Hi everyone, hoping use can help i am trying to find some slimming/dieting charts that i can put in to magnets for the fridge.......to help me keep motivated as i am dieting.....many thanks xx

The publishers of World of Cross Stitching (used to be called Origin) released a mag back in the summer? called 365 Cross Stitch designs. This mag featured 8 healthy eating magnets designed by Lucie Heaton. They originally appeared in an issue of World of Cross Stitching (can't remember which issue number) the following month, there were fitness magnets featured but I wasn't so keen on these.

Went to Hobbycraft today, all geared up to spend my voucher (£4 off £20 spend), but I wandered round for ages and saw nothing that inspired me. Couldn't find pinking scissors, kits were way too expensive, magazines didn't grab me and I couldn't be bothered to cart any storage boxes home on the bus. I think it might be valid until end of December, though, so I'll try again another time.

Really tempted to order some of that Halloween fabric from Sparklies. Had such a sucky day that I'm itching to treat myself to something nice.

Sorry you've had a crappy day Ruth_Honey. I hate that, when you go somewhere with money to spend and can't find anything!

I'm on a stitchy spend free month this month, and next as every spare penny will be going on wedding stuff! Hopefully I can live vicariously through you all!

Oh and Ruth, the snow angel is a Mill Hill kit, just realised I didn't answer when you asked :( They're great little kits though, love them!

Love your progress Louise, glad you got over your dislike of the project, it looks amazing :)

Right off to get some dinner then stitchy time!!

    Hello,

I'm popping out of lurkdom to ask for some advice. I have stitched a small motif for my DS. It's only about 2" across, and down, but not a regular shape. My idea was to give it some kind of backing, stuff it a little, to make a tiny cushion, and add a little loop. This is so I can attach it to his patchwork quilt with a button.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this? MIL has given me some iron-on stuff she says will prevent any fraying when I cut the shape. And some felt for the backing. She said just do a running stitch around, it will probably be too small to do face to face then turn outside in.

Hope that makes sense? I don't want to make a mess of it, it's of sentimental important to us.

    TIA

Day is getting better now. Hubby cooked yummy tea & I've drank the blackberry & apple cider that I bought a couple of weeks ago. Very nice.
I didn't realise the kids were still off school, so town was very busy. I needed to spend a couple of money off vouchers in BHS because they expire tomorrow. Wanted a kettle & was looking for some jeans for hubby. Queue was so massive that I dumped the stuff and went to poundland to get some other things that were on my list. Came back after I'd eaten & was slightly less stressed and they had no jeans at all in DH size. Surely 38"short isn't that uncommon? Ended up buying myself a handbag to get the value from the voucher, but feel guilty for buying it. Can always change it for jeans another time, I guess.

Have been eyeing up a cardigan on Yours website, but when I saw it in store it wasn't as soft as I thought it would be. Tried on a purple sparkly jumper, but it was too small on the hips. How long before I can get back to the gym??? :j

On a better note, I made DH call the insurance people about the excess cost. He thought it was £1000, but it's only £100, so hopefully we can get the living room sorted out. The carpet is filthy, we have 3 walls that are bare about half way up the wall and I'm not happy about what the plumber did in the kitchen(cable tying new plastic pipes to old lead ones) so I want it sorted out. We can't even paint the walls for another month, so it feels colder in here and looks such a mess. But this might be the push to redo this room. Not been done since we moved here in 2000. Not a fan of wallpapering, though I don't mind painting.

Like the Mill Hill kits. I've only done one so far, but really enjoyed it. Got a couple more my wish list-Christmas & Halloween ones, I think! :rotfl: What is it about those occasions that work so well in cross stitch?

Louise, can I ask what the red items in your sig are? Also, do u use Flickr? I'd love to see your medieval lady all done and which MP you did... And catching up on a couple of hundred pages ain't going to happen! Lol!

You can......All my projects for this year are listed once completed. I highlight them in blue if I have done something with them (gifted, framed, etc) and I put them in red if they are off to join the 100 or so completed pieces in the box :o After shaming myself witht eh box contents at the beginning of the year I'm quite proud of myself for having so much blue on my list nearing the end :rotfl:

Hope no one minds me posting these again:

I get like that in Hobbycraft sometimes. I got a voucher for 25% off that was in the paper but as I said to hubby,I still need to find the other 75% and it would still be more expensive than shopping online:rotfl:

Does anyone have a Kindle fire? I have a normal one and love it, but dunno whether to drop hints for the newer one?

  • Evening bossy,I would iron on the interfacing and then I would loop the piece of ribbon and place it between the 2 pieces of fabric so the loop hangs out, pin around 3 edges to make it like a pocket, and use the open end to stuff it with some pillow stuffing I would then pin the 4th edge to hold it all in place. I would then do runing stitch around the edge.

I hope that makes sense, I'm not very good at explaining things, if not let me know and I'm more than happy to do some photos to show you tomorrow

Hi Louise, thankyou for explaning, it makes sense now... I remember your completed stash photos well, and agree you must be rather chuffed with your blue list :D:T

Wow your medieval lady is lovely. I remember you working on her. I'd Love a dress like that!

Oh I love your MP. Free MP chart?! It so cute!! Ive got his XmAs Door ready-ish to stitch.... Ive been reading back (looking for your Dr who), and read about the 12.12.12 or 20.12.2012 challenges and would like to do it but know i wouldnt have the time. But I could perhaps manage a small one, or something by Lizzie late. Ooh, decisions!

Darn I missed that chart though :( with wedding expenses, 2 instance excesses & 2 boilers bought this year I cancelled CrossStitcher Sub and do not look at the rest - its actually quite liberating! :rotfl: If anyone is ripping up their mag to sell / store please consider me :o

Hi Bossy, I'd do just as Maria said, but I'd use 'blanket' stitch to join / seal the sachet. It's good as it seals the edge whilst being decorative, and although the first stitch Always looks wonky, it's made good by the last one. Perhaps look it up on YouTube?

Thanks very much! I can do running and blanket stitch so that's a good start! Much appreciated. I'm really getting hooked on my stitching now. I used to do it in my early teens (when babysitting, lol) and I'd forgotten how satisfying it was...
