-wise, ours has just been diagnosed with doggie-dementia [what a year] and our baby loves laughing at photos of him and cuddly toy westies, so I have been hunting for some too. I've tracked down one on the front cover of Cross Stitch Crazy 123 April 2009 which has a lovely cheeky looking westie in amongst some sunflowers/yellow daisies. There's another one on the front of Cross Stitch Crazy 134 February 2010. I think that the sunflower one would lend itself more to being done in wool. Vervaco Verachtert do a kit too which you can sometimes pick up pretty cheaply on eBay (I got one for less than £5, including P&P but I had waited months for one to come up and it's an older style design but suits me just fine!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-new-range-of-contemporary-cross-stitch-cushion-kits-West-Highland-Terrier-/190712714115?pt=UK_Crafts_CrossStitch_RL&hash=item2c675d1383&_uhb=1). Just had a quick look and can't see any bargains I'm afraid. Hope that helps,

    MrsF
  • Thankyou for the warm welcome.

I have a Westie dog so I think my next cross stitch may involve one of those too. I'd also be interested if anyone finds a good pattern for one.

I'm wondering if any of you can recommend a good cross stitch book. One that shows how to do all the different stitches as well as having some good patterns.

    Thank you xx

    2. I assume that I can use a normal chart and wool to stitch it. Is this right?

    3. Can anyone point me in the direction of a free chart of one from a magazine of a Westy? I have recollections of one being in a fairly recent magazine but as I'm not organised I can't find it.

Oh, nearly forgot I'm no longer going to the show at the NEC on Friday. I'm going on Thursday now - counting down, really excited.

Willow Fabrics sell canvas and wool. The kit you linked to is a lovely cute design but personally I don't like acrylic. It is much cheaper than wool of course and is a personal choice. Needlepoint kits usually have the design printed on the canvas though you can use a chart

Black Sheep Wools have 2 cushion kits with Westies

Though I would wait until the show in case you see something there (not long to wait). Hope you can let us know what it was like.
