  • Flat Eric I'm sorry but no!
Ailsb could you put the colours you are using on top of the fabric and are how they look together? That tree is fab don't think I could do anything like that!

    Hi all

I havent done any more yet, and didn't get lots of sleep last night, but I might make a start on backing my lil tiger.

On the subject of iPads, IMHO they are fab, quick to boot, very portable, I do love mine. But I think I love it too much iykwim. I'm never off it. It's addictive, and does give me another option to avoid getting jobs done ;)

Do you do other stitchy bits? As well as cross stitch? We made patchwork quilts last year for my little ones (actually, the tiger is to decorate one of the squares). I'm really getting into sewing all round. Can't knit for toffee though...

Sweetcarer - that's looking fab and you're stitching it really quickly.

Had a meeting I was supposed to be at this mroning cancel last minute so I've stitched instead. Finished the fairies - YAY. Now stitching the bug for son, once this is finished I will start on the tree of stitches for my sister and BIL. I've never stitched a design twice before (tree of stitches) so hope I don't get too bored with it. I'm hoping that the different stitches and using different colours will keep me going.

Quick question re Tree of Stitches. I have some white even weave that I could use for this design and can use thread that I also have so no expense. The question is do you think white fabric is too stark if I want to stitch the design in autumnal colours reds/oranges?

Here's a picture of the one I stitched for myself earlier in the year, don't think I posted before. 8144618646_6b1bbcb245.jpg

Picture doesn't show it but this is stitched on cream evenweave. If white is too stark will need to buy some fabric. Colour ideas greatly appreciated.

That is beautiful Ailsb, where is the design from? I don't think white would be too stark but I do tend to buy antique white evenweave so it's not quite so bright :) I second Maria's suggestion of putting the threads on top of the fabric to check it if you're worried.

I do all sorts of other crafty things, I just love making :rotfl: I suppose that's why my stash is taking over. I don't knit either... Well I could manage basic knitting, my nana taught me when I was little. I want to teach myself though as I've seen a fab giant owl project I want to do, there's just not enough hours in the day!

Edit: This is the owl :)

Ailsb love the tree id do as suggested and lay the threads on the fabric you have to see how they look against it.

had a really lazy day today, it was DS1s student review day -school closed but you get a 10 minute appt with form tutor for you and your child at a random time during the day. i got 11.45 after asking to be finished by 11.30 for work:mad: so rang and complained and had to swapped to 10am either side of the appt i decided it wasn't worth doing any housework so ive stitched the gold band all long the bottom of blackwork angels dress and the smaller one along the bottom of her cloak:T need to do something housey now

Maria, love your handprint cushion :T
Sk00bie, amazing dress it would be one of the only style of dresses I would ever wear. Love your fininised angel, the beads show it off.
FOS, love all the different angels. I love the design in the top left, very shabby chic
Louise, great progress for the '12 days of christmas'.
23rd, love your dress too, the lace overlay (?) on the skirt is stunning.
sweetcarer, glad you had a good day in Edinburgh.
Alis, wow that tree of stitches is amazing, so much to look at :D

Thanks all for your comments on London. It will be framed once I find a framer, sadly I have been working long days since going back to work. I am hoping for a white fram and red mount, or white mount with a red edge iyswim. Going to google tonight and phone around tomorrow to framers.

Now I don't usually buy magazine anymore because they make my stitching list too long. But I picked up Cross Stitcher today and the free gift looked good and then I saw the back/other projects and 'had' to have it ;)

So can I do a round-up like everyone else please :rotfl:

    Free gift Reindeers
Love it! I purchased it in Mozzie's so got another free gift of a kit and chart for PatchWork Cards not my thing but may stitch the mushroom :rotfl:

    Furry Friends
Will certainly stitch the fox and squirell from this, prob for cards? Annoyed though as would have prefered this squirell to the one I chosse for my christmas card this year. But that said it wouldn't have matched the snowflake and words.

    Merry Christmas festive wall hanging
    Not for me!

    Stocking fillers
Might do some of these for tree decorations. Not this year though.

    Winter wonderland
Will stitch the penguins from this. Unsure as/on what maybe a little mini cushion. Not on green and smaller/different coloured snowflakes.

    Kisses make up bag
    Not for me!

    City of Angels
    Not for me!

All I want for xmas is...
    Not for me!

    Home for xmas welcome hanger
Not for me! But may steal the birds for 'something'.

    Emily peacock letters
    Subscribers only - not applicable.

    Peace on Earth
Love the design and would love to sticth it on hand dyed fabric however why? Might go onto my pile to stitch.

    Applique feature
Always wanted to try applique and it looks a good article... However its another craft :o

    Season's greetings
Love them! Seasons Tweetings could be my christmas card 2013 if its a fast stitch, if not it will be only used for 1 or 2 cards.

    Buying next months?

No although I do love the snowman and cat there is nothing else I like. Can't justify £4 for one (small looking) chart.

Have a great end of the week all :j

    This is stunning.
As has been suggested I would lay the threads on the white evenweave and judge from there.
If you think the white is too stark have you considered tea or coffee dyeing the fabric? Very :money:

    Hi ladies.

23rd. Beautiful wedding pictures! Wishing you both a long and happy marriage :)

    Skoobie. Love the finished angel.

Sweetcarer. Loving the purplework, it's coming along great.

Ailsb. I really like the Tree of Stitches, unusual and interesting.
