I'd put them on rings (like in the pic) in colours (e.g. my treads are sorted into reds/oranges, greens/ blues, browns/ blacks, pinks/ purples so whichever bag I'd assign them too thats what I'd put together.

these are expensive but this type of thing.

    Afternoon all

I have set myself a new mantra that I will stitch at least one length of thread on one of my ongoing projects, be it the Permin small Christmas design, Jemima Puddleduck (doing as part of Mums xmas pressie) or one of the others. At least things get a bit closer to being completed that way.

If any of you are cardmakers, I am clearing out all my decoupage sheets so if you are looking for anything in particular (I have Paper Nation, Moreheads, Xmas, floral etc etc) the list goes on, do inbox me

    Regards

WORLD OF COSS STITCHING - Issue 197

Free Gift - 1- Somebunny to love card kit, quite cute. 2- Lili of the Valley 'decorating the tree'. t's a cute enough desing but I'm not too keen on all the white used.

This is cute but don't think I'll ever stitch it, if anyone wants it let me know! I like the decorating the tree chart

Warm Hearts,Forever firends design - Pretty basic and straightforward stitch. Would be easy to make and put in a frame as a quick gift.

    Probably won't ever stitch this

Pg15 (letters) Someone has stitched 'Ballerina Beauty' and it looks amazing. Something I would love to tackle but I have too many other things to do.

A Note from Margaret - Can anyone else tell me the point of writing about an old sofa cos it's lost on me??

No idea :rotfl: I don't actually ever read it!

Poinsettia ABC - Flowery so not for me but others may like it for cards, coasters etc

Not keen on it as an alphabet, might pinch the flower motifs for cards etc

Santa's Office by Joan Elliot - lovely, bright and cheeful design. Looks more complicated than it is. I think my mum would love this - but not this year!
    [/B]
I like the picture and the detail, but not keen on the colours for some reason

Festive trees - for cards - there are two that I like, the curly one and the one with all the writing.

Love these, will add to stash, possibly next years cards :D

Subs Extra - Eat Drink and Be Merry - cute, lots of little motifs

Agree, definitely more for my 'design library'

Sparkle & Shine - Samplers aren't really my thing tbh but this is quite pretty in a muted sort of way.

I like this, but as it uses all the shades of the diamant thread, don't think I'll ever stitch

Design Library - Stitch me quick xmas designs - prfect for last minute cards

    Yes, more for the library!

Stocking fillers - these are a bit different from normal. Lanyards, gadget cosy case, phone case etc. I like the space invaders design and 'keep calm and LOL' :rotfl:

    Not sure about these

Christmas Meerkat - was it really 4 weeks ago I saw this and thought my MIL would love it? Time has flown. It doesn't look like it will take too long so I will try and fit it in I think :)

    So cute :D

Christmas Cupcake - Thank goodness there will be a new monthly thing soon

    No comment :rotfl:

Winter Window - part 3 of the series. Pretty but not for me.

As someone else said, not keen on the pink curtains! Also doesn't look that snowy to me.

Christmas Stocking - one of Lucie Heatons mice, very cute.

    Love these mice!

Country Christmas - Very 'Downton'...1920's style christmas staircase scene with people dressed up. If I stitched this I would have to make changes though - a couple of the faces (lady in yellow in particular) look a little 'cartoony' and her bust looks too low and droopy :rotfl:

I agree the faces are shocking, puts me right off lol

Next Month - The spanish Lady looks lovely, and Tom Mouse pouring champagne is very cute :)

Pinched Louise's post, my comments in red.

Think I'm going to cancel my sub when it's over, the last few issues haven't been so good I think and it's not worth buying it if I only like one or two things.

Still thinking I'll swop Mollie Makes for Cross Stitcher and buy any others I like as and when. It's not like I haven't got enough to do in the mean time :A

  • I know what you mean skoobie, not amazingly impressed - i got my mag on Friday, and all I have managed is to flick through it - i could do with the £3 a month in my pocket too. I have hundreds of mags. I don't need any more...

see I just know the minute I cancel the sub, there will be something I really like......

oh and I have to say I don't think I will be stitching 400 odd colour swatches. I'm bored and I'm still on swatch 1 !

Hmm yeah, but if we only like something in every other mag, it's almost cheaper to buy the ones we want rather than have a subscription.

Why spend hours stitching those little samples: http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/DMC-Stranded-Cotton-Shade-Card__DMC-W100A.aspx

but what about the threads I don't actually have??? This must be the most expensive project I have ever thought about doing !! I think I would stitch them in grids say blocks of 10 x 10 colours. not sure whether to have gaps and whether to include the thread numbers. would be a bit useless without the numbers. I will have to ponder..... and start saving my £2 coins so I can one day afford the complete set.

For example, the first row would be 10 x 10 stitches of the following colours

    White
    B5200
    Ecru
    48
    51
    52
    52
    53
    69
    90
    92

then repeat on the next row with the next 10 colours.....

I guess I could stitch the boxes so for the colours I didn't have, I could ensure I left room for them and didn't miscount.

    would you stitch 10 x 10 or 5 x 5?
what colour aida? (i guess it has to be white)
what size aida, assuming 100 10 x 10 stitches plus space for thread number.

lol I would only do the ones I had. (should I ever get the urge) then as and when I got new threads I'd do them as I opened them.

I would have to do mine on individual bits but I guess if you did 10x10 you could stitch black outlined boxes to complete as and when.

I do quite fancy getting one HUGEE bit of aida and doing the whole lot on one like a massive colour chart .

I'd forgotten that for my 30 birthday (many moons ago - well 17) I was bought the DMC thread book which was the complete set in swatches at that time. Had completely forgotten I'd got it, may have to find it out.

I would like to do my MIL a cushion for Christmas with a Westy on it. I have a couple of questions relating to this:

    1. I have found one I like http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Westie-on-Plaid-Cushion-Front__GRO-CD5161.aspx but it's out of stock. Does anyone know where I can buy the canvas from for making my own cushion?

    2. I assume that I can use a normal chart and wool to stitch it. Is this right?

    3. Can anyone point me in the direction of a free chart of one from a magazine of a Westy? I have recollections of one being in a fairly recent magazine but as I'm not organised I can't find it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh, nearly forgot I'm no longer going to the show at the NEC on Friday. I'm going on Thursday now - counting down, really excited.
