Regarding the Round Robin..I totally agree it should be long term/regular cafe members, and I would like to suggest that we should all consider spending a bit extra and using recorded delivery to make things a little safer? I would feel awful if I posted somethign and it went missing, especially if it was near the end of the year.
Recorded is a great idea....x;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
I'd love to do a round robin - I want to play.0

23rd - that was a very discreet explanation of the fiasco :T
I feel sad remembering it all again. I still have my square here....I had held off posting it when things started to go wrong.
Thankyou Louise. I really appreciate you saying that. I did think twice about jumping in and explaining, esp as I've been absent so long. I hope mo one minded. But I decided clarity was better than alluding to troubles, and figured it might be easier for me to say having not been involved in the new idea at all.
I actually found my chart & leftover threads last week and got all sad - esp as my letter was 'I' for my then fianc! now husband. I was so chuffed I'd posted it on time... Where was my usual procrastination?!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
My thoughts are in blueMy thoughts/questions on the Round Robin
- Do we have a seperate thread for it?
Easier to keep track here
- Is there one person who wants to be in charge of the plan? Heading up the thread, encouraging the exchanges etc.
Suggest a leader and a couple of deputies as this will be a long term project and "life" can throw up unexpected complications I would be happy to be a deputy - stepping in if the leader was unable to participate for a while
- How many people is it ideal to have?
My suggestion would be groups of 6
- If we have lots, do we split people into groups or do we just choose smaller designs and do more of them?
Spilt into groups but have the same posting times etc so that we are all part of the one overall project but 6 minimises risks
- Do we do the change over every month, very second month or longer? (I guess that depends on the size of the squares)
Could we do every 6 weeks? This allows for holidays and other events and means if we start in Jan we will be finished before Christmas when we could do another card exchange
- What sort of size squares are we looking at?
The size of the squares can be left to the owner of each piece but there should be a limit on the stitched size within each square so that we can all keep up. The owner marks out her piece with running stitches or a proper border and each person centres their design in the square
- Do we pick our own designs and send charts or do we let people choose their own?
(For myself, I like the idea of 'squaring' the fabric, picking a theme and letting people stitch what they prefer...I want it to look like a mishmas of ideas and styles, others prefer everything to be matching.)
This can be left up to the individual - if you want to send charts you can but I would say the norm is just to choose a theme and perhaps a colour scheme
-Is it okay to post monthly pics that we have stitched for the othrs - I don't think I can wait a year or whatever to see mine!!:o
I would say this is essential
-Do we do the first square ourselves, to show an example of our theme, or the last one when we get it back and finish it?
The owner stitches the first piece so when it is returned it is completed
- Are people going to sign with their name and location? (I hope everyone does want this tbh)
The owner can specify this
Never done one of these before so any input from those who have is appreciated
As you can probably tell I would love to take part even after having read about the quilt fiasco. Other questions to be considered are: any restrictions on fabric e.g. aida only, no evenweave, no dark colours, 14 or 16 count (no smaller); branded threads - DMC or Anchor or Madeira only to avoid washing problems. The other thing I would recommend is that pieces have to be sent recorded delivery with a message posted here when the piece has been dispatched so that the next person knows to expect it.0 -
Sooo much to consider!!
I think we need to get names of everyone interested first and make decisions based on everyone's input.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Will do pictures tomorrow.
Night night all
Ouch Hope they weren't burned too badly. The results are awesome - you've been like a one woman production line. Love the "bargain fabric" - you couldn't have found anything better at any price. And the hand prints are wonderful0 -

How is everyone getting on with their Christmas Card Exchange pieces, and are we still going to do a Round Robin in the New Year....xx
I've stitched my piece and have the card but will mount it when I do a card making session next month - I hate getting out all the card making gear just for one card. Are you keeping track of where everyone is up to :T
Love the wedding photos and your little boy is SOOO cute0 -

And to the CrossStitcher review - this was my first time Not getting it since cancelling my subscription. I don't feel I've missed out thanks to your descriptions; nice things but not needed. But finances needed it cancelled anyway
I've done very little stitching since the aweful Emily Peacock bookmark wasted time (CS mag sent wrong count fabric, again). Though I did thankfully finally finish the sampler for my friends wedding, and framed it just in time. I'm computer less now but will try to upload a photo when I can if you're interested.
Of course we are interested:D

:shhh: ** creeps in and whispers** does everyone start a quilt and they all get passed around for each stitcher to add their section or is there just one - with the first person starting the first square and then pass it on to stitcher no 2 to add their square??
Sorry for being so thick and probably asking something that is probably quite obvious to everyone else. Blame old age or it could have been the bubbles in my sparkling water i've just had:D
Haven't managed any stitching today yet but I'm still hopeful.

Thanks for the lovley comments everyone. I won't be taking part in the round robin but hope everyone who does has fun
FOS I have one finger where I have a blister just above the nail, which surprisingly doesn't hurt! The other burns I got don't seem to have blisters.
Got 1 Xmas tree made today and managed to buy sprayable sp? Glue in the pound shop so I'm really glad I didn't buy it in hobbyc13 in 2013 challenge 9/130
