Stitching a foot in that much detail...:( No ta...:D
I do enjoy seeing cross stitch that is a bit different from the norm, though. As much as I love cute designs, scenery, samplers etc, it's good that some people are daring to be different.

WORLD OF COSS STITCHING - Issue 197

Free Gift - 1- Somebunny to love card kit, quite cute. 2- Lili of the Valley 'decorating the tree'. t's a cute enough desing but I'm not too keen on all the white used.

    AGREE!

A Note from Margaret - Can anyone else tell me the point of writing about an old sofa cos it's lost on me??

I didn't see the point of this either? Particularly as there was no picture of the new sofa.

Christmas Meerkat - was it really 4 weeks ago I saw this and thought my MIL would love it? Time has flown. It doesn't look like it will take too long so I will try and fit it in I think :)
Umm can you explain the squashed stitches??? I was reading their explanation on the bus but was

Christmas Cupcake - Thank goodness there will be a new monthly thing soon
    yay!

the scarf I'm knitting is coming along but its taking ages. any tips on how best to finish off ?? pom poms / tassells etc / buttons (to be different??) what would you suggest?
  • FE - nope it's no good I can't actually describe squashed stitches in words.....

I'm gonna make the chicken slice that Nigel Slater made last night :)http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chicken_and_leek_pie_77394

How did it turn out - looks really yummy!

For dinner we just had soup and the some veg spring rolls that were in the freezer. Will do shopping tomorrow and see how little I can spend.

Thought I would share a pic of my ladybird slippers :rotfl: that I bought today. Also pictured are the Animal gloves I bought (bargain at £3) plus a pic of the scarf I am knitting....

In the top corner of the pic, you can just see some ribbon. This is to wrap round some of my xmas gifts where I'm including a scratch card!!

Love the ladybugs - where did you get them? They are so cute.

We've just eaten M&S Haddock (lightly dusted) with salad and creamy coleslaw (the haddock was whoopsied so that made the taste even better ;)). Now having a cuppa and a dime bar :o).

Decided not to stitch this evening - will settle down and watch Strictly and XFactor.

sweetcarer - still loving your purplework. Try not to worry too much over things but I know that is easier said than done.

    Ruth_honey - sounds as though you've had a productive day. :)

FE - chocolate brownie cheesecake with cream - sounds delish :p

Right Strictly it is now :D

PS Passed a gritter on the way home tonight

Yep passed the gritter tonight - 10pm - went to see maw and paw - felt like a hug from my maw.

Thank you all for your kindness it is much appreciated - on the plus side hubby applied for 6 jobs today instead of the average 3 he applies for each day. We popped into a$da on way home to see if there was any cheap bread left - got text from sister but none when we got there - tho I did find 2 recepits - will do the price gaurantee on them and use the money for them off tomorrow.

    Keep well girls and warm

    sweetcarer ;)

    1,Not keen
2, ok but but i think i would prefer a green tree, like somebody else said sorry but i cant remember who

Warm Hearts,Forever firends design - Pretty basic and straightforward stitch. Would be easy to make and put in a frame as a quick gift.

    Not for me

Pg15 (letters) Someone has stitched 'Ballerina Beauty' and it looks amazing. Something I would love to tackle but I have too many other things to do.

Love this to although im not great with big things still havent finished my H&E

A Note from Margaret - Can anyone else tell me the point of writing about an old sofa cos it's lost on me??

    dont get it either sorry

Poinsettia ABC - Flowery so not for me but others may like it for cards, coasters etc

    quite pretty

Santa's Office by Joan Elliot - lovely, bright and cheeful design. Looks more complicated than it is. I think my mum would love this - but not this year!

    like this

Festive trees - for cards - there are two that I like, the curly one and the one with all the writing.

    love these

Subs Extra - Eat Drink and Be Merry - cute, lots of little motifs

    love these

Sparkle & Shine - Samplers aren't really my thing tbh but this is quite pretty in a muted sort of way.

Design Library - Stitch me quick xmas designs - prfect for last minute cards

nice i like little xmas designs

Stocking fillers - these are a bit different from normal. Lanyards, gadget cosy case, phone case etc. I like the space invaders design and 'keep calm and LOL' :rotfl:

really like these and have already started on 2 MP3 player cases for xmas presents, and i like the key rings

Christmas Meerkat - was it really 4 weeks ago I saw this and thought my MIL would love it? Time has flown. It doesn't look like it will take too long so I will try and fit it in I think :)

    not for me

Christmas Cupcake - Thank goodness there will be a new monthly thing soon

    no more all ready

Winter Window - part 3 of the series. Pretty but not for me.

Christmas Stocking - one of Lucie Heatons mice, very cute.

    love stockings

Country Christmas - Very 'Downton'...1920's style christmas staircase scene with people dressed up. If I stitched this I would have to make changes though - a couple of the faces (lady in yellow in particular) look a little 'cartoony' and her bust looks too low and droopy :rotfl:

    not for me

Next Month - The spanish Lady looks lovely, and Tom Mouse pouring champagne is very cute :)

    my thoughts are in red.

It was absolutely gorgeous. Cheap too. Made half the size one he did, and there's enough for three pieces. I will add photo tomorrow if u like.

Chicken was £3 for 4 pieces and I used 2 for three slices. I used mushrooms instead of leek, a bit of bacon, a bit of onion, a bit of milk, a carrot (I don't like leek) and a spoonful of mustard.

    Yummy and simple x

Ladybird slippers were from New l00k and cost £5.99 which I didn't think was too bad since they are the kind of thing that will make me smile every time i see/wear them! I was shocked at the price of some of the scarfs I saw and gloves (£13 plus with holes in them already ) which is why I am so pleased with my £3 bargain and as for the scarf- well knitting my own is enjoyable although I strongly recommend you don't knit while trying to watch a film and drinking wine. I noticed I had dropped a stitch so had to undo several rows - hopefully I have unpicked and restored the stitches back on to the needle correctly. if there is still a hole then will simply add a charm or similar.

Happy Sunday everyone. It looks like the sun is going to come out. Its been so dismal with all this rain.

Hi, sorry really quick post to answer qus. Will catch up properly when it's not 12:36 am!

Re long socks... Poundland, 99p stores are great. I've been wearing cheap stripy long socks with boots for a decade or so and they do last. I now (since May) also play sport (!!!!) and long socks, brighter the better, are a must for this rather unusual sport. Primark is ok too, though check the length, i once bought a pack of Knee High and they barely got past my calves! If its particular colours you're looking for there's a great eBay shop, if I can remember its name...

    Re Xmas fabric
. I buy the "Xmas remanant bundles" From Strawberry Fair patchwork shop (sorry cant link). Lady is lovely. Those bundles have lots of different, all Xmas prints, and about A4 size each... Perfect for table runners and cushions etc.
If u want bigger bits, try Fabric Land. Their website is unusual, (eg, loud, glittery and oddly formatted - when scrolling over 6 pgs of prints, check the pg number you are on, as pg 4 is often skipped over!), but they are great on the phone. If they don't have a seasonal tab, look under 'poly prints' and 'printed cottons'. I've bought quite a bit from them before and find them good quality and good on the phone. Postage is best checked by phoning though.

Thanks for the reminder about FabricLand as I need to order some more Vilene 640 for Xmas stockings and they sell rolls at 20% discount :money: Unfortunately their phone ordering line isn't open at the weekend only Mon - Fri
