eeeeeeeek. look at tomorrows magic numbers.
11.11 on 1.11 or worse 11.11 on 11.11 (poppy day?)
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
  • GRRRRRRRRRRRRR Just caught a button and my post has just disappeared - must take more care :o

Have tried to stitch some sequins onto 'Tis the Season' tonight without success :o. I am sure I have read somewhere that you can do this by using a french knot but the holes in the sequin seem quite large and the knot just pulls through. I dont usually have problems with french knots so I think I will just have to get the glue out. ;)

Might sort out the threads and fabric for Boofle tomorrow.

    Take care everyone

I've used a seed bead on top of a sequin if a french knot won't work. Hope you will be able to share photos of this project - I love Lizzie Kate designs :)

    Hi everyone

this is just a quick one, I'm still on page 66 trying to catch up. New job is keeping me busy and I'm also doing FlyLady when I'm at home so not as much stitching as I'd like. The trouble is I've just found this:

    http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8873:26754956268cde7db894965b09bfe460

I absolutely should not buy this. I have far too much stash already (including at least four other HAED) but I have fallen in completely in love with it. It is calling out to me. I already know who I'd give it to if/when it's finished. Plus it is on sale too. Hmmmm. What to do, what to do? Can I put it to the vote?

Well as a good :money: I should be advising you to stitch what you have in stock first BUT if you have fallen in love with the design, have the required fabric and threads already in your stash (so this purchase won't lead to more spending) and you will start stitching it straightaway then I would say go for it while it is on sale. Having said that HAED have regular sales so this alone shouldn't be a deciding factor. It is beautiful BTW
  • skoobie loving the angel - it will look wonderful when made into a decoration

louise 12 Days is really coming along well. Good for you being able to say no to the request; I find that non stitchers have no idea of how long our pieces take (even at your rate of stitching)
If no one else has done it before this evening I can take a photo of City of Angels - not sure that it will be what you expect
This site has a picture of the front cover and the City of Angels is the angel head at the bottom right
You have really done well this year not only in finishing the stitching on so many but also on not relegating many of them to the box of doom

    OFFTOPIC

I've got a Kindle and love it and must admit I was looking longingly at the Kindle Fire but after some discussions with my DS he persuaded me that what I really "need" is an iPad. He has just told me that he has organised among the family that they are buying me one as a joint birthday and Christmas present from all of them :j So if I want to read anything from my Kindle in colour I will be able to read it on the iPad. This probably isn't helpful but I am so pleased with what DS has done I had to share. After reading on here that you can print out charts I may consider an electronic subscription for one of my xs magazines.

    BACK ON TOPIC
ruth honey Shame about your abortive trip to HC - sounds like you needed some retail therapy. Are you still resisting the Sparklies material? I agree that there seem to be lots of lovely Christmas and Halloween designs

Hello bossymoo Hope you stay out of lurkdom - we don't bite and we love to read anything vaguely stitchy related. i would have suggested blanket stitch for finishing your piece

mrsmp I think the only way to get the back and front the same on a blackwork piece is use Holbein stitch rather than backstitch. This can be useful if you want the back to show - perhaps if you were stitching a bookmark that you were going to laminate. Otherwise who is going to see the back of a framed piece?

I was in Wilco's yesterday looking for a photo frame and also bought a lovely white heart shaped mount (to fit a 10 x 8 frame) which I thought would be lovely for a suitable heart shaped design. It was less than £2 so I didn't feel bad buying it when I haven't found the right design (and I could use it for a photo)

Hope you have a good Halloween (however you define "good" )

Craftgranny - thanks for posting the angel charts again - I really like them and think if the RR happens I'd like to use them for mine.

    Maria - love your trees.

Chaplin - a belated welcome to the cafe. Hope you have sorted your plastic canvas now.

Flowers - I love the link for Sparkles have spent hours browsing it. would love to buy some but don't know what I'd stitch on it. Any ideas for what to stitch would be appreciated. I've never used hand dyed fabric and don't know what to do. Please HELP beofre the offer ends. Quite fancy using the Autumn colour one.

Flowerp - welcome. Can't help with the charts sorry.

Sk00bie - love the dress and shoes.

Louise - 12 days is coming along really well.

Ruth - I took 2 kits back to HC the other day without a receipt and had a crdit note of nearly £40 plus the £4 off voucher to use. I still have both of them in my purse couldn't find anything. Will give it another couple of weeks and go back for a good look.

Sweetcarer - hope you have a great day out in Edinburgh. Never heard of this parade will need to google it later.

Almost finished the back sticthing on the leaves of the fairies. Can't weight to finish it I'm so veeeryyy bored of it now. It WILL be finished by the weekend.

Re the RR - agree that this should be done in small groups maybe 4 or 6 people and limited to regular contributors from here. Have never done one of these before so happy to be guided by others that have but think 6 weeks is more attainable. Assume we have to agree on the size of the design.

APOLOGIES FOR LENGTH OF POST - I've had a lot of pages to catch up on.

AFternoon all. Finished my second blackwork owl that was an order for my mum's friend. WIll frame it and hopefully pass it on this week. Need to work on Jemima Puddleduck for my Mum as part of her Xmas pressie now.

Does anyone have any of the snowflake garlands that were with a recent cross stitcher that I could buy from you please. I have done the ones from the mag and they look really nice.

You might find this site useful

You can choose designs by Joan Elliott, Mirabilia etc and then view them on hand dyed fabric including Sparklies
The Shades of Autumn fabric is lovely - I got a small piece in a sample pack a while ago.
Hand dyed fabrics seem to be most popular for these type of designs (fairies, angels, ladies etc) or for designs using just one or 2 colours so that the fabric is an important part of the design. This design on cross stitch heaven is a good example of what I mean.
The word trees which I love have also been stitched on hand dyed fabric The family tree would look stunning on the Shades of Autumn fabric

    Hope this helps

FOS. When you insert a link into a word do you use the icon that looks like the earth with a chain link in front of it? If so you need to delete the http:// that's already in the URL box before pasting the address of the site you want to share as your links aren't currently working.
I had this problem a while ago and for the life of me I couldn't figure it out until I saw someone else comment on it.

I hope that didn't come across as rude :o
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
