    morning all
hope everyone is well and staying warm and cold free

Sk00bie what a beautiful dress and the shoes are lovely.:T

i learnt a valuable lesson over the weekend MEASURE fabric BEFORE you cut do not guesstimate. i bought what looked like a huge piece of evenweave on saturday afternoon eager to start blackwork angel. got home and yes i cut feel ou all wincing as i type i cut it in half found the centre and started stitching. it was only last night when i got down to the widest part of the hem i realised how big it comes up. so my angel isnt going to have her beautiful gold border round her:o:mad: totally my own fault.
on better news i did buy some thread heaven so the gold is easier to stitch with.

halfterms finished here so DH and the kids are back to school/work which means i have to go back as well.
having a catchy up morning as i let things slide last week, nd need to find my camera so i can post a few recently finished up.

Morning all. Lovely to hear about weddings. My dress from 5 years ago is in a vac-pack bag under my mum's bed. I could never part with it. It was teh first one I tried on and no other matched up to it. I felt amazing on the day wearing it.

Anyway, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. In a recent magazine, there was a lovely 'sampler' style design using just white and/or silver thread on a pale blue material but I can't locate the mag. DH requested that I tidy them all away into boxes and now I can't find anything!!!

    THanks

I'm not at home so I can't check but I think this may the design that was in Cross Stitcher. We both commented on it in September so it was probably the October issue. I've got it bookmarked as a must stitch and have even got as far as choosing the fabric. If no one else can help I can check for certain this evening
  • Good morning stitchers. Hope everyone made the most of the extra hour and filled it with stitching :D

sweetcarer Thanks for the update on the competitions. Well done on your highly commended.
Also thanks for the info on the DS (currently on grandson's Xmas list)

pap London is stunning. Will you be framing it soon?

maria what a shame about the scissor keeper.

aneres there is plenty there to keep you busy :rotfl:

caroline agree with your comments about the round robin (I posted my reply before reading yours). We should wait until the card exchange is completed before finalising the RR "just in case".
I think the important thing to stress to anyone taking part is that communication is the key. We can all face unexpected events which mean that stitching has to take a back seat so if someone is unable to complete their square by the deadline they must let everyone know asap. If people know there is a problem a compromise can be agreed e.g. on one of my alphabet samplers someone had to drop out and another stitcher offered to stitch an additional square; another time someone couldn't meet the deadline, posted on the piece on time and got it back at the end.

skoobie Love the dress and the shoes (not sure I agree with the description that they are suitable for "everyday" - ivory suede and everyday just doesn't compute in my day :rotfl:
looking forward to updates as you finalise things - as you say you can't share with your OH but we won't tell :D

    23rdspiral Congratulations::smileyhea
    Wonderful news

FE Good news on Row of Cats - have you got pictures?

mrsmp Oh no We have probably all done something similar but that doesn't make you feel any better
  • You know how sometimes you don't see things that are in plain sight all the time? Well all this talk about round robins reminded me that I have a RR piece on top of one of my thread storage boxes but I had never taken a picture of it. It was an angels theme - quite a few of the designs were the free ones I posted about a few days ago.

    Good Morning Girls,

Surprise - you don't usually see me on this time of day. I have a week of on leave and can't be bothered doing anything except mooch round the internet and catch up with some sewing.

I am still licking my wounds about the competitions but as my Da said to me last night - these other women have been doing them a million years this was your first one. So feel a wee bit better.
Congrates skoobie. Any pics or details about the dress? I've still got mine, often wonder what to do with it as it is just sitting there.

I still have both my wedding dresses. The traditional white (tho I wore cream - would look like a ghost in white) is down at my parents in a bag hanging in their wardrobe. I remember seeing it in a magazine and I searched all of Scotland for it - ended up getting in a small shop in Edinburgh. It had beautiful embroidery in it and that appealed to me as it was close to my stitching.

My other wedding dress (yes, I have been married twice - first hubby died) in a bag in the wardrobe here. It is a red one I got in monsoon - thought it would be good for after for any parties etc. I was so pleased to get in monsoon as I always feel I am a baby elephant tho I get told I am not that bad. So it was nice buying from a nice shop not a tent shop.

Well I am off to check on facebook and then on with some stitching - hubby still in bed so why not.

Keeping the cat company she has been mewing since 7 am, so I just got up and been trying to fire up the internet since - don't know why it doesn't connect at times.

Keep well girls and thank you for your very kind wishes re: the competition.

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)
