Just booked in an appointment with the ultrasound scanning clinic, they are going to do a pelvic and abdominal scan to see if I've got any abnormal lumps, because I've been having some odd symptoms. It's all a bit baffling (even though I'm a qualified healthcare professional!) probably more because of the implications than because of my understanding of what they're going to do.
It's actually made worse by the fact that the appointment isn't until Nov 12th and that's nearly 3 weeks away! That's 3 weeks to worry and not know. If it is cancer then I think I'd like to know and get started on the treatment.
Think I might do some stitching to make myself feel better now. Thanks for letting me tell someone - I don't want to tell real life friends (except my housemates) until I know what's happening but I needed to tell someone!0 -

That's what we're here for.Its the waiting that drives you nuts, isn't it? But don't keep thinking about the what if's. It'll only make you feel stressed. Doing some stitching to keep your focus on something else is a good idea. Or do some virtual online shopping. If you had £1000 to spend on stash, what would you buy? I'm now slightly obsessed with that storage chest. It's £700, so way out of my price range, but I could be so organised with one. I could just picture all those boxes being filled with different colour fabrics and threads. All the buttons and beads could be all organised...:rotfl:
It would be bliss to have that in a craft room. I can dream.
Stuck inside with Blossom today. We've got some workmen come to look at a damp problem and it's worse than first thought. No idea what's going on in there. I'm staying with the kitten in her room to keep her calm through all the noise. She's bored and doesn't understand why we can't go and play in the living room. Actually, I should take advantage of being in here and gather up all the threads from finished projects that are scattered about in zip lock bags and put them away in the stitchbow boxes. So far, the only productive thing I've done is replied to some emails and booked my follow up appointment at the hospital.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Thank you Ruth - Yes it is the waiting that drives you nuts. I feel like I can cope with just about any diagnosis so long as they give me a diagnosis! Oh well.
The stitching hasn't happened yet as Cookie (my dog) is going a bit mad asking for her walk. She's running back and forth between me and the front door so it's pretty clear what she wants! She's a little early as we don't normally go until 12.30 and she started asking at 12 but I think I'll take her now then I can settle properly to do some stitching when we get back.
I hope your kitten settles soon Ruth, and doing your organising sounds like a very good way to pass the time. I have stitchbows too and find them to be a great way to organise threads, though I couldn't get on with the boxes and have them in a filing system now.0 -

Where does everyone get their needles? I've just been having a look on ebay but wasn't sure if there is anywhere else cheaper? I'm looking to get quite a lot of needles, say about 20 or 25 to start pre threading them in batches. I currently only own 2 or 3 cross stitch needles and I only know where one of them is (in my project, the others are probably in my sewing box but I haven't checked.0

I just bought 50 gold plated needles from this lady on eBay.
£3.99 + £0.95 postage and packing. She let me say how many of each size I wanted and they arrived the next day.
Possibly not the cheapest around, I didn't hunt too far - but her service was great. (I am not related to her in any way, just a customer!)0 -
Re needles
Am I thinking in saying you use size 24 for 28ct evenweaven and 26 for 14ct aida?
I was just thinking the same thing ELLIEP and thanks for the link MAGS_CAT0 -

There's a size guide here and another one with more types of thread here.
I'm currently using the size 26 needles on 20 count aida, and they're fine.0 -
sweetcarer - good luck with all of the competitions. I am soooo hungry now I've read your list.
Well done with the insurance company too.
Janus - good to see you popping into Cafe again. Let you know if you decide on anything out of WOCS - looking forward to seeing any piccies. I think some of the xmas cards I've done came out of that one.
chicky - good luck with Peanut stocking. I was thinking that I might change my 12/12/12 to 10/11/12 the way things are going (that will have jinksed it) but it will spoil Louise's lovely list on Page 1 - wonder if I dare :think:
FE - love those storage units. We could be so organised and really tidy - I'm living in dreamland again
elliep - I agree with you - the waiting is the worst bit. I think if we know the state of play - we just click into action and deal with things. I was in a similar situation about six years ago so I can guess how you must be feeling. Hope things work out well for you and just remember we are here for you.
Mrs.M - well done with the competitions. I sometimes complete them but never get around to posting them.Good to hear that someone we know wins.
Mags_cat - thanks for links re needles and threads. Have marked it for future ref.
Had a busy day so far with only a little bit of stitching but I am in for the night now with not a great deal planned other than tv and sofa so I may well find some time of stitching. It has been so dark and miserable all day here today and I am ashamed to say that I have changed into my dressing gown already while the tea is in the oven - how bad is that
Take care everyone,

I'm itching to do some stitching
so hope to get some done tonight once dinner and washing up are done :j
Its my first night in since the weekend so I always relish sofa/tv/remote on a Wednesday. All confused with my days - thought it was Thursday earlier ?!0
