Sk00bie - I do lots of other crafts as well including quilting but my first love is cross stitch, I can do it watching the telly and it doesn't take over the rest of the room. well what I'm stuucthing at the time doesn't but my stash is another matter!! Love the pattern for the Owl but I can't seem to master knitting on a circular needle, I can do patterns, cables and follow patterns but circular needles are another matter.

Mrs MP - I had a chuckle to myslef this morning as I read your post as a Bleeding needle not a beading needle. Hope you dort the angels face.

I thought I'd posted last night but it has disappeared. I finished the fairies and had to put the bugs away as we are going away for the weekend to the Bridgewater Carnival and I can't take the bug with me as my son is also coming with us and might question what I'm stitching.

Anyway went and had a look for other colour fabric to do the tree of stitches (available from Abi Gurden at www. beesneedleworks.co.uk) and found this kit that my Mum had started. 8147371815_f7a940b05a.jpg

I have decided to finish this as my 12.12.12 piece. I also found an old Mill Hill Buttoned & Beaded Kit - Ho Ho Sampler which I'm also going to have a go at finishing.

Will be AWOL this weekend as have no internet access in the caravan we are staying in so have a great weekend everyone.

I get like that in Hobbycraft sometimes. I got a voucher for 25% off that was in the paper but as I said to hubby,I still need to find the other 75% and it would still be more expensive than shopping online:rotfl:

    **********Off Topic************

Does anyone have a Kindle fire? I have a normal one and love it, but dunno whether to drop hints for the newer one?

75%-that's a good way of thinking.

Hubby has the original kindle-with keyboard bit-and it's great. Not sure I'd want the kindle fire. I've got an iPad an LOVE it. Yes, I know they're a lot more money, but I honestly thing it's worth it in the long run. Hubby recently bought a Samsung tablet and I can't get on with it at all.

Feeling very stressed out today. My to-do list is a mile long and I'm feeling overwhelmed by everything. All I want to do is go back to bed & hide under the covers.

I managed to resist the Sparklies fabric-for now!

Sweetcarer-that purplework is looking so good. :)

Tree of stitches is very interesting. Not seen anything like it before. How many different types of stitches does it use?

  • Good afternoon stitchers and happy Friday. :j Am looking forward to being able to catch up with some of stitching this weekend (no visitors).

Shelly (and others Sorry my links didn't work - I usually preview long posts and check links but I was rushing to finish my catch up post (never a good idea)

OFF TOPIC Thank you for all the comments about the iPad The photo option really appeals to me as well. We also only have 1 TV in the house so I may use it for watching/listening in another room. One of my main reasons for wanting one is for travelling - I always have papers to carry when on business journeys and these plus my work laptop get really heavy. My home laptop is too big to fit in my kitchen which has very limited worktop space. I don't have a netbook

ruth honey sorry I missed out on the Halloween cupcakes - they looked delicious. Hope you are feeling better now. Diving back under the duvet is rarely the right thing to do

23rdspiral Love the wedding photos and the story behind the dress and shoes (both stunning). You both look so happy - it brightened my day to see your smiles

skoobie love the angel; thanks for posting the link to the owl - that could tempt me into knitting again but where is the spare time? :D

leemina parcels full of stitchy stuff = bliss

sweetcarer love your "purplework" and it seems to be really growing well. How sweet of your DH to buy you the stork scissors

bossymoo I do other stitchy things - I could happily go from craft to craft - there is always more I want to do than time available but at least I am very rarely bored. I love patchwork, applique, stitchery and quilting. I can knit but very rarely do.

maria What a lovely day you had yesterday

mrsmp hope you can work out the angel face problem

ailsb Hope you enjoy your weekend away; Bethlehem is a lovely design and finishing something that your Mum has started is a really nice idea

Hope everyone has a great weekend

    Couple of off topic questions.....

Anyone know the best place to get knee length (or higher) socks? Popped into m&$ on the way home but the knee high socks they had were £9.50 for two pairs  and the colour theme (most important) was very boring.

second question..... anyone shop in a$da and know if their xmas gift range is any good? How do the prices compare ??? (to B00t$ say?) I was in Superd%ug last week - their xmas gifts were one third off. of course I didn't buy any and now its the 3 for 2 deal. Been in wilkin$ons tonight and they have some nice gifts but nothing that was very :money: so thought I would see what A$da had to offer but little point if I can get a better deal in B00t$ on their 3 for 2.

As for christmas gifts, I was looking at Matalan's website last night & they've got some nice gifts. 3 for 2 at the moment, also.

And I didn't go into primark the other day, but they had some cheesy christmas jumpers in the window. I want one! LOL! Oooh, they might sell long socks too...

  • I saw some nice over knee socks for £3.50 in Peacocks.

I got some black ones with black pompoms and my friend got the cream ones. They're really nice and don't sag :)

can i ask a crafty question?
ok well i will anyway :D

where's the best place to get a bundle of christmas fabric? I've seen some offers on ebay which look good but only have 1 or 2 printed christmas pieces and the rest are plain or boring.

I want to use my sewing machine to make a tiny cushion cover and a tiny patchwork blanket for our christmas elf when he comes to stay.

    Thanks.
