Sorry for long post before, this is a pic of what I am working on at the moment. I have it several years and I thought it was time to start it. Scarlet wizard as you can see there is a lot of back stitching in it.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Catwoman - definitely do the backstitch as you go on a big project. I can never face loads of backstitch at the end so if I do it little and often it feels like far less of a chore.0

Hello stitchers (was originally good morning when I started to write this)
Lots to catch up on - love the way this thread is so active
laura Thanks for your link to the thread organiser. It seemed quite expensive compared to the home made thread organisers I use (punch holes in pieces of card and write the thread number next to the hole)
Hi Jarus  Hope you have been bitten by the xs bug and will share your projects with us

storage unit Sorry to all who are now lusting after the craft storage unit. They do promotions from time to time e.g. 15% discount so I will probably mention it again :rotfl:
elliep how awful having 3 weeks of worry to contend with; it must be so difficult to concentrate on anything else
I agree with the comment that gold plated needles are worth the extra cost - they seem to pass through the fabric more smoothly
mrsmp Well done on winning the competitions Think I entered those so the next best thing to me winning is for the prizes to go to someone I knowI have had the Scarlett kit on my wish list at sewandso for ages and I agree it has to be based on KM especially as there is a design that was done for their engagement. Pity they didn't include some spare time with your prizes
benny I would use a 24 needle for 14 count aida and a 26 needle for 28 or 32 evenweave. The higher the needle number the smaller it is (why??) and the aim is for the needle to pass through the holes in the fabric easily without enlarging the holes or distorting previous stitches.
chicky Have not stitched anything from Little Star. How disappointing that you aren't happy with the results of your efforts
pap I agree your black and white pieces are stunning
catwoman Scarlet wizard is stunning - a lot of work there0 -

My Dad got a lovely canteen of silver cutlery for his 25 years service award (this is 20+ years ago). He was quite a senior manager at the time and caused no end of trouble in the firm when he insisted that they engrave the presentation box with "To Mr and Mrs xxxx" because he said that Mum had done as much for the company as he did in her own way to support him. He absolutely refused to attend the ceremony until they agreed. They caved in in the end.0 -

Evening,
Hope everyone is ok and has some stitching planned for the weekend.
As some of you may remember, I was lucky enough to win a big ebay job lot a few months ago which included lots of threads. The Goodman (US brand) ones have gone to a very kind person who does a lot of charity stitching :T:A, which leaves me with about 3 boxes full of Anchor threads which I have just finished winding onto bobbins.
I did briefly consider buying a few more to get the complete Anchor set, but after a few days dismissed the thought as OTT as I already have all the DMC threads. But I did give it serious consideration :rotfl:
So, if anyone needs any to complete a set, has a chart but is looking for threads, etc, please let me know and I'll check. Most of them are very nearly full skeins, some are 2, some less.
I do not want anything for these - other than to increase your stash and reduce mine!0
