Hey everyone,
Hope all is OK in your world. I have just the edges of all the monthly banners to do and the top banner edge and calendar bears will be finished... but I have run out of dark brown! I have found a conversion chart so next time I go shopping I’ll get some thread to finish it.
In the meantime I have started a tatty teddy piece; I’m already dreading the backstitch but it’s a charity piece so worth it! Basically it’s for a charity called Love Quilts UK, cross stitched squares on a theme get sewn together to form a quilt for a child who has a life threatening or lifelong illness. Worth checking out all you avid stitchers!
Shelly – I’m not a cat lover but the picture is very pretty, lots of random stitching to keep you on your toes! Saw your post re fabric –I’ve recently used Across Town and Katzstitch both of which are good prices.
*Louise* you’ve made quick work of that 12 days of Christmas! What are you planning to do with it?
Benny1981 – OU study is hard, I’m currently doing a psychology degree. You have to be quite disciplined but at the same time take breaks, when study is at your own pace it’s as easy to try and get too much done as well as not enough. The forums on the OU home page and facebook I have found are really helpful.
PAP – love London, think all that greyscale and confetti stitch would have killed me!
Ailsb - great pics, purple is my favourite colour.
Ruth_honey – yes I’m a 1981 baby, I got mine when I was 16! Do you remember they used to have cross stitch book clubs in magazines where you got about 6 items really cheap then had to buy so many things full price over the next year or so, well it was one of those. In fact when I looked on the chart the design is dated 1991! I love the Octobear too, and the June bride, maybe that’s just wishing that a kind handsome man may still come along and sweep me off my feet!!! :rotfl:OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
Afternoon everyone
Flying visit before I have to dash out to Shape and Tone -just checking time - I might be able to squeeze in 20 mins stitching before I leave
Keiss - good to see you popping in and that all is well with you.
Ailsb - loving the fairies
pm2326 - love your big cat. Looks so life like.
fos - 'ear worms' - YYYYYUUUUUCCCCKKKKK :eek::eek:
Ruth_honey - pleased to hear your wounds are on the mend.
sk00bie - hope you have a lovely evening.
Don't think fog has really cleared properly here all day and its damp and drizzly. I hate the dark nights when I have to get ready and go back out.
Will pop back in later to catch up with you all.

Hi ladies.
Ruth. Glad your belly button is getting better. Glad also that friday went ok.
PAP. 2 full A4 pages sounds an awful lot to me but you say you might be finished this week, blimey!
Thanks for the fabric advice ladies.
Louise. Would you steer clear from ebay fabric in general or just unbranded stuff? The pieces on ebay I have seen say DMC but not sure if to buy from there now.
Littlestar. Thank you, the ebay seller I was thinking of buying from is the same as you used, Katzxstitch. Were the pieces ok, colour and shape wise?
No stitching done here so far this week. Once I have had my lunch all I want to do is snuggle down under the blanket and watch tv!:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

ok found the bookmark one and loads of other lovely charts to add to my to do list for random occasions, loving the siteThanks again
Glad you found it - I was hoping it was still there as I might download it again and save it for some other time. I have decided that is the one for the competition. I got some felt so will back it later - busy getting on with the baking items for the competition. I also cross stitching a crown for the jubilee card competition. So that make 10 competitions I will be entering on Saturday - they are
1. 3 pancakes (will do Friday or even Saturday morning)
2. 3 oven fruit scones (will do Friday)
3. 3 shortbread fingers (will do Thursday)
4. 3 decorated cupcakes (will make cakes Thursday - deocrate Friday/Saturday)
5. date & walnut loaf - their receipe (will do Thursday)
6. 3 welsh cakes (will do Friday or even Saturday morning)
7. chutney - made red tomato with apple and raisen (done this saturday).
8. swiss milk tablet (will do Thursday or Wednesday)
9. cross stitch bookmark (hands off my book)
10. jubilee card and small wrapped parcel.Ruth_honey wrote: »H
That's so lovely of you to say. Shame you're the opposite end of the country to me!
I managed the day ok. It was a long train journey, then I took a taxi to the crematorium. The family made me feel very welcome, even though I'd never met them before. I was recognised from photos, though, which was nice. I was walked back to the train station and given some sarnies to have on the train! LOL! Finally got home at 10:30pm. Loooong day!
I'm like that with phoning companies too. I hate doing it and will get DH to call if I can.
I am glad it all went ok - have run out of credit or would of text you to see how you are.
I know use the phone alot at work doing orders and using it for other things for my department but I hate doing - I get all tounge tied - I used to stutter years ago - and when I get nervous I can slip I have to tell myself to speak.
But I was brave today as I called back the insurance company re: their new quote for car insurance and managed to get it down to £42 so only £12 more than before instead of the £23 they originally wanted to put it up.
Wow what a long post. Sorry if I took up too much space.
Keep well everyone, till next time
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
WOW Sweetcarer - that is a LOT of competitions.... good luck.flowerofscotland wrote: »According to an item I heard on the radio yesterday those annoying tunes that repeat in your head are called "ear worms"
I LOVEEEEEE it.
I must learn to use my diary and not just carry it around for the fun of it.
left work early tonight to go to DS1's parents evening. met hubby and kids............walked in the school, wandered past a couple of members of staff in the 'creche' room who looked perplexed when I asked if it was ok to leave the kids with them (i think they thought we wanted a babysitter so we could go to the pub or something :rotfl:).
Hunted for a teacher...............before going home.....................and discovering it is tomorrow and Thursday not Tuesday/ Wednesday.
righty I'm off to finish my christmas card (well the stitchy bit of it anyway).
And try to remember how to use winzip.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
*Louise* I can't believe how fast you stitch! Twelve Days is looking good
JCS1 Blackwork angel looks great! I can't wait to stitch her. Next year, though
postingalwaysposting London is looking fab. Have you got much more to go?
Ailsb Haven't used a needle organiser but have been considering one of these: Thread Organiser Fairies looking good.
Ruth_honey Glad your wounds are healing now.Ruth_honey wrote: »I'm like that with phoning companies too. I hate doing it and will get DH to call if I can.
I don't like phoning take-aways and taxis. Get DH to do it whenever I can
Also, Gel superglue was from Wilkos. It's in the DIY section with all the glues, rather than the craft section.
Sweetcarer Good luck with all your competitions! You have been busy!
Good progress is being made with Noahs Ark which is nice. Photo update soon.
Took our cat Harold to vets yesterday and he is needing 3 teeth out, but have to wait on some blood tests back because he might have a problem with his kidneys. Poor kitty
Night all- off to do a bit more Noahs Ark.

I haven't managed much x- stitching or looking at this forum over the summer, but have been lurking and reading all your exciting posts and have got the x-stitxh bug again!! I even treated myself (or rather couldn't resist buying WCS in Tek**o this morning.
I hope you don't mind a new comer joining in ,you all seem to know each other so well.

Hey, yes I ordered from the budget section, some 13x13 pieces and they are good. Properly white, no fraying or anything, and 100% cotton xOU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0
