  • Just catching up, been busy these last 2 days but now stitching in front of the X Factor!

So impressed with the blackwork angel sk00bie1, the blackwork owl is still on my ebay watch list but I’m being good and not buying it until I have done what I already have!
Leemina12- good idea about photographing completed work. I’m going to make sure I keep records, I also make cards and already photograph all those.
Ailsb – think I’ll keep Calendar Bears for myself as it’s quite sentimental to me – I bought it when I was 16 (14 years ago!) as did my nanna. Hers hung on a wall in her hallway for years until she died, and I never finished mine, so I want to finish it for that reason. Your son chose some lovely glasses! Great idea.
Subtle_minx – studying psychology through the Open University. The bears are cute aren’t they? I think I’m about to run out of dark brown thread though, that doesn’t impress me much!! Sorry I don’t own any evenweave, not that brave yet!
Sweetcarer – I had a look but all the magazines I have are from the last 2 years, bar the odd one. I have had a flick through some and not found what you’re looking for but will continue to keep an eye out.
Ruth_honey – hope yesterday went as well as it could have x
Flat Eric – hope you are feeling better than earlier, maybe having some stitch time would help to relax you! Enjoy your time chilling tomorrow. I’m a bit of a sucker for cute kits so I love the Boofle!
Firefly369 – been getting out and putting away calendar bears for years now! I get so obsessed over doing something then I forget about it for forever then pick it up again at a later date. No wonder I have so many unfinished crafts! The birth sampler is lovely but it must be difficult for you in your current situation – take it easy, sending positive vibes your way. Try some Christmas stuff, surely Christmas makes everyone feel a bit warm inside :p
    Pm2326 – welcome back!
Maria and the imps – have you got a short deadline for your boring stitching? You could always try alternating it with something more exciting!

So sad to hear about the train incident, hope you are both OK, seem to be a lot of sad stories like that circulating at the minute :(

Firefly - sorry you are feeling so down about your fertility treatment. I can totally sympathise with you, we went through 11 years of fertility treatment, were told we wouldn't conceive, got accepted for adoption, had a baby boy ready to be placed with us and then found out we were expecting our son - so please don't give up hope. If you want to "talk" PM me and I'd be happy to be a sounding block or shoulder.

FlatEric & TMIF - your train journeys' sound awful, so glad that you are both ok and the journey didn't spoil your day.

Maria - I certainly wouldn't continue with the design if you are struggling with it so much. I agree with Louise, maybe let us know what it is and someone here might be interested. If not depending on how many stitches you have done I'd either unpick it or if too many to unpick in one night I'd cut the material as Louise suggests.

Didn't manage to get over to Hobbycraft today so have started stitching the Bug today, think it will be an interesting stitch. I'm using 28 count linen and 3 strands of thread so stitches are very close together. Don't think it will take too long to complete as I like how it looks and it's lovely colours. Will post a picture once I have a bit more done.

Booked a hotel in Blackpool for tomorrow night. Hubby working up north on Monday so he's got the company car. Driving up using company petrol, using Merlin passes for things to do tomorrow (Tower, Circus, Dungeons, Madame Tussuards and Sea Life Centre) then getting the National Express coach back home Monday which has cost £2 for son and myself. Won't manage to do much stitching especially as Bug is for son and he will be with me on coach home.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:just had a naughty pudding from m&$ couldn't manage all of mine - (melt in the middle chocolate pudding) with cream. so got the cream and put some on my cat's paws and ear. He has just spent 10 mins licking his paws! (he hasn't found the cream on his ear yet - don't ask me why I put it on his ear??:D )

forgot to mention earlier that I got the new Nigel Slater Kitchen diaries 2 cookbook for just £10 today instead of the RRP of £30. half price in %miths then had a £5 off £15 spend :T

Flateric - the kit is cute but I think it's expensive for what it is but then I'm a bit of a skinflint.

Scotsmum - Celtic lady is lovely. I had a flick through your photos and love the snowflakes they will look lovely on your tree with the other ornaments.

saw this in the stitchy shop today. Really liked it - wondered what other people's views were on the kit ?

one of the stitchy Facebook groups (could have been DMC) posted it the other day - it went straight on my want list :D
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
  • fos - love some of the angels stitched on paper - have added them on to 'to do' list. Stitching on paper will be a first for me.

brednall - I couldn't get my head around the backstitching on Michael Powell at first - but now I just love it. I have done a few of his designs. It just adds that quirkiness to them.

Ailsb - love those glasses. Well done to DS :T You will have to take extra care with washing up mind you :p

mrs.m - love celtic noel. Visited a friend earlier this year and I spied it on her wall. It was a gift - stitched by her f-i-l. The mount was cut/shaped around the stitching iykwim. Sorry I can't explain it very well but it was truly wonderful. Looking forward to seeing your updates.

firefly - try some xmassy stuff for a little while. Good luck with treatment etc - hope things work out for you soon.

    pm2326 - welcome back :)

maria - unpick or go for Louise's suggestion.

Catch up some more later girls - got to dash off just now.

maira, some good suggestions so far so cant offer any more advice, i would put it to one side and see how you feel about it later on
had a bit of a stitchy night last night, i put a christmas decoration together ive been making, it seems to have turned out alright, thank you for the suggestion of sewing the bead strands on and not gluing it looks really good. also started another lizzie kate design im doing it in the same colourways i used for the other two so i can frame them together. still havent heard back from them so its for my own use not for the craft stall. hoping to get that finshed and framed up today
    love the update photos
i hope everyone is well, its foggy and damp out there so i suggest staying in with your stitching and keeping warm

sad news about the train incident, i presume its the one thats been on the news. things like that are always really sad.

    Hello Girls,

I have finished both my book marks and now its time to vote.

The first one is a blue variegated thread one.

    108_0269_zpsb03f2097.jpg

The next one has different stitches on it. Starting at top there is red zig zag back stitch, then blue and yellow rice stitch, then green fern stitch, the 3 flowers are just cross stitch, then blue algerian eyes within a diamond, then yellow herringbone stitch, the checkerboard red and green, then there is some tulips done in cross stitch and then its all repeated back.

    108_0270_zpsa9457da7.jpg

I don't know how to do the voting thing in here so if you want to post what you think. Hubbys favourite is the different stitches one as its more colourful.

I will be posting this on facebook too - so apoligies if you see it there too.

I have bought some white felt to back them when its decided what is best one.

Thank you for taking time to read my post.

    Kind wishes

    sweetcarer ;)
