Cross Stitch Cafe - stitching out of 2012 and into 2013...

I didn't even get time to pop on for a browse yesterday, so busy, haven't even looked at stitching since the weekend - will go have a catch up

Posting my progress, I am on a bit of a roll with it now I have gotten over my hatred of the holly leaves haha :rotfl:

I have a friend who has asked me to make a stitched cube for her, I felt bad saying I doubt I would have enough time I still need to get my mums song done next.

Laughing at things people wear under their wedding dresses :rotfl: I wore small heels for the ceremony but I hat heels as I have a pinned ankle, so I changed into gold ballet pumps straight after - can't beat a bit of comfort! (Ruth I love the sound of your trainers!:D)

Elle - Having a vote is just asking for trouble :rotfl:When you list all those reasons you can tell how much you want it so I would vote BUY *sends Martin to another part of the site..shoo!*:money:Do you think you will be able to stick it out though, it's a big design!

I was in WHS today to see if it was something I would stitch but it's in a sealed bag

I actually thought I was looking for Cross Stitch Collection so I had a nosey through that first...there's not much in that mag is there?? I only counted about 5 projects, really wasn't impressed.

FREE GIFT - Margaret Sherry card kit - One of her cats, I like it, and the card is very pretty as well

JE SNOW ANGEL - I do like her ladies. The colours of this one is very similar to the UFO I found last week.

CROSS STITCH QUICKIE - December fairly. And yet again I have forgotten to email in to them lol.

CELEB STITCH - Keira Knightley....hmmm not sure how much like her it would look tbh

FLORAL GIFT IDEAS - Lots of small flower designs. You all know how I feel about flowers :rotfl:

ADS pg24 - Mouseloft have some cute new designs. I bought some last year - still haven't done them!:o

PENGUIN DOOR STOP - Wow that's a big penguin! Makes a lovely door stop though, I wish I was as crafty at normal sewing

EXTRA - Wreaths, ones with hearts and ballons. Not keen on them

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - Could have stitched them all together and saved myself money :rotfl::rotfl:

CHRISTMAS CALORIES DON'T COUNT - How true!! (I wish) I really like this, it's simple and fun. Some motifs could be used for other things as well.

10 WAYS TO STITCH ON A BUDGET - They should have added another: 11- Don't look at the HAED website at sale time :rotfl:

SANTA AROUND THE WORLD - Funny designs, would be great if you were sending a card to someone in the countries represented. I like the one of him flying past the statue fo Liberty.

SWEET SHAPES - I don't really like them, and would hate cutting them out ith pinking shears in case I made a mistake

FROSTED FLAKES - Xmas snowflake designs on plastic canvas for tree decs - nice, but a lot of work

BOW HANGINGS - These would make good bookmarks

CHALLENGE LUCIE - nothing useful for me

I reviewed both Cross Stitch Crazy and Cross Stitch Card shop on the bus this morning and it is probably easier to say what I do like rather than what I don't like!

The Margaret Sherry kit and chart are cute (free with Cross Stitch Crazy) and will get added to my very long of list of stitchy projects. Not a project for this year. I think if i do stitch it, I might try and get an off white material to save stitching all the white for the snow.

I'm annoyed by all the non stitchy related ads but I guess they need to get revenue where they can.

I think the only other project I sort of like is the Frosted Flakes but not enough to stitch. The penguin looks angry!

Don't find The Buttons cartoon funny.

In summary, apart from the free kit and chart, nothing in the mag particularly interests me.

Cross Stitch Card Shop this month a bit of a disapointment. I don't like the free kit - it doesn't look right? the poinsettas are too overpowering for the design? (does that make sense?)

Boofle is cute but I don't really get the hat/all in one scarf combination. A possible stitch? (perhaps with a different coloured scarf)

Not sure about the Playing Cards.

The Festive Fellows are quite cute. I do like projects designed by Durene Jones.

I do like the Magic Trees. Nice to have something other than xmas themed.

Festive faces handy to have as last minute stitch.

so thumbs down really for both mags. Free kit for Cross Stitch Card Shop next month looks good :T

Went to Hobbycraft today, all geared up to spend my voucher (£4 off £20 spend), but I wandered round for ages and saw nothing that inspired me. Couldn't find pinking scissors, kits were way too expensive, magazines didn't grab me and I couldn't be bothered to cart any storage boxes home on the bus. I think it might be valid until end of December, though, so I'll try again another time.

Really tempted to order some of that Halloween fabric from Sparklies. Had such a sucky day that I'm itching to treat myself to something nice.
