Back from a lovely weekend at the Bridgwater Carnival - really cold but lovely.

Anyway on the stitchy front I have only got the 4 corners, the writing and the berries to complete Bethlehem. I am going to add red beads to it instead of cross stitching the berries. Going to leave the word until 10.11.12.

Ruth - the Tree of Stitches uses 13 different stitches (I think). I loved stitching it.

Chicky - don't know if you got the "cheating" fabric but I think that's a great idea for the quilt for the elf and so much quicker.

Louise - only a personal thought but I think that Advent Calendars should be religious and I love your one, you are right it will last for ever. Your picture has reminded me that I bought a panel in the summer to make an advent calendar for Charlie. Must get cracking and do it.

Maria - love your completed ornaments.

    FOS - stocking is lovely.

Sweetcarer - your purple work piece is really coming along well. Love to see the updates.

Have been away with my Aunt this weekend (she's in her mid 80's) and she loves my scarf that I knitted using Rio wool. I managed to buy the same sort of wool but a different make for £5 a ball today instead of £9.99 for the Rio. Have started knitting it tonight and it seems to be knitting up ok, a bit slower than the Rio CanCan but for half the price I can live with it. She also commented that I didn't do cards last year and she missed getting one from me. Came home to WOXS waiting for me, I'm going to stitch her the Crib (no 39 in the design library).

Had a quick browse of https://www.colray-crafts.com, what a lovely site. Have ordered a Dragon kit from them for the stash. What do you all think of this design, I really like it. http://colray-crafts.com/bigxsc.php?aida=14&ProductID=64578. Don't have the time to stitch it, the place to put it or the funds to buy it so for now I am safe but may end up buying it at some point.

  • Ailsb - I did order the 'cheating' fabric - looking forward to it arriving. tho when i'll get around to stitching it i'd love to know.

That dragons eye is amazing but I agree - what to do with it once it's stitched.

when I saw this earlier - I was  about what it was ??? but now I get it :D and wow I love it !!!! what mag was this in ?

it was in cross-stitcher. didn't tell you how to make them just the idea.

I like it cause i find even holding threads next to each other just doesn't give the desired effect and you could easily take say 345 off (no the first person to tell me what colour that is without looking it up does not win a prize :rotfl:) when you go shopping and find a match if you need to compare dmc/ anchor or something.

I think I'd stitch them as and when I opened a skein rather then all in one go.
It's not the fault of the staff at the shops - they are all at risk of losing their jobs, not a nice place to be.

I am sure the kid will get his ipad too.

have to say I agree. It's not like he's been singled out NO ONE is allowed to use their gift cards. Not just him. but awww doesn't it make for a good sob story. No one says how long mummy had been holding onto the voucher for. Personally I wish the governing bodies would actually buy the item (they could probably get them in bulk for a fraction of the price) and distribute them.

You know some 'lovely local business' will see his 'plight' and purchase one. I mean how on earth did children with special educational needs possibly cope in the days before Ipads and Laptops?
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Bright red? If I am right, does that make me a stitching geek? :D

Eta-trick question. There is no 345!

Hopefully the bad publicity will change their mind. Really puts you off buying gift cards, though.

I never buy gift card since the problems with Woolworths and Focus last time. There is one voucher I will buy though, the 'high street' one or one for our local regional shooping centre as it covers three complex's and a bowling/cinema place.

    Hi ladies.

Catch up time so apologies if I cover old news :)

Mrsmp. Glad you got the angels face sorted out. Don't worry, you aren't alone in making those kinds of mistakes :o

Maria. Nice finishes, especially the stars.

FOS. Very nice stocking, really like it.

Sweetcarer. Hope you are feeling better after your night terror. Purplework is looking great.

Ailsb. Really like Bethlehem, look forward to seeing it finished. Glad you had a nice weekend away.

Catwoman. Nice Wizard progress. The colours really stand out on the black.

    As for me.
No stitching done here for a few days now. When I started the Cat and kittens I wasn't in a hurry to get them finished but I have finally ordered all the fabric and threads I need for the Bird Table design and 4 xmas designs. I just know that once it all arrives I'll want to get started straight away so now I'm wanting to get the cat done asap.
With the cold weather we now have though all I want to do after lunch is bundle myself up under the fleecy blanket. Really must put my mind to it and get done because it will NOT end up as a UFO :D
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

angel now has a face and feet but not done a lot else as running about after the boys all yesterday - youngest caving with scouts at matlock dropped him off then had to drive to sheffield to pick up DS1 and a friend whod been to a concert and stayed over at a hotel, then back to matlock to collect muddy DS2 and his friend, drop both friends off and come home dinner sort school stuff etc out the open mic nigt at a pub 7 miles away for DS1 to do his stuff picking up two more friends who wanted to watch, home late dropping freinds off along the way - then crawl into bed. so didnt really have a sunday missed homeland so need to catch up with that tonight while DS2 is at scouts hopefully

Well I've started my first colour swatch.... will post pic when done. Would love to do them all. :)

On the basis I had all the threads (and plenty of time) - and stitched them all (anchor and dmc!!!!!!) - would you attach them together (and how???????) or would you leave them separate and perhaps put them in a box? in order?

back to the c0met voucher article, I was browsing on this forum yesterday and there appear to be many in the same situation who have vouchers and can't spend them. Very frustrating. Its wrong that these stores can take your money (for vouchers) but then not honour them. I feel sorry for the staff who are facing the wrath of customers and also face the prospect of losing their jobs. I hope a buyer is found for them and that all the jobs are saved.
