firefly Sorry to hear about your problems -my 2nd stepdaughter went through this and it's not nice
Think switching to stitching something with a Christmas theme is a good idea
pm2326 hello:wave:
It will be lovely to see your UFOs (and then watch your progress as you finish them) once you are able to get your hands on your stash again
Maria Stitching is our hobby not our job so we shouldn't do anything we don't enjoy. I wouldn't unpick - I would put it to one side in case I change my mind and then if I still don't like it I would do as Louise suggests and cut the fabric so that I can salvage something (and of course the leftover threads can be used for projects you do like)
fe The kit is cute but IMHO far too dear for what it is
scotstwinsmum Celtic Noel is looking lovely and of course I couldn't resist looking at your other stitching photos - love your tree covered with stitched decorations
ailsb I've never used 3 strands on 28 count. It will stand out against the fabric
If you're in Blackpool this stitching shop is only a few tram stops away (going north) I haven't been to it myself but I used to visit their previous store occasionally when I used to go to Blackpool on business (about 10 years ago when I think about it
beg The designs I posted don't have to be stitched on paper - they were originally designed for fabric
sweetcarer I like both bookmarks and if I was choosing for myself I would pick the blue one but for a competition you might be better entering the one with different stitches as there is more work in it. Can't you enter both?
With all this talk of bookmarks some of you may be interested in one of the current free designs on Artecy which is a snowflake bookmark. They suggest stitching the snowflakes in white and the background in red but I would use red (or navy) fabric and just stitch the snowflakes. Have downloaded and saved it anyway0 -
Have had a lovely weekend.
Yesterday was a family get together - we have lots of family birthdays in Sept and Oct so that was the "excuse". Because the weather was dry most of the boys (of all ages) came prepared for one of our legendary family dads and lads footy matches. Of course the lawn was wet and everyone ended up covered in mud but great fun was had by all. Apart that is for one little girl who is a new addition to our extended family as her mum is the new partner of one of my BiLs, Her mum had dressed her in a beautiful cream party frock and so she wasn't allowed to play with the boys. I did say at one point something along the lines of "it's only mud - it will come off in the washing machine" to be told that the dress was silk and dry clean only. Who buys dry clean only dresses for a 5 year old???
Then home in plenty of time for Strictly (no stitching - need max concentration :rotfl:) Then finished stitching my SB stocking - just need to put it together now.
This afternoon I have stitched Ruby's stocking - just need to finish off the binding by hand in front of the TV and also machine stitched my Diamond Jubilee cushion.
Photo updates to follow when completed
Hope everyone else has managed some quality stitching time0 -
Afternoon all. No stitching here this weekend. Been a bit of a mixed one. Some good, some not so good. Problems with OH again but no-one to talk to as it got a little bit personal last night. Felt very low and feared for the end of our relationship. Still strained today but having to smile through it!Baby daughter born Jan 10Baby son born June 110

Now that I have finished the cross stitch on my last Christmas stocking of 2012 I am thinking about which to do next. I have said I will do a pair of Shepherd's Bush stockings for a husband and wife for Christmas 2013 (their children have them and they feel left out they said
)
Anyway I would be interested in your views on which 2 to stitch. I want to do designs I haven't already stitched as I've done quite a few (some twice and Mary's Stocking 3 times).
So if you are interested and can spare the time have a look at the Shepherd's Bush website and let me know which 2 you think I should do (one male, one female) The choices are: Jeffrey, Brett, Bertie or Thomas and Anna, Sadie or Charland (this is the latest one and is on the home page)
Thanks0 -
hugs to you brednall,, i really hope things work outflowerofscotland wrote: »
mrsmp (and Louise) Lady of Shalot is an amazing picture - the original is at the Tate and well worth going to see if you are ever in that part of London (admission is free). Would look stunning stitched but like Louise says the confetti stitching would be horrendous
Would love to see the Celtic Noel variation with a hood
Hope all are enjoying their Sunday
hopefully this will work

No stitching for me either this weekend other than a few more stitches to tigger on the bus yesterday.
Did intend that I would settle with my stitching for a good part of today but just never got round to it and enjoyed snoozing on the sofa with the cat more!
I've started a thread on the debt free wannabee board if anyone wants a nose. Its called The Last Penny I've spent far too much money this month and need to rein in especially with xmas round the corner.
